Laura and Margaret just stood there waiting for Anna to say something,Anna was actually speechless. Margaret came up to her and said, " I was born long before King James married Queen Mary, I grew up looking at pictures of you in the newspaper, they would announce that princess Anna was getting her new pony or princess Anna was having her first party in the castle . You lived surrounded by so many expensive things and people who loved you and you had money. So I felt jealous towards you ,so I made up a plan to destroy you. I thought if I took everything you already have I would be happy.' Anna asked her, " So were you happy did it make you content Margaret."
Margaret looked at Anna with guilt, her eyes full of tears of sorrow ," At the beginning yes I thought I was satisfied with the result of living in the castle taking Sly from you but at the end.." She signed, " I was just fooling myself, lying to you and your family wasn't the answer."
Laura interrupted her daughter , " Please princess Anna forgive my daughter's actions, it was mostly my fault not Margarets .I didn't raise her properly , I was drunk most of the time and when I wasn't drunk I had rich men coming in and out of the house paying me to satisfy their needs." Anna frowned at Margaret , " So this part of the story was true , how about the rape were you actually attacked." Margaret stared at her mother who said, " Come Margaret you have to tell Anna the truth so she will trust you again." Margaret nodded and looked Anna in the face and said, " Anna I am going to begin to tell you the truth ,the whole truth about myself so that you can know your sister better."
After learning that King James was her real father she got really excited, " I found my father ," She looked down at the article about him and said, " I also have a little sister." She folded the article and put it in her pocket. That night she paced around her house thinking of what she will do after knowing the truth, if she confronts her mother she might deny it . She had to figure out a plan, oh how she always dreamed of living in a castle instead of this dump ,old apartment. Then a thought crossed her mind she will pretend she was attacked by some thieves and maybe her father king James will take pity on her and let her stay in his home. She left her home without telling her mother about where she was going, " You didn't tell me the truth about my biological father ,so I am not going to tell you that I am going to go looking for him."
She took some money from her mother's piggy bank and went to the train station to catch a train to the castle. In the train she began to dream how it would feel like when she met her father. Margaret imagines herself stepping into the castle and her father standing beside her , He asked her, " Yes how can I help you young lady?" Margaret hesitate , " King James it's me Margaret ,your daughter ."And she showed him the picture of himself with her mother " I am Laura's daughter, do you remember her?" King James came closer and peered at the picture and began to cry, " Oh dear Margaret you are my precious daughter why did Laura tell me about you." Margaret cried , " It doesn't matter anymore dad. The most important thing is that we are together." King James opened his arms towards Margaret, " Margaret come over here and give your dad a hug." She towards him like a little girl and landed safely in his arms and smiled, " Oh daddy I dreamt of this day for a very long time."
Margaret then imagined another scenario: she walked into the castle wearing torn up clothes and smelling so bad . Her hair was full of grass, "I finally reached my father's house." She told herself , a woman wearing a maid's costume came and asked, " How can I help you?" The maid looked at her in disgust. Margaret smiled, " Hello I am here to see king James my father." The maid went to inform him. She looked at the great walls around her and the huge ceiling and wondered how it is to live in such a place and thought to herself she is finally going to part of a family, Then king James came in and said in a unfriendly manner, " If you are a beggar and you need money you have come to the wrong place you lady." Margaret smiled and shouted, " Daddy I am not a beggar it is me Margaret your daughter."
" My daughter?" King James asked, " You must be mistaken, I only have one daughter and that is my beautiful princess Anna, the only pride and joy of my life." Margaret felt hurt hearing what he just said ,but that did not stop him from telling him the truth, " I am Laura's daughter don't you remember her."
King James paused and was thinking, " Laura, oh yes that women almost ruined my life, she came between my lovely Mary and I ,but thank god Mary forgave me and we got married . Laura manipulated me and if you are her daughter I don't want anything to do with you. Guards remove her out of the castle at once." Margaret began to cry while two guards tried to remove her from the castle, " But dad I just wanted to be part of your family please!" Margaret woke up in the train beginning to cry, suddenly she thought of some thing, " What if he didn't want anything to do with me? What shall I do then?' Then an idea came to her her , " I know I won't tell him the true .I will pretend to be a poor helpless women that needs a place to stay." The train stopped in the station and Margaret got off.
She rented a small apartment next to the castle and began thinking of how she was going to implement her plan to enter the castle. The first on the agenda she paid some thugs on the streets to make it look like she was going to be raped. Then the next few days she followed Anna to see which places she occasionally goes so she could plan the perfect location for the imaginary attack to take place." And the rest is as you know it right now."
Anna listened to Margaret's story from beginning to end ,surprisingly she was not angry at her but she felt sorry for what her half-sister had gone through so she hugged and said, " Margaret you're my sister." Margaret cried and said, " I'm a very bad sister, I wouldn't blame you if you threw me out of the castle!" Anna replied, " Throw you out , no I would not do that to you. I just wish you were honest about it from the beginning." Margaret dried her tears and said, " I was so angry and jealous of you that I thought if I hurt you I would feel better." Anna asked her, " Did it work?" Margaret laughed, " No, the truth is I felt worse. I am sorry I tried to destroy your relationship with Sly . Will you forgive me?" Anna hugged her and said, " Of course I forgive you. Now dry your face because I think it is time for you to meet your father. " Margaret laughed and nodded in agreement.
Anna went to search for her father with Margaret right behind her .He was sitting in the garden with her mother , Margaret stood there and told Anna." I don't think I could confront him. What if he rejects me?" Anna gave her some encouraging words." Our father is a fine and forgiving man , he accepted Sly in my life and Sly is a thief." That gave Margaret more strength to save him . They both went to her father and Anna said, " Dear father Margaret needs to tell you something important." King James smiled, " What is it dear girl?" Margaret stood up high and said, " I am Laura's daughter. " King James froze for a second then said, " And who is your father?" He began to cry because he knew right then what the answer was. Anna took her father's hand and put it on top of Margaret's and said. " You are dad , Margaret is your daughter." King James took Margaret by his arms and hugged her sobbing, " Oh my daughter I have another daughter."
