"You mean …"
"Yes,your sigil is the only one that is able to manipulate diseases,if what the goddess told us were true."
Staring at the giant crow in disbelief,Lucas quickly grasp the situation and thought about the endless maryaid of possibilities his sigil can offer him.
Although, his knowledge is by no mean comparable to any medical worker or researcher in his old world,he have a feeling that it might be able to help at least a little here.
"Considering the smell of my room…yes I think there is room for improvement."
And with that knowledge, lucas started thinking about what might he be able to pull off with his ticking timer that might goes off at the whelp of the goddess.
"Gu…Hey I think I am going to need to prepare a little first before we head off,can you perhaps wait for us at the carriage?"
Hoping to buy himself a bit of time to think and come up with a spell that might aid the situation.Lucas urge the group of three away as they nodded nervously, hoping that lucas won't goes off on his much needed promise.
"I can tell what are you trying to do,but are you seriously thinking that you can come up with a brand new revolutionary spell so easily?"
Baffled,Fel berched himself on Lucas's shoulder again.Wondering if he was really right in the head after all or is he just a different kind of insane from the other 6 calamity.
"Might as well give it a shot, not like I got a life to lose at this point."
Winking at the confused giant raven, fel took a deep breath and get down to working on his theory with his brain running full throttle, hoping to give these people their end of the dark tunnel.
"Axiea(call sigil)"
---------
"Ugh..."
"ah…sir lucas are you alright?"
After waiting for more than half an hour,a tired and dizzy looking lucas finally showed up in front of the group of 3,who was about to go back to check on him.
"I am …fine…I guess.…"
Although he said that,at first glance anyone would be able to tell something is going horribly wrong for him at the moment.Considering the lack of colour on his skin and the occasional grunt of discomfort he let slipped.
"Relax, you are not gonna die with me here, well not yet anyway. But truly…what you did back there was …fascinating indeed."
Snuggling on the worn down leather seatings, fel grimes in annoyance as his talon poke through the cheap fabric and gotten stuck in them.
Half a hour ago,Lucas took a great gamble that in which he had very little to lose. And the result was
far more fascinating than he would have thought it would be.
"With this…it should be able to do something I hope."
Trying to get comfortable in his seat despite the noxious and dizzy feeling crawling in his body.Lucas have found a deep and profound respect for the people who did research on spells for a living.
He have learned from the book that,in this world people who have their mana consumed entirely could be put very close to death as it was a essential resource for their bodily functions.
Lucas felt that he had spent just a good majority of his mana before he could no longer resist the discomfort it caused him and manage to finish the job.
Holding the red gem stones in his closed palm,Lucas took a small nap and wait for the stones to do their magic as he rest on their journey.Fel would called him if there was a need anyway.
And at that they start their short journey towards the village, fel and lucas would destroy the threats found along the way before it could get close to their carriage whenever it was spotted, leaving a trail of foreign beast and monster corpse in their wake.
At night, the three villagers would teach Lucas how to make and maintain a camp and even a bit of cooking lesson from larra were granted.
Lucas also find her knowledge of herbal usage was is incredibly expansive and detailed.Making him in awe of how talented and hard working she was at such a young age.
"And she is incredibly pretty as well…it wouldn't be a crime to think she is from a noble household at first glance."
Wryly smiling at his own lack luster knowledge and characteristics,Lucas continued to listen to her teaching, paying no attention to the light rosy shade larra's cheek has whenever he got close to her
It was a thrilling experience for Lucas and he both enjoyed and learnt as much from it as he could.Grateful and happy that he could experience something similar to camping with friends.
That night, feeling rather anxious and afraid to fell asleep and never waking up again now that there are expectations on him to help them.Lucas decided to took a stroll around around a small lake nearby to calm his nerve after everyone was asleep.
The light night breeze does a remarkable job at calming his troubled mind, the star filled night sky took his breath away with its grand brilliance.Reminding him of how fantastical this world he reside in is.
Complimenting it was the reflective perfect natural mirror on the lake's surface, the scenery were surreal, like something imagined by a poetic master artist.
Sighing, now that things has calmed down a bit, lucas realized something…or rather someone will be missing from his life from now on.He squat down next to the edge of the lake, reminiscing about the memories related to the person that has spent the last 4 years by his side and through the worst time he has endured when his family left him.
"Leah...thank you for everything, without you I could never held on for that long."
Taking a seat and buying his face between his knee,he silently pray and wish for Leah and… the rest of his family to have a good life in that world after he was gone.
"I guess you never change even in a different world huh?"
A soft familiar voice bring lucas out of his prayer and thoughts, shocked,Lucas slowly raised his head to face the source of the voice in disbelief.
"Leah...??!"
Confused and even more stunned now that he saw what he imagined was a illusionary voice of the mind. There she was, dressed in a simple yet ethereal like white robe, slowly approaching him by stepping on the water surface.
As she arrived, extending both hand to cup his face in her palm. The touch was warm and somehow made him feel safe and secured that moment.
"I know everything is confusing and hard to accept right now lucas, and I don't have enough time to tell you everything either....lucas,this world is sick and diseased to the core and you maybe one of the very few key to its salvation.…"
Stopping in mid sentence,Leah pulled lucas into a hug as if she couldn't bother to continue the speech.Lucas wasn't sure what is happening at all, but at that moment all he really wanted to do was to embrace her back.
".…Lucas, the goddess of this world has been forced into a dormant state, you need to help subdued the other 6 calamity for this world and for your own sake.Do not ever trust the one that claimed she is the goddess under any circumstances, understood?"
Nodding at the promise despite still being a bit confused of the situation,Lucas relished in the warm embrace he never got to experienced, hoping it won't have to end soon.
"Good...I am so sorry for letting you goes through all these...but you will have to be strong for yourself,I wish I could just take you out of this mess,I really do..."
Slowly, the ethereal body of Leah become just a bit more transparent, the embrace start losing parts of its warmth.Despite knowing what is about to happen,Lucas held on as tears started blurring his vision
"Stay safe,I know you can do this..."
And at that,Leah shattered into a mass of shining free floating particle which fade away soon after as well.Leaving lucas on his knee with his arms still stretched out but unable to retain what he once held so dearly.
Lucas doesn't know how long did he stayed at that position, trying to sort out his chaotic emotions and thoughts. But at the end,the thoughts that he needed to get to the village as soon as possible reminded him to get some sleep.
And so that night, after a few hours of tossing and turning, the young calamity fell asleep peacefully with the memory of the encounter with the one lady that never gave up on him until the very end.
____________
"What the hell is this?!?"
The lady on the throne scrunched her eyebrow, frowning hard at the event unfolding on the screen infront of her.In there, she saw how the young archdemon of plague went completely out of Her plan of action and thoughts.
At first, although she is suspicious of how calm and friendly lucas was acting, but chalk it up to as him being too confused and scared at the moment of rebirth.
She was even overjoyed when he manage to ultilized his ability so easily and early on.Thinking that her latest work is one of the more competent individuals.
Until, she finally stop being suspicious and making excuse but instead start accepting that this is a failed project on every angle possible.
"Lio…so I vividly remember that I asked you to choice one human that would be the most compatible with not just the sigil and the role he or she is about to perform, namely genocide, correct?"
Twirling a strand of dark blonde hair, she ever so slowly turn to face one of her advisor and subordinate.Despite her eyes being covered with a bandage, almost everyone there automatically start worrying for themselves, suspecting a hidden tremendous shift in her mood
"Y-y-yes your holiness,I made sure t-urghg!"
Helding a hand out towards Lio,the quivering hooded figure was pulled into her palm via a unseen force, even though gripped by his neck,he refused to struggle despite his drumming heart and suffocating throat.
"No explanation Lio,I need results, soon, fast and now, especally when I spent so much time and resources on you for this project.
"Y-yes your holiness,I will do better nex-No I will fix this problem right away, please don't worry!"
"Your holiness, prehaps we could give him another chance? To throw away a grown vessel like this is truly a waste…"
Sighing,a young man dressed in what seems to be noble garment steps in to halt the execution.Hoping to talk some sense into his rampaging goddess.
"...You don't get to talk back to me right now nera, but okay,I will spare him for now…you, get out of here before I get frustrated."
Releasing the grip on lio,who coughed lightly as his throat was released,Bowing and giving his gratitude for sparing his life as he retreat into the back, she then started to tap her finger against the thrones armrests seemlingly in random.
"But we need to think of something…he is not a pawn that can be afforded to be replaced with this time…I will give him a scare later to get him back in line..."
"And if that doesn't work? The young man seem like the sort to held his value and principles heavily,a rare kind, truly a shame…"
After the goddess claimed her next course of action, nera rubbed his temple in annoyance and frustration at how disastrous the situation has become.Feeling rather unpleasant that a good young and brave soul will have his fate sealed this way.
"Same thing as always of course…there is no need for a disobedient solider or wild card in a army."
As she said this, she tapping stopped as a the sound of a fading scream and grotesque fleshy body expanding, tearing and finally exploding in a splash occur in the back of the meeting hall, causing a heavy silent to befall the room.
"I got frustrated I guess"
Smiling at the pale faces of her servant, she can't help but get excited at how the event will unfold. She has been planning for this for centuries,it must be done this time without fault.
"Don't worry mom,I will make sure to save you this time."
