Chereads / GINNY / Chapter 7 - 6

Chapter 7 - 6

Though Ginny had looked away, someone hadn't. His eyes roamed Ginny's face and traced her body outline in that tight dress, he saw plenty but somehow not enough.

"My lady, your seat. I have ordered our favorite," Ginny's new big brother said interrupting the charged atmosphere that was starting to accumulate. He signaled for the waiter as he took his own sit, ignoring his friend who had said he was leaving a few minutes ago.

"Ginny? Come sit," Nissy called to her sister who was still rooted in place. She didn't appreciate how Jack's friend was looking at her timid little sister. The last thing she wanted was for Ginny to say she wants to leave before dinner was over.

Ginny barely lifted her eyes, "Okay," she had to go around the man blocking her way if she wanted to reach any seat. But she couldn't just pass him without a word and he seemed like a good friend of her big brother's. "Hello, Sir. Excuse me, Sir," she tried to go around him but he lifted his hand blocking her from passing.

Startled, Ginny looked up at him with wide eyes thinking maybe he was offended earlier by the way she had looked at him.

"Let me."

Ginny looked at him clueless as to what he meant. He turned and pulled out a chair for her. "Ohh?" She wanted to slap herself for saying that out loud, "Thank you, Sir."

He gave her a ghost of a smile as she sat.

Ginny could have been wrong but she thought she heard him take a deep breath behind her as he pushed her chair in. He sat in the empty chair to her left.

"Ohh! Where're my manners? Ginny? This is my brother, Timini , but we all call him Tim. Tim? This is Ginny, my lover's little sister," Jack made the introductions with a mischievous sparkle in his eyes. He knew his friend so well.

Ginny turned to Tim and said with a sweet smile, "Nice to meet you, big brother Tim."

Tim raised an eyebrow, "Big brother?"

Ginny was getting a confused vibe from this man. She couldn't tell if he didn't like her or if he did. "Yes because you are big brother's brother, so you are big brother to me too...or not," she gulped under his blazing gaze.

He leaned in unnecessarily close making Ginny back away in her seat. He went ahead and asked not at all surprised by her action, "You mean the big brother that you don't even know his name?"

His closeness was alarming her, "Umm...Big sister didn't introduce us but big brother already knew my name and I didn't think it was necessary to know his name."

"Yes, it my fault. I didn't do the introductions and when I was telling them about him I never mentioned his name. Sorry sis. And Tim?" Nissy intervened trying to rescue her sister from Tim who didn't appear to want to leave anymore.

"Yes?"he answered without taking his eyes off Ginny.

"Back off. You are scaring my sister," Nissy said with a firm voice.

"Am I?"

"Yes."

"Yes," Nissy and Jack said at the same time. They looked at each other and laughed.

Tim stayed in his spot a moment longer then backed away slowly. His eyes travelled down her body to where her left leg was exposed under the table. He made it so deliberate that Ginny noticed that he was looking at her exposed leg. Her attempt to cover it with her clutch bag was fatal. It barely covered anything.

Tim sat back to get a better view of as she struggled to cover herself. Her attempts where clumsy as she tried to pull the material together discreetly.

Ginny looked under the table trying to find a solution when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to Tim and he signaled her to sit up. When she did, he slide his suit jacket off and helped her cover her legs.

"Thank you, Big brother," she smiled sweetly.

"I'm not your brother," Tim replied. He was never a stickler for titles, infact, he never cared much about how people addressed him. But hearing Ginny call him 'Brother' made him uneasy. Angry even. For no particular reason. He wasn't even sure if he liked the girl.

Ginny averted her eyes feeling embarrassed, "Sorry. Thank you, Sir," she corrected.

"I don't like that title either."

"Ohh the food's here!" Nissy exclaimed, wiggling out of Jack's arms.

Ginny had been too occupied with her dress and Tim to talk to them much. She hoped to get to know her new brother more before they go home.

"Ohh this looks delicious,"Ginny looked at the food being served by the waiter they met at the door earlier.

"I hope you like it as much as your sister and I do, Ginny. And by the way, my name is Jackson Wolf. Just incase," Jack said glaring at his friend for his earlier statement.

"Knowing or not knowing someone's name doesn't determine how much you will like someone anyway. When it comes to feelings, names aren't important. And I like you, big brother," Ginny smiled at him and looked at her happy sister, "Even more so because you make her happy."

"True, Sis. I have known a certain someone for quite sometime now but I still can't say I like him. Always grumpy, gloomy and sometimes even rude," Nissy didn't even try to hide that she meant Tim and he didn't even seem to care. Jack chuckled light heartedly.

Ginny had never had such delicious food in her life. It was the best she had ever tasted. It even make her forgot momentarily that Tim was sitting next to her.

They talked about Jack and she finally got to know more about him. He was born in Britain to a single mom, grew up in America and came to Nigeria for business. Infact, it was Tim who had dragged him her to start a business with him.

It seemed there was nothing about herself she could tell him, her sister had already done that for her. Apparently, she is all she ever speaks of mostly when they talk about her family.

While everyone else was enjoying the good food and good company, Tim's mood seemed to get sour with each passing moment. He had a problem with the lingering waiter who was just doing his job. He had a problem with the things they were talking about. Most of all, he had a problem with Ginny's laugh. It was gritting at his nerves, especially because the waiter seemed to find her alluring. He looked like a love sick puppy and he was starting to suspected she was the reason why he was lurking around.

By the time dinner was over, all he wanted was to get rid of that damned waiter. "Bill," he demanded, "And ask someone else to clear the table."

"But, Sir..." the waiter trailed off when Tim glared at him with a murderous gaze. He swallowed, nodded and left.

After witnessi his attitude toward that polite waiter, Ginny could understand why her sister wasn't very fond of him. That waiter had done nothing wrong but he got attacked.

Jack looked at his friend with a knowing smirk, "Tim?"

Tim knew what was coming from his wasn't something he would like to hear, "What?!"

"I want to show something to my darling, can you please drive Ginny home? Make sure she's safely inside the house," Jack put emphasis on the phrase, 'inside the house' as if he meant something else.

Nissy tried to call it a night but Jack insisted. He was very persuasive, so persuasive that they ended up leaving first.

"Go on, Sis. I will be fine, see you later," Gin waved at her sister.

"Please take care of my sister, Tim." Nissy pleaded with a worried look. She was more worried about Ginny being uncomfortable than she was about Tim doing something to her. Though he had a sour mood most of the time, he wasn't a bad person, she knew.

"Don't worry, babe, she's in good hands with Tim," Jack assured her.
