Manlin picked up the cup and set it aside on the table before stepping towards Liqiu.
"Don't do it," she muttered holding Liqiu's gaze. She knew what was going through Liqiu's mind. While she understood where Liqiu was coming from.
She feared that things would not end well for Liqiu if she went down that path. Madam Liu had already informed her of what happened to Liqiu's family and the part Duke Shenxiu played.
She grabbed Liqiu's hand and hissed, "The Duke is not someone you can go up against without a plan. He is ruthless, Liqiu. You could end up dead!"
Liqiu looked into her friend's eyes and smiled, "you know, Manlin. Ever since they died, I have never held a memorial ceremony for them".
She gazed out of the window, and whispered, "It has been five years, I bet my parents and brothers wouldn't recognise my face".
