Chapter 10 : Vale Eval

I looked over the elf's slim shoulder and saw a figure standing in front of me.

That figure appeared to be in his 50s. He had brown beard and short brown hair with an army cut style. He was also very muscular. He had a huge battle axe equiped and heavy armors cladded his body.

"Who... Who are you?" Asked the injured elf as she was protecting me.

"Me? I'm your death." Replied the man with a smile.

"Tch..." Said the injured elf.

The injured elf gathered her strength to raise her arms towards the man.

"Princess Eris. I'll hold him back! Run away!" Said the injured elf.

"But... What about you?!" I asked with a bit of tears and fear all over my face.

"Don't worry for me. I'll be back." Said the injured elf.

I couldn't move. But I slowly gathered all my strength to atleast get up to run away.

I bolted towards the exit. Almost stumbling on the way but I was able to balance myself.

"Where do you think you're going?" Said the man as he bolted towards me.

As he was about to catch me, a sharp spear hit him. The spear was created with water type liquid.

As the spear hit the bearded man, he was knocked to the other side. But he was able to block it in time with his axe.

I looked over and saw the injured elf throwing it.

"Run!" Said the injured elf.

I bolted towards exit and opened the door to run away.

"Looks like we got a fighter over here." Said the bearded man as he gave of a sinister smile.

"Huff... Huff..." Panted the injured elf

I was able to safely get out of the world tree. As I got outside, what I saw wasn't the same lively streets of Silvendell. Instead it was on fire, vendors were burnt down. Dead bodies of other elf was spotted on the streets.

Seeing this scene a shiver ran down my spine. I couldn't move a inch. I fell down on my knees.

"Urgh!" I screamed in agony.

Suddenly, a large thud was heard from behind me.

The entrance door was blown past me almost hitting me.

As dust settled down the entrance way, I saw a man. It was the bearded man.

He was dragging his battle axe on the ground with one of his arm. On his other arm was the head of a familiar face.

It was the elf who was protecting me. Her eyes were widened with tears marks on her cheek. Blood was falling down her decapitated head. With the way she had an expression on her decapitated head, I realized he suffered alot.

Seeing her head, I couldn't say anything, nor move w muscle. I was overcame with fear. Suddenly I felt something on my stomach.

I put my head down to the ground and vomited at the sight.

"Ugh!" I panted as I was vomiting.

The man was walking towards me. It felt like I was about to die. I couldn't move any muscle.

The man came in front of me and grabbed by my hair lifting my head.

"Ugh!" I screamed in pain as he lifted my head.

"Looks like your little elf bodyguard is dead." Said the man as he let of a loud sinister laugh.

Tears started to roll down my cheeks as my death was impending.

The man let go of my hair. I was on the ground with my head looking down.

The man lifted his battle axe with both of his arm above his head. I knew that I was gonna die there.

"Goodbye little princess." Said the man.

He sliced his battle axe cutting through the air. I clenched my teeth.

*Clang*

Suddenly, a loud clanging of steel was heard. I looked up and saw the man fumble behind him as his axe went the other way.

Standing in front of me was a familiar back. He had a sword on his arm. As soon as I saw the familiar behind, I knew that I was in safe hands.

"Vale..." I said as I cried, muffling my words.

"Are you okay? Princess Eris." Said Vale as he was protecting me.

The man was able to balance himself and hit the ground with the tip of his battle axe. A loud thud could be heard.

"Looks like we have another fighter." Said the bearded man as he laughed.

"Stay behind me princess Eris." Said Vale as he grasped his sword tightly.

He lunged towards the bearded man with his sword on his hand.

The bearded man lifted his axe and blocked Vale.

A loud clang noise spread across the street as both the metal striked together.

The bearded man gave of another sinister smile as Vale hit his axe.

"What is your name, fighter?!" Asked the bearded man as he was smiling.

"Vale... Vale Eval!" Answered Vale.

Vale jumped a few meters behind to catch up on his breath.

"Very good name. I'm William. William Shepherd. Let's have a good fight, Vale!" Said the bearded man.

He suddenly jumped towards Vale. Even with his huge muscular body, he was able to close the distance in a blink of an eye.

William striked his battle axe aiming at Vale's intestines.

Luckily Vale was fast enough to barely block the attack with his sword.

But the force knocked Vale few meters behind hitting a wall.

"Vale!" I shouted as I ran towards him.

As I reached the crash site, it was covered with dust in the air.

As the dust settled down after a few seconds, Vale's face was seen.

His face was covered in blood.

"Are you okay?!" I asked as tears formed on my eyes.

Vale coughed out a load of blood.

"Haha..."

He stood up as he was shaking his head.

"Ugh... You hit me too hard you bastard." Said Vale as he glared at William.

Vale took his sword from the ground again and suddenly jumped towards William.

Vale closed the distance in a matter of second. But it was as if William knew what Vale was gonna do.

William laughed. "Ahahahaha! This is it! Show me more of your trickeries!"

Vale slashed William from his left abdomen. But William's armor was strong enough to withstand the blow.

"Tch." Said Vale in frustration.

William looked into Vale's eyes. "You have to try harder than that."

Vale jumped a few meters back again but this time he landed besides me.

He was still positioned towards William.

"Princess Eris, I need you to help me." Said Vale as he was sweating through his forehead.

"How can I help?!" I said as I was still crying.

"I need you to use your magic so that you can destroy his armor."

"O... Okay." I nodded with a bit of hesitation.

Will I be able to break his armor? What if I fail? What if Vale gets injured because of me? Doubts started to run through my head.

But Vale was there to snap me out of it.

"Princess Eris! When I tell you to use your magic. Use it!" Shouted Vale.

Hearing Vale, I slapped both of my cheeks to clear my mind.

"Hmm!" I nodded.

Vale jumped again towards William.

Both William and Vale exchanged strikes. They were so fast that my child eye couldn't keep track of.

"Now!" Shouted Vale.

As I heard his shout, I understood it was my signal to help him.

I threw my hands towards William.

I started to chant a spell, "O mother nature. Give me your strength so I can defeat the enemy in front of me."

As I finished chanting suddenly, the ground beside me started to break. Tree roots started to spring out of the ground through the cracks on the floor and rushed towards William.

William noticed the incoming tree roots. But he was slow to react to it.

The roots was fast enough to bypass William's guard and was able to hit him on his left kidney.

"Argh!" Screamed William as he got hit.

A crack started to form on the heavy armor on William where it was hit. Blood started to spill out of the cracks of his armor.

Vale jumped a bit back as he was surprised by my sudden attack.

William held his wound where he was hit.

I ran towards Vale and stood right of him. I held his hand as if I was scared.

He glanced at me. And darted his eyes towards Vale. He smiled.

"Vale... Looks like you taught the little princess well..." Said William.

He was talking to Vale as if he knew who Vale was.

"I know right. After all, I was her teacher." Said Vale as he was smiling back at William.

I looked at Vale and asked, "What's wro-"

Before I could finish my sentence, I looked down and saw a knife on my left kidney.

My eyes quickly darted towards the handle of the knife and I looked up and saw Vale.

He had a sinister smile on him.

"Why..." I asked as tears formed on my eyes.

Blood started to come out of both my left side of my stomach and my mouth.

I dropped on my knees as I lost the strength to stand.

I looked up at Vale.

Vale went towards William and saw him reaching out to him.

William smirked and accepted Vale's hand and stood up.

Both of them looked at me and laughed.

"You really are one cruel guy." Said William as he was laughing.

"Come-on. It's our job." Said Vale.

"Anyway, looks like we have a great catch. It's a little elf princess." Added Vale.

I again asked, "Why did you do this!"

"Looks like you still don't get it. We are smugglers. And you are gonna be a slave." Said William.

I looked at Vale. "I trusted you..."

Vale smiled again, "Did I ask you to trust me?"

Hearing Vale my heart wrenched. It felt like nails were hitting my heart.

"You... You will pay for this..." I said before I lost my strength to talk.

I was still confused. I didn't understand what was going on. As time passed I lost the strength to keep my eyes open.

I was still in pain as my eyes started to flutter before finally shutting my lashes off.

Before I lost conscious I saw Vale and William walking towards me.

To be continued...
