Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Arena

As we exited the room, we looked around in surprise.

The village looked... modern.

The houses were made from brick, the roads were paved, and we could see women walking around in long flowing robes made from cloth.

I furrowed my brows as I looked between them and the woman leading us.

"Surprised? We warriors wear pelts due to their higher resistance and strength than cloth and metals. As for the normal citizens of the village? They can wear whatever they want."

I continued to look around the village, the more I saw the more I realized...

They were as advanced as we were.

Honestly, it shouldn't have been surprising, as they had all the resources needed to create everything we had.

However, the longer I looked, the more I grew confused.

"Are there no men here?"

Hearing my question, the woman turned, smiling at me.

"Nope, and there haven't been any in decades. Every child born here is either a pure girl, or what we call Omega's. They have... both genitalia. So, the male population has gone extinct here."

That's... interesting.

Similar to how all the clans have more dominant traits, maybe this is just how it is here. After all, we know little about chakra in and of itself. Maybe it is easier to assimilate in large quantities to women?

I felt a small headache rising, before allowing my mind to clear.

I was an assassin, not a scientist.

If Orochimaru or Lady Tsunade were here, they may discover what caused this, but me? Honestly, while intriguing, I didn't even know where to start.

I refocused on the road we were following, taking in the buildings and people.

Each building had a clear purpose as we made our way down the road.

One building had a large brick furnace outside, and I could clearly hear the ringing of a hammer on metal.

Another had dozens of racks where pelts and hides hung in the sun, with various women using threads to create various clothes.

Each woman on the road looked similar, the main differences being their builds, hair styles, and eye colors.

Any women wearing the pelts were tall, lithe, and had blue, green, and very rarely, gold eyes. They had their long black hair pulled into braids, which were decorated with various trophies.

As for the civilians, they were shorter and tended to be in shape, but thin. Wearing simple cloth robes, they chatted and joked with one another as they walked the streets. They had brown or black eyes, and their hair was brown, thrown into any style except braids.

Seeing me looking around, the woman leading us spoke.

"All warriors are Omega's, while the normal citizens and just women. We had to separate our roles due to how chakra reacts to us. They tend to have little chakra, whereas Omega's have large amounts. As for the eye colors... Ha, well you'll have to earn our trust first. Ah, there is the arena!"

Pointing, we looked at the large circular structure, where dozens of women gathered around the edge.

We could hear cheering from the inside, before a loud roar of excitement muffled all other noise.

After the roar subsided, the woman turned to us with a grin.

"Well, I wish you all good luck in your fights. Think of it as... a right of proving. We want to see if you three are worth our time, so fight well. Follow the woman who approaches you, as she will take you to your preparation room."

With that, our guide left, before three women walked towards us. All three had bright blue eyes, and they looked at us warily.

Giving a nod to Anko and Kurenai, I followed behind the woman who stopped in front of me. If I had to guess, each eye color was a different ability, and blue was definitely the genjutsu users of the village.

Gesturing towards the arena, the woman remained silent as she waited for me to walk in front of her.

Looking at Anko and Kurenai one last time, I made my way towards the arena, ignoring the stares of the villagers.

Entering through a door, I looked around to see dozens of doors lining the hallway I entered. Turning, I waited for the guard to tell me where to go.

Pointing down the hall, she said "Last door, on the right."

Nodding, I quickly walked down the hall, before entering the room. It was furnished with only a bed and a chair, and nothing else. Standing in the center, I turned to see the guard closing the door.

"We will come get you when it is time for your fight. Till then, rest."

Plopping down on the bed, I stared at the floor, time passing slowly.

Hearing another loud cheer, I looked up, wondering if one of my girls was chosen to go first.

~~~
(Kurenai)
I walked into the center of the sand pit, looking a lot like what our stadium in Konoha looked like.
There were splashes of blood on the golden sand, and I looked around to see various warriors and citizens in the crowd, cheering as I entered.
I took a deep breath as I walked, praying that I could win this fight.
Before I had been thrust into the arena, the woman who showed me to the waiting room had handed me a small pill, saying it would allow me access to my chakra.
Seeing my distrust, she forced it down my throat, glaring at me in annoyance.
I sighed as I remembered that, the slight fear that she had done something to me quickly washed away by the feeling of my chakra flowing freely in my body.
As I reached the center, I drew a kunai and looked around, wondering what I was to fight.
"The first of three Outsiders to brave our arena! They have decided to prove themselves in front of the gods! The Raven's first fight shall be against..!"
I watched as the crowd cheered and clapped in applause, before hearing what I was to face.
"A pack of Tempest Wolves!"
Hearing the crowd roar again, I ground my teeth.
If I had to guess, a Tempest Wolf was the thing Kokoro brought back the first day here.
Highly resistant to chakra and blades, how in the world would I take on a pack of them? And going by their names, they likely were quite quick too...
I turned towards the sound of chains hitting the sand.
Four large, green wolves lumbered out of a gate, snarling at one another before fixing their eyes on me.
Spreading out, they continued to snarl at each other as they surrounded me.
Taking another deep breath, I activated my genjutsu as I looked one of them in the eyes.
Staring at it, I smiled when it's eyes went slack, before it turned and charged at another wolf.
Catching it off guard, it sunk its teeth into the other wolves hind leg, and the two proceeded to collapse to the ground, biting and scratching one another.
I turned my attention to the remaining two wolves, who were now looking at me warily.
Slipping a senbon out of my pouch, I looked towards one wolf and tried to place it under genjutsu, only for it to growl at me in annoyance.
Charging forwards, I pursed my lips before swaying to the side, avoiding the large paw that it swiped towards me.
I flicked the senbon towards the other wolf, smirking when I heard it yelp in pain.
Taking my kunai, I coated the blade in chakra before stabbing it into the wolves neck, grunting when I felt like I was stabbing a thick metal plate.
However, as I twisted the blade, I felt the wolf go slack.
Withdrawing the kunai, I looked towards the other wolf, who was pawing at its snout where the senbon had pierced its nose.
Charging forwards, I lanced my kunai towards its eyes, feeling the blade sink deep into the soft flesh of not only its eye, but its brain.
I quickly turned, looking between the still fighting wolves, and took a deep breath.
Coating my lungs in chakra, I quickly went though some hand signs before...
"Fire Release: Fire Ball!"
Breathing out, I watched as a large sphere of fire shot towards the two wolves, who turned and tried to use wind chakra to blow it away.
Sadly for them, all they did was fan the flames, and I watched as they tried to roll around on the ground to put out the fire that clung to their fur.
They slowly stopped moving, whimpering in pain before falling silent.
I marveled at how easy it was to use jutsu's here, as it would normally take me a bit to use anything other than genjutsu, but here it was as if I had a fire nature.
The arena erupted, and all the warriors in the crowd clapped and cheered.
I looked around, before spotting the woman from earlier. She nodded at me, before pointing behind me.
Turning, I saw the guard from earlier staring at me, nodding before gesturing back at the door.
I looked at the sky, before making my way inside.
My first fight was over...
Hopefully the Sage graces Anko and Kokoro like he did me...
Chapter 50...
Man, it's been an interesting journey.
So, like I did in chapter 25, I want to ask everyone if they could give the book an unofficial review in the comments. Let me know what I have done good, what needs to be improved, suggestions, and so on.
Besides that, I hope you enjoyed, and keep enjoying my work!
