They arrived at the Lost city by sunset. The temple was high up on the mountain so they had to go on foot the rest of the way. The temple door was magnificent, certainly one to behold. It was probably 15ft tall. The poor had some kind of encryption written on it in a language that was unknown. "What does it say?"asked Ethan. "What language is this?" asked Pyre. "It's old Valkerie, the language of the people of this city spoke." "Can you read it?",asked Grim. "I can try" said Mobis. "HERE LIES IN THIS TEMPLE THE GEM STONE THAT WAS GIVEN TO MEEREN, DAUGHTER OF KING MANDO ZAGOPHETH". "Great the gems definitely in there. But how do we get in?"asked El. "There's something else". "WHAT CORRUPTS A MAN AND REVEALS HIS TRUE NATURE ALL AT ONCE?". "We solve the riddle and the door opens, classic D and D",said Pyre. "Guys think, what corrupts a man and reveals his true nature?", said Grim. "Alright Brainstorm. Love?" said Ethan. "WTF man. How does that corrupt?", asked Pyre. "If anything it actually purifies",said Brida. "Desire?", said Grim. "Desire for what? You gotta be a little bit more specific", said El. "Desire for power", said Mobis. "Power makes a man go wild, can make him do anything. It can also reveal a man's true nature. Like when a man becomes king and behaves differently than who he was before he was a king". "You're right, Power does corrupt and reveals",said Grim. "Can you write Valkerie as much as you can interprete, Mobis?",asked Brida. "I'm a bit rusty but power shouldn't be hard to write". "Look",said Ethan, pointing to a space on the temple wall."I think that's where you're supposed to write the answer". "The other writings look like they were carved with stone, guess we'll have to do the same",said Mobis. "Let's see....uhmmm, ELLO--MITH--GAIA, ELLOMITHGAIA,yh that's it", "you sure that's what power means?",asked El. There was a loud rumbling and the temple shook rigorously so much that most of them lost their footing and fell to the ground. The doors of the gate began to open slowly, rocks and debri fell from the top of the temple as it opened, cracks on the ground too. Whoever made this temple, used some strong magic to hold it together. Finally the door was opened and the gem could be seen in plain sight glowing so bright. "Guess that answers your question, El",said Grim. "Alright, we're in. Be careful, there might be booby traps ".Thin white threads hooked to every corner of the wall and hardly visible. It was like a modern day laser security system only the lasers here were threads. Any cut could release any set of traps. They had almost crossed the threads to the other side but Pyre cut one and ground started cracking. "Oh shit!", said Pyre. "Go!Go!Go!",yelled Grim. Everyone started racing to the other side of the temple. The ground was cracking open beneath them. They managed to make it except Pyre. He was hanging on the edge of the gaping wide hole the ground had created. It was probably a a hundred feet of thick darkness down there. "Pyre!! Hold on", yelled El. "Grim and Ethan grabbed Pyre and pulled him up. "You okay?",asked Grim. "Yh, I'm good". "Great,now we're never going to get out",said Mobis. "Worry about that later, I'll grab the gem". "I can't let you do that",said Ethan. "What?", said Grim. "Ethan what are you doing?",asked El. "I can't let you give away the gem to some garden witch just to save your father. That shit is priceless, it could change our lives forever". "Ethan WTF man, when you'd get so greedy?",asked Pyre.
Grim just smiled and said "You know guys he actually warned me about y'all. Said y'all might want to keep the gem for yourselves. But you meant yourself, didn't you? And all this time I thought you were my friend, my best friend". The temple walls started rumbling." I'm sorry Grim, I can't". "Yes you can, you just won't", replied Grim. "My family needs help too", said Ethan. "Fuck you, Ethan!",said Grim as he drew his sword and so did Ethan. Then they started fighting away from the others. Brida ran to grab the gem. "Hey!!" , yelled Mobis as he went after her. The temple was rumbling even more violently now. Mobis pushed her away and they both fell on the steps. "What're you doing?",asked Mobis. "You want to remain poor all your life?,your choice. But not me",she said as she kicked Mobis away and continued running up the steps to the gem. Mobis pulled out the bow and arrow Grim gave him. "MOBIS, NO!",yelled El. The arrow pierced to through her back and came out front where her heart was. She died immediately. Pure joined the fight with Ethan and Grim but he didn't last long as Ethan drove his sword through his stomach. "Pyre!!", yelled El.
Distracted, Grim drove his sword through Ethan's back and kicked him into the wide gaping hole the ground had opened. "Good bye, old friend",Grim said.
"Pyre, Pyre, Pyre stay with me, please. Please don't go ". El said weeping. Grim ran to the top of the steps and grabbed the gem. As soon as he grabbed it, the temple walls started coming off. Everything was falling apart. Suddenly, there was a lud roar and two beasts came flying out from a cave in the temple. "Mobis shoot 'em in the head. Don't miss ",yelled Grim. Then he went to where Pyre was lying. "I'm sorry, Pyre. I should never have brought you on this mission",said Grim. "It's okay, bro. It's not your fault", said Pyre. "I'm gonna make it worth it", Grim said as he held Pyre's hand with both hands. Pyre then turned to El who was still weeping. " You need to go, Mobis won't hold them off for long". "I can't leave you, I don't want to leave you". "You're not leaving me, I'll always be with you, here and here", Pyre said , touching her chest and her forehead. "I love you, I'll always love you", said Pyre. "Love you too", said El.
Mobis managed to kill one with his arrows but the other started breathing fire. "Go!Go!! I'll hold him off",yelled Mobis. Grim grabbed his shield and yelled, "Mobis". then threw it for him to catch. "For the fire!". Mobis nodded. "Thank you. I didn't know you well but thanks for all you've done",said Grim. "The pleasure is all mine", said Mobis as he turned to face the beast. "El c'mon we have to go". There was a cave behind the gem stand. Grim rolled away the stone covering it and they both entered. The beast had slayed Mobis and was flying towards them but the cave was too small for it to pass. The whole temple was crumbling down on itself. The cave led straight outside into the woods. Grim whistled for their horses and they hopped on them as they came, riding away. Once far enough, they both looked back over their shoulders and saw the temple collapsing on itself.
