Chapter 2 - Meeting the Prince

Another day begins, and it's our second day here in the kingdom. Me and my Master have prepared for the next round of roaring customers that will come here and visit us for today's opening night. But in the morning, he said a special guest my Master told me often come here on the second day.

"Vic, we're expecting a person here to come any minute now. you need to prepare yourself, okay?" Said Mr. Erik.

"Yes, I'm ready, Master." I clenched my fist and prepared myself for this guest my Master's talking about that may come here at any time.

The door opens to a young man wearing a simple attire with a black coat, a handsome man with a face that he cares for very well. Yet, he doesn't look lost when coming inside the bar.

"Ah, Prince Zeif. Welcome to Phantom Cat. It's been a while since the last time you've visited the bar." Said Mr. Erik.

"Mr. Erik, a pleasure to be here at your bar again. Can I have a drink you think will blow me away? Something interesting, surprise me." Said the prince as he sat down by the bar table.

"Let's see a Hot-blooded Prince that is handsome, and yet he has nothing to lose for." Master thinks about what kind of drink the prince would like.

"Can you make it refreshing and with a bit of a kick in the end." Said the prince.

"I have something for you then. It's one of my favorite drinks when I feel hot-blooded, a Moscow Mule." Said Mr. Erik while he began mixing the ingredients.

"A Moscow Mule? What's that is it?" Said the prince.

"It's a drink from our world often ordered by customers in my old workplace." Said Mr. Erik while he crushed pieces of ice into a copper cup.

"What are the ingredients in the drink?" Said the prince.

"Traditionally, it uses Vodka, Ginger beer, and a slice of lime. But I prefer mine with separate ginger ale and beer mixture. I use crushed ice for the fun of making it using a copper mug. You fill the cup with crushed ice, pour in the Vodka, Ginger ale, and beer to fill the top up, then put a slice of lime as garnish. Then with a metal straw to finish the look. And there we go, my version of the Moscow Mule." Said Mr. Erik as he demonstrated how he makes his version of the Moscow Mule.

"Wow, it looks really different, and it smells nice. Let's taste it to see if you can impress me this time." Said the prince as he sips from the straw.

"So that's how you make your Moscow Mule, Master." As I looked amazed by the way how Master made a cocktail.

"Traditional recipes are the basis of a bartender. You can still improve upon the recipes you learn from the books you know. Manipulating the recipe is part of being a bartender since not everyone is in a vacuum. You can't just keep making the same old Moscow Mule people have improved upon them quite a lot now." Said Mr. Erik smiling at me.

"I see, so there's a lot of variants that exist on Moscow Mules, right?"

"Yes, Vic, there is. If you use tequila instead of vodka, you'll make a Mexican Mule. Then if you use Kentucky bourbon, it becomes a Kentucky Mule. If you use a dark rum instead, you'll make a Dark N' Stormy." Said Mr. Erik.

"Wow, this is a good drink. A very refreshing one indeed. You surprised me a drink with ginger in it. I thought they're only used in soups or other hot foods. I did not expect it to be in a refreshing drink." Said the prince.

After that, the prince was satisfied with the drink we served him, and my Master informed him about the order from his father. He left feeling refreshed, and seeing a customer like that is nice every once in a while.
