Xavier only watched the frightened Elena through the tinted glass. He remained unmoved even though Elena had hit the windshield in a panic and begged for help.
It was only when the girl started running again that Xavier was moved from his daze.
Initially, he did not want to get into trouble. However, for some reason, he suddenly turned the steering wheel to chase those people.
Elena was running, panting in a dark narrow alley. The three scary men continued to chase after her.
"Hey! We've seen your face."
"Come on. It's tiring to keep running, isn't it? Let's sit down and talk."
"Come on, beautiful lady! Why are you hanging around out here at night? It's cold you know..."
"We can give you warmth."
Elena looked back. Only one man was walking closer and closer. Her brows furrowed. Where were the other two? Wasn't there...
THUD!
She crashed into the two other people when she was walking backward. It turned out that the three men were quite familiar with the alleys in this area and decided to split up into two groups. One person continued to chase Elena and the other two took another path and then blocked her from the front.
"Be careful, baby!" Both of them laughed seeing Elena.
Their laughter sounded very scary to Elena. One person grabbed her elbow, helping Elena get up. She tried to get past the two of them but was caught by both men.
"Where are you going? Come have a drink with us, tonight is too cold to pass alone."
Elena was still silent. She kept trying to get past the two and was followed by a third man. They laughed at each other. Elena was circled by the three.
"Yeah, coming with us would be nice." The others chimed in as they moved closer to her. One man started to feel Elena's back and made the hair on the girl's neck stand up.
Elena squirmed her body, trying to avoid their lewd hands that were touching her back. It felt so disgusting.
"Get off me!" Elena shouted in panic. Unfortunately, her words were only met with laughter from all of them. They acted as if her efforts to fight back only made Elena look even more alluring in their eyes.
"You look very beautiful. Where do you live?"
The others laughed. "Looks like she just ran away from home."
"What a coincidence, I have a very nice and warm house. My bed, especially, is VERY WARM."
Elena started to experience shortness of breath as they groped her hair, and her back, and went lower to her butt. One was even trying to grope her breasts.
"Don't touch me!" Elena pushed one of them.
The others started holding Elena from behind, lifting her small waist.
"You like playing hard to get, eh?" the man said in a perverted voice. "Maybe you like a bit of violence too? I can play you rough if that's what you want."
One or two passersby didn't want to get involved. When they saw Elena's pleading gaze, followed by the threatening expression of the three thugs, they just walked away and pretended not to see anything.
Elena felt so alone and scared. When she thought her life would end there as the three men managed to overpower her, suddenly the screech of a car tire caught everyone's attention.
The car moved in a dangerous maneuver, almost crashing into all four. The three thugs were startled and backed away, not wanting to die from being hit by a car. When she felt their grip loosen, Elena immediately took a few steps back and secured herself
Xavier came out of the car and extended his hand toward Elena.
"Get in!" he ordered her with a sharp and intimidating look at the three thugs. His right hand was ready to reach for the weapon that he kept under his suit.
One thug stepped forward bravely after seeing Xavier alone.
"That's a very bad move, man. She's our woman. We found her first." He snorted.
Xavier narrowed his eyes dangerously. Somehow, even though he was alone, he managed to look so intimidating. His all-black attire, his eyes hidden by the dark sunglasses, and his cold countenance made him look like the angel of death, ready to take their lives.
Upon seeing his terrifying figure, one of the men frowned. He knew a little about Xavier because he had been involved with the mafia before and could still recognize the attitude of a mafia. From the looks of this new guy… maybe he was one?
The thug swallowed his saliva. Xavier was quite well known in limited circles. In recent years he had been implicated in countless murders, though none of them could be directly linked to him, many people knew he was responsible for those deaths.
When the other two thugs started to come forward to gang up on him, the third thug realized that they would be courting death for ganging up on Xavier.
"Let us go!" He immediately grabbed his friend's elbow. He whispered, "Don't mess around..."
Xavier stood still, watching them intently. He suspected that one of his opponents had recognized who he was.
"He's X, Elleard's Osbart's little brother," said the man who recognized Xavier. "I don't want to die. If you still love your life, you should leave too!"
As soon as he finished his sentence, without waiting for the others to react, the thug who recognized Xavier had fled. The other two men began to tremble at the mention of X's name. Then, not long after, they started running.
Xavier snorted at the cowards. He motioned for Elena to get into his car. Still, in shock from what had just happened, Elena subconsciously obeyed the man's orders.
Xavier closed the car door and got in his car. He turned the wheel and the car sped through the streets of Milan. Night lights flashed along the street. No one spoke.
Minutes passed only in silence. Elena just looked down while squeezing her fingers, Xavier was still looking at the road.
"Should I ask where your house is? Or where do you plan to go?" After a fifteen-minute drive, Xavier broke the silence. He glanced at Elena, the girl was still looking down. Her face was filled with sadness.
"Uhm… just drop me over there." Elena pointed carelessly at the road in front of them, She would find a way to save herself. At least she would be safer on the main road because it was not as quiet as the alleys like earlier.
Without a word, Xavier followed the girl's index finger to stop. Elena got down and bowed deeply to thank Xavier. After the girl got off, Xavier rode away.
However, when he saw Elena again through the rearview mirror, what he saw on Elena's face really disturbed Xavier's conscience. There was an unexplainable sadness when he saw the girl's face.
Xavier shook his head. His gaze returned to focus on the road. He had helped her enough.
