Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 Encounter

After catching a plane that fell from a kilometre altitude, Jay felt that he had broken a personal record and couldn't help but feel a little proud of the results. But he soon realised he shouldn't stay long because he hadn't figured out how to meet the frightened passengers. He thought he might be the more nervous if he had to face a bunch of reporters and cameras.

So he chose to leave the scene before the first person walked out of the cabin.

His mind is still a little hot, and he has not recovered from the nervous and excited state just now. He told himself in his heart that he would get used to this kind of experience a few more times, which was commonplace for Superman. His thoughts were confused, and when he subconsciously flew to a height several hundred meters above the city, another "S" mark suddenly appeared in his field of vision.

With long golden hair, snow-white and flexible skin, impeccable facial features, and long legs in over-the-knee boots, the super girl appeared in front of him as if out of thin air, raised her golden eyebrows, and asked. Said: "Who are you? Why are you wearing my family crest?"

At the same time.

"This is leaving?" Helena asked suddenly after watching the plane land safely with Jay's help through the screen.

Batman, silently exiting the room, paused and said lightly: "I have already said what I should say. I have observed this child, he is still young and needs to grow up, but he has all the necessary good qualities; he'll figure it out."

"I guess he will, but I'm not talking about him now," Helena asked, folding her arms. "Aren't you even going to say goodbye? Considering we haven't seen each other in so long."

Batman turned half of his face, shadows and masks covering his expression - even though he was expressionless: "You chose a different path; I think it's time for you to report back."

"I think we all know whose fault it was." Helena was a little annoyed, "You just told Jay that he's been shut up in his little world and doesn't care about the rest of the world, but what about yourself? After the apocalypse, you haven't made Gotham your cage, locked yourself in there. You've pushed away everyone close to you - except Alfred because you can't get him out, and thank goodness he's keeping you awake."

Batman was silent, standing motionless in the shadows, almost melting into the darkness if you didn't look closely.

Helena's tone was a little more relaxed. She said, "I don't blame you for Mommy for a long time, Dad; I know you had to make the right choice. What I do now it's just what I do. A new way of life chosen. Life goes on, and I choose to keep moving forward, and I think it's about time you do the same."

Batman gave her a last meaningful glance but remained silent. There was no sound from that shadow for a long time, and Helena sighed, knowing he had left.

Facing the sudden appearance of the super girl, Jay was stunned for a while and didn't react until the other side repeated her question vigilantly a second time.

"Kara? You don't remember me?"

Carla frowned suspiciously. "We... do we know each other?"

Jay froze for a moment, then suddenly thought of something. He took off his goggles, and Carla suddenly said, "Jay?"

No wonder Batman said this thing would work; it seems good. Jay couldn't help but think of the setting where Superman can "perfectly dress up" with just a pair of glasses and couldn't help but be speechless for a while.

He still underestimated the pair of goggles in his hand. It was a high-tech product, using built-in hypnosis technology developed by a spy organisation. It can bring recognition obstacles to the human visual system; even the closest people can't recognise you as long as you wear it. In addition, it also has the unique effect of transmitting and amplifying the power of thermal vision, which is an expensive gadget.

"My God," Carla said in surprise, covering her mouth, "you...you're a Kryptonian too?"

"It seems so." Jay wanted to say that he had only confirmed the news not long ago because Helena said that his uniform could only activate if it recognised Kryptonian DNA.

"Rao (the name of the Lord of Krypton) is on!" Kara exclaimed, "I thought... I thought I was the last... You wear my crest, and you are Ai The Er family? What's your name? And how did you escape the destruction of Krypton? Do you have a spaceship too?"

"Well, it looks like we have a lot to talk about. Why don't we find a place to sit down and talk?"

"You're right," Carla took a deep breath, "Sorry, I'm just a little overexcited. I haven't seen any other Kryptonian in six years, and I thought... I thought I was the last one."

They flew to the Daily Planet building and sat side by side on the base of the golden sphere on the top floor. Jay was a little nervous. He had long wanted the opportunity to talk to Kara, but when the opportunity came, he didn't know where to start. He thought he might begin by answering Carla's few questions, but unfortunately, he couldn't answer them.

"So you don't remember anything from six years ago?" Kara asked.

Jay nodded. "Yeah. I thought maybe it had something to do with the invasion, but I can't remember it no matter how hard I try."

Kara nodded in understanding, then said sadly: "That invasion took a lot from many people and us. For so long, I thought I was alone on earth... You can't imagine what your presence means to me."

"So did I," Jay said. "I've heard about you from some rumours, and I know you're real, and I've always wanted a chance to meet you. I wanted to ask you—how did you do it? Yes? How did you fit in with ordinary people over the years and be one of them without a gap? The more I tried, the more difficult it became; I couldn't pretend I was exactly like everyone else; it felt like something was standing between the whole world and me. Sometimes everything seems so far away."

Carla nodded thoughtfully and said, "Sorry if you've been disappointed by that answer—I don't know, and I've never done it. I can be clumsy and pretend I'm a normal person, but I can't deceive myself. In the past, Clark used to be able to chat with me; he texted me a lot and sometimes invited me to his family dinners - his family was nice. But now that he's gone, I feel like I Became a person and was left alone in this corner far from home, and even the hometown is in ruins."

Jay looked down at the fast-traffic street below and asked, "So, you're saying this loneliness will never go away?"

"Not exactly." Cara smiled slightly, and the golden sunlight shone on her smile, making her look partwonderfulow; we have each other, don't we?"

Jay chuckled, relieved, "Yeah, I guess we're lucky."

The two sat side by side and stared at each other for a while. The breeze blew with the Metropolis's unique atmosphere, and it shook the two people's respective red cloaks, making Cara's splendid blonde hair flutter in the wind. Soft sunlight poured silently on the golden orb of the Daily Planet, making it gleaming.

Suddenly, Kara's face changed: "Damn!"

"how?"

She was stunned for a while and said with a sullen face: "I, I... I lied to Ms Grant and said to get some documents for her, and it has been almost two hours since I went. God. Ah, Madam Grant will kill me!"

Jay couldn't help laughing: "She doesn't have kryptonite in her hand; how can she kill you?"

"I have to go back." Carla jumped off the platform she was sitting on, her feet dangling in the air. She tilted her head and thought for a while, then asked, "By the way, there's still the prom, haven't you forgotten?"

Jay patted his head: "Completely forgot." Then he smiled in time before Carla showed an angry look: "Just kidding, how could I forget? Don't worry; I will be there on time."

"Really?" she laughed. "Then I'm counting on you."

"sure."

"Then I'll look forward to it."

Kara waved her hand and then flew down quickly. Jay looked in the direction where her figure disappeared, only to feel that the whole city was brighter under the sunshine, and the bright light covered almost every corner of his line of sight, making him suddenly feel that life had never been before. So beautiful.
