Chapter 5 - Xavier's Grudge

The video replayed the wedding scene of Marco and Gabriella Osbart. Elleard and Xavier saw all the invited guests looking very stiff. Their two previously hostile families had just reconciled and their attitude towards each other was still very confrontational.

The situation made Marco and Gabriella laugh. In the end, the garden party was relaxed and the two mafia families enjoyed the party. From the wedding party, the video was playing again showing the figures of Marco and Gabriella who were going on their honeymoon.

The laughter of the two of them felt like a painkiller for Xavier, while Elleard had tears in his eyes. The video continued to play, showing various beautiful memories of their family until it came to the video of Elleard's birth which was greeted with joy and hugs by his two grandfathers.

Gabriella once told her sons that when she was about to give birth to Elleard, one floor of the hospital was booked and all who would pass through that floor had to go through a strict but closed inspection from the mafia.

Because the hospital was worried about their reputation if gossip leaked about their place being used by the mafia, the hospital decided to announce that they closed that specific wing for a week for reasons of repair. Only the selected doctors with nurses helping Elleard's mother give birth could enter.

The video then played the moments when Xavier was born and Elleard was seen smiling beside the crib and touching his brother's cheek.

"Do you love your brother?" Gabriella asked behind the camera.

"Mm… very much," said little Elleard with a big smile. "I'll teach him to ride a horse and shoot."

Little Elleard looked very handsome. He touched the cheek of his little brother, Xavier who was still a baby. He was three at that time.

Then the video switched to that fateful night, on the night of their parents' wedding anniversary. Gabriella Osbart was showing off her dress with great joy.

"Stop!" Elleard's voice stopped the video shown on the screen. He could no longer see it.

The computer instantly shat down.

Xavier turned back to Elleard. "Do you want to know all the information about what had happened so far now? Or later?"

"Just tell me what I need to know," said Elleard.

Xavier nodded. He then turned to the screen and gave orders. "Show the Marquez family!"

The system again showed a video with people wearing black masks.

"I've chased after their families and slaughtered one after another," Xavier said coldly. "It's not easy, but I'll keep chasing them until I kill the last person."

During these past three years, Xavier had smeared his hands with the blood of the families of the assassins one after another.

The sound of gunfire from the video immediately caught Elleard's ears. He saw a person in the video fall down, covered in blood.

"The Marquez youngest son, the illegitimate one, Carlos Marquez, apparently wanted to prove his worth to their grandfather, the Marquez family patriarch. He planned everything to destroy our family. I found out this information from the traitor I tortured. He was supported by his mother's family and uncles," Xavier explained. "That's why he can disappear and cover his tracks."

"When I confronted the Marquez family, they pretended to not know anything about Carlos's crime and protect him. They think I will not find out the truth..." Xavier scoffed. He pressed a button and the screen showed a picture of several people on a yacht. "This is him and these are his closest men. I have killed most of them."

"There are two people I haven't found yet, in addition to Carlos." Xavier marked the two people's heads in red ink. "I got word that they became government officials. They were able to gain power after our parents were killed and the whole area was in chaos."

He added, "Those who were loyal are ready to die, not wanting to defect, while those who had no guts choose to be losers who open up all of our possessions to the public. I'm forced to cut off some of our businesses."

"What about the weapons factory?" asked Elleard.

"It is still very safe, I will not let anyone touch the fruits of our parent's hard work."

The Osbart family was also known as a supplier of weapons to several countries, as well as defenders of conflicts called rebels. They built this network very carefully and managed to maintain it even though Marco Osbart was no longer around because his younger brother helped Xavier manage the business.

"Okay, I've shown you everything. Now we should go back!" said Xavier.

"Hmm." Elleard nodded.

Xavier who was leaning on the table now walked over to Elleard. He started to push the wheelchair. The fact that his brother had difficulty recovering had been discovered by the various excellent doctors he paid specifically to treat Elleard's legs.

The door to the room automatically locked, and then Xavier walked beside Elleard's wheelchair which he had switched to automatic.

Elena continued to look in the direction of the cemetery entrance, while her hands were skillfully arranging medium-sized flowers to hold. Usually, at this hour Elleard and his bodyguards would come to pray there.

Elena shook off the thought of the man. What did she expect? Hoping the guy would come and buy her flowers again? Gosh… Elena couldn't believe she was thinking so highly of herself.

While arranging flowers seriously, from a distance, Elena saw two cemetery officers stop in front of her parents' graves. Elena squinted her eyes to confirm the sight, hoping to find out what the two of them were doing.

Curiosity tickled her heart, even more, when she saw that the two men were seriously discussing her parents' graves. Elena saw one of them nod, motioning that he understood what he was being instructed to do. And then, the two of them left. Since nothing happened, Elena resumed the flower arrangement.

Fifteen minutes later, the two men came back. And this time they brought items such as a shovel, two hammers, and other things that Elena couldn't understand what were for.

When they suddenly raised their hammers about to hit the tombstone, Elena suddenly gasped. She immediately left the flowers, ran across the road, and into the entrance of the cemetery.

"Sir, is there something wrong with my parents' graves?" Elena's pair of round looked at the two men questioningly.

"Are you their relatives?"

Elena nodded. "I am their daughter."

"Oh, we will dismantle these graves, change them to new owners," replied the officer curtly.

"Wait a minute, I don't understand what you're saying." Elena started to panic while digesting the words of the cemetery staff.

"We will dismantle this old grave and prepare it for new occupants," said one of the staff.

"Why? What's wrong with my parents' graves?" asked Elena in a trembling voice. "I won't allow my parents' graves to be removed."

"It's not a matter of whether you allow it or not," said the older staff, looking at Ellena with an annoyed expression. "This is an order from our superiors."

"What superiors? Who ordered it?" asked Elena panicked. "If I want to submit my objection, where should I go?"

Elena clenched her jaws and looked at the two men, undaunted. She tried to find a plausible explanation. How could people just arbitrarily eliminate someone's grave while the relatives were still visiting diligently?

"You didn't get a warning letter from us, miss?" asked the older staff, raising an eyebrow.

Elena shook her head. "N-no… what warning?"

"The lease for these graves has not been paid for over five years. We have tried to send letters to the relatives so the lease can be paid, but no one has come back to us to sort it."

Elena was flabbergasted to hear the staff's explanation. Her parents' grave lease was not paid for a long time?
