Jace stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped along the highway. The other vehicle chased after us, no longer being subtle about it.
"Any guesses who might have sent them?" Jace asked, his eyes concentrated on the road.
I opened the compartment and took out a small handgun I always carried. It was a common one, hence, nothing notable about it in case the police wanted to investigate.
"The list would be long," I replied, pressing the button to roll the window down on my side. "Keep driving. I'll get us to Carl after this pest is taken care of."
I stared at the car following us, calculating which tire to aim for. I could actually try hitting the driver, but in my best guess, they have bulletproof windows.
It was a wise and essential protection when one was dealing with an assassin. Thus, assaulting the people inside the car directly was a no-go.
