Chereads / A Journey To The Darkness / Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

It was the time for us to rest a bit. We sat under the three which was the nearest to granny's house. We could see what was going on in the house through the window from the place where we were.

I missed my parents and sister a lot. I started thinking. I imagined of my family members, my mother, my father and my sister. For sure they are worrying for me. Maybe my mother is spending whole day crying and thinking about me. My father, he might be searching for me everywhere. While the thoughts were flowing through my mind, tears came and within a second, drops of tears streamed down from my cheeks. I quickly wiped away the tears. But my attempt of hiding the tears were useless. Lisa had seen my tears. Then she walked to me and sat behind me.

"Hey Shalie, are you okay? Why are you crying? What's wrong?" Lisa asked from me.

"No, it's nothing." I replied.

"I don't believe you. Just tell me, you will feel comfortable when you talk about your matter with me." she said.

"I was not good to my family when was in my home. I always wanted to spend my time alone. I was so rude! And now I understand. My parents always worried about me. When they advice me about such things, I rejected them. I was so selfish." I said to Lisa. She was correct, when I talk about the problem, which was disturbing me time to time.

"Don't worry. At least you understood it now. When we go back, you can spend your time with them. I know your parents are always busy. But you have to make them spend their time with them." Lisa said.

"Yes, thank you for you kind words Lisa. And I realized that you are not the girl whom I imagined. You are a brave girl." I replied to her with a smile.

"Hey come on, granny is going to have the dinner." Edward said suddenly. As soon as we heard his words, we ran towards him.

Granny was about to eat. We were looking at her. But unfortunately, Alicia came and looked out of the window and closed it.

"What? Is she mad?" Max said angrily.

"We can't blame Alicia for closing the window. It's our bad luck." said Edward.

"Hmm, yes you are correct. What do we do now?" asked Max.

"The only way is to go there. Let's go. There's nothing to worry about. She must have eaten it by now." said Edward.

"Yes, let's go. But if something happens?" Lisa asked from Edward.

"Don't worry, I'm with you. And her magic is weak. And most of all Shalie is our war shield." Edward said. Any of the magic cannot affect me. Though I sailed with them, I was puzzled.

We all walked towards granny's house and stood in front of the door. I thought that Max or Edward will take the lead. But they didn't. My heart had already started pounding faster and faster. I looked at Edward, Max and Lisa to make sure that they don't hear the sound of my heart's pounding.

"I think one of us must go first!" Lisa said.

"I'll go. But you must follow me." I replied.

"Believe us! We'll follow you." Edward replied.

Then I started walking towards the door. It felt like I'm going to a war and myself could be considered to be a warrior according to the feelings I had that time.

I must not knock on the door. So I opened the door without a knock. First I saw Alicia. But on the first sight I could not see granny. I walked few more steps towards Alicia immediately, in order to see whether granny was there. Within the next few minutes I got surprised from the scenario which was in front of me.

"What happened to her? Oh please help me!" I screamed. Granny was lying on the floor.

"I didn't do anything. After eating two spoonfuls she suddenly fainted." Alicia said. It was kind of an unbelievable incident. The stones could not work on Alicia. As Jingle said, the stones work only on the people who have magical powers. However it wasn't the time to think about Alicia. We all were afraid of the condition of granny.

Alicia suddenly ran towards a bucket and brought some water. Max took a handful of water and sprayed it on granny's face. Luckily she woke up.

"Did I eat a magical stone?" granny said as soon as she woke up.

Instead of answering to her question, we released a sigh of relief.

"Thank you Shalie! It's over now. Did you destroy the book?" granny asked.

"Yes we destroyed it as you said. Isn't it over yet?" I asked back from granny.

"No! My dear children, we're almost done but Morgan won't stop these cruel magic." Granny said.

"What?" I asked disappointedly.
