I opened my eyes as the sunlight hit my face. I hid my face with my hand and tried to adjust my eyes to the bright light. It was morning for sure, as I could hear the birds chirping. I looked around, and we were in an unfamiliar room. Ayesha was sleeping with her head on my chest, and Anurak was nowhere to be seen. I remembered yesterday's events and how drunk we got. As I was trying to remember how we got here, I saw Anurak walking towards me, holding two mugs in his hands. "Morning, drunkards," he said, smiling at me and placing the mugs on the coffee table.
"You are so loud... Where are we?" I asked, sitting up straight and waking Ayesha up. "Well, in my hotel room. We were so sloshed we decided to go somewhere nearer, and that was my hotel room."
"My head hurts. I hope no one saw a drunk me or took any videos or pictures of me in that state," I said, taking the mug on the table with water. "I made sure no one was filming us... actually, my PA made sure no one got anything to talk about except how much fun we had together," he added, sitting next to me. "What time is it?" Ayesha asked, rubbing her eyes.
"10:30 am."
"WHAT!" Ayesha and I said. Ayesha stood up and took her heels and bag. "I was supposed to meet the director at 7:30 am. Where is my phone?" she asked, searching for it on the couch and in her purse. She finally got it. "7 missed calls... let's consider ourselves fired," she said, taking her shoes and running out of the hotel room. "Good luck!" I said as she closed the door. "Is she in deep trouble?" Anurak asked.
"If you mean that type of trouble where you get shouted at first, told all the mistakes you have committed from the beginning of the job till now, where you are humiliated in front of everyone, and then your jerk and arrogant of a boss says that one word which every employee fears... You Are Fired! ...well, no, she is not in that type of trouble," I said as I sipped the hangover liquid on the table. "You could have easily said no," Anurak said while chuckling.
"What's the fun in that?" I asked, shrugging my shoulders.
"I just want to sleep. I have no planned interviews today, no press conferences, no planned photoshoots, no planned fittings, or any other meetings except going for the trip's shopping with Angela, my fashion stylist's assistant, later on," I said, ruling out every possible work I have.
"This is just a mere average schedule of your work, and you know it by heart," Anurak asked, surprised.
"Yeah, don't you?" I asked, looking at him.
"I practically wake up, and whatever comes, I take and forget that I ever did it."
"Anurak, you got to be kidding me. I know everything before I sleep, when I wake up, when I am bathing, etc... I usually ask Ayesha if I forgot anything or to just tell me the order of how my things go, but I have everything in my head... you are one spoiled person. Ayesha does not repeat herself, and how do you get ready for shoots if you don't even know what you are doing on that day?" I asked, amused.
"Well, in the case of a shooting, I ensure I am always prepared. I don't play around in those fields, but when I have fittings, modeling, or photoshoots, it's a thing I can be reminded of in like an hour or so, and I am good to go," he said, seeming proud of what he said.
"Well, it doesn't work like that for me. Anyways, as I said, today, I have nothing hectic to worry about."
"So you are practically free," Anurak said, turning the TV on.
"No, I have a date with your bed. My head hurts, and I swear that TV is adding on to my headache. And what you just told me totally blew my brains away. Like seriously, I feel a migraine coming along. Can you feel it? Well, I can. I feel like I hit my head on concrete," I said, walking to his bed in his bedroom. "Wow, wouldn't that be awesome," Anurak said, rolling his eyes. I got undercover. "It wouldn't because you would miss me so badly. I am your life, Anurak, accept it," I said and closed my eyes as I heard him chuckle, and after a few minutes, I was asleep.
I woke up later on to people talking. My head was lighter, and I felt a little bit better. I saw Angela talking to Anurak. "Hey Angela," I said, walking towards her. "Good afternoon, you are late for the shopping, so I just bought what I thought you would like, and Ayesha told me where to find you. Let's go get you ready," she said, looking at me.
"Thank you, Angela... let's get going. I smell like shit and reek of alcohol... Anurak, thank you for hosting me in your hotel room. See you later today when I look less frightening," I said, getting my things. I had a lot to pack for the trip. Anurak also got busy packing with the help of his PA. I got to my apartment and started packing my clothes, toiletries, etc. I also went for a little quick shopping for things I needed in case I didn't get them wherever we were going, which was my favorite Good Stuff body wash, lotion, perfume, hand cream, beauty serum, and foot scrub. I had a lot to pack, and I had to decide what to pack and what not to pack, but finally, around 5, I was done packing everything and then went for a quick shower and dressed in a sweat pant and bomber jacket. I packed my laptop and phones and their chargers, plus my headphones, earphones, and AirPods. I made sure I had everything I needed. My driver arrived and picked me up and drove me to the airport. I arrived there, and it was Anurak, staff members, the director, and Ayesha who were traveling with me. We checked in, and when I saw my ticket, we were going to South Korea!!
"South Korea?" I asked my director. "Yes, South Korea, Anashe," he said as he walked away from me. As we were walking, I quickly searched the time taken to fly to South Korea, and it mentioned it being approximately 13-14 hours. I swear I almost fainted. I ran up to Ayesha, "14 hours!!" I said to her. "14 hours of what?" she asked, confused.
"14 hours to fly to South Korea," I said to her. I swear I saw her smile, but she quickly tried to look shocked, but I had already seen her. "Really?"
"Don't 'really' me, you knew all along, but you didn't tell me... some friends we keep," I said, walking away from her into the plane. I was sitting next to Ayesha and Anurak. We put our phones on Airplane mode and then got ready by fixing our things. We then buckled up and away we flew. I was so not ready for a 13-14 hour flight, seriously I wasn't! The stiffness and the sitting, oh Gawd, I personally loved sitting lazily with my legs widely spread and my body lying however I felt, and being in this sit was restricting and not comfortable, but I had to suck it up and accept it as it is.
Anurak and Ayesha fell asleep an hour after we departed, but I was wide awake, reading the novel "The River Between" by Ngugi Wa Thiongo. It was a pity I couldn't pronounce most of the words in the book, but I remembered to search for the pronunciation of the words later on. As I was reading, I felt some eyes on me. I looked up from my book and saw a young girl and boy looking at me excitedly. I smiled and waved at them. They couldn't help themselves as they squealed at me and waved back excitedly before they looked away and started giggling and playing around.
I kept wondering why our director wanted us to go to South Korea, what was there for us? I couldn't continue reading because I was dead tired, and my mind was just everywhere - last night's partying and today totally put it on 'almost shut down mode'. I decided to sleep as it was the only thing that could fix my messed up body. Nothing is so bad you can't fix it with sleep.
