Chapter 28 - Paranoid

Titling her nose up, back straight and observing Diviya almost suspiciously Janice explains "Master did not know what you enjoy best for breakfast, as such he ordered we prepare a few options for you," while gesturing the spread on the trolley in front of her.

Janice then moves the trolley over to the table in Diviya's room and started unveiling plates that was covered with huge expensive looking silver cloche.

On hearing this Diviya inched closer to Janice, "really?" and that came out a little too amazed for Diviya's liking. "He didn't have to", she rushed on.

Diviya was swooning, nice small step she thought. Though his presence would have been a whole lot better.

"Of course he didn't but he chose to, for you." Janice gave a tight smile. Her straight stance never faltering.

Janice has been at this castle for the past eighty five years, she is a werewolf, sworn allegiance to the one true King 'the Demon King' and she have seen it all.

The lengths some of these women would go, by faking pregnancy, to forcing themselves on him every chance they got. The lengths they go too to get a moment with him, of course the Beta Drew encourages them, he had a lot to do with that.

Janice almost rolls her eyes.

She grimaced inwardly.

She never liked that boy, she just can't put her finger on the reason why. Janice just knew she didn't trust him neither does her wolf Aretha. Nevertheless the Demon King chose him, she in the end respected her King's choice.

Snapping back to the present Janice sized up Diviya— gorgeous, even in her natural state, she seems polite and not snobby, but she was not fooled. They all show their true colors sooner or later.

But what truly worries her is the location the Demon King chose for this one. Usually he keeps all his women and play things away from his castle. The only one that comes here is Sadie, whenever he has urges to be fulfilled.

As for Sadie goddess bless her heart. She always knew her place and never made any claims on him.

Well she is a smart Vampire after all. She very well knew the moment she started acting clingy in anyway it would be over.

Just. Like. That.

Though when the day do comes when it would truly be over Janice shivers inwardly.

That would be a day to be far away from this castle. Because if the Prophesy is to be believed then one day who knows how long again he WILL meet his mate.

Janice stole a glance at Diviya suspiciously at the thought of his mate, but she shook it off.

And as for Cathia well that bitvh stays in one of the houses on the compound, she as well is not welcomed in Castle Velia.

So Janice was a bit at a lost at this new development. Why was she here and where did she come from? And why the hell does SHE SMELL SO GOOD! She all but shouts in her mind.

Nevertheless she continues to and will continue to keep an eye on this one. Somehow she had a feeling that this one may cause some trouble.

Diviya couldn't quite read the woman, but she didn't get any out right bad vibes from the lady.

Diviya thought this must be a mama bear type situation more than anything else. So Diviya didn't take any offense.

She was the Castle's manager.

Though she really didn't have any personal experience in the matter but she watches rom coms and enough sit coms to understand how it works sometimes.

Plus of course Janice must have dealt with countless of snobs over the years, which were after the Demon King for purely fame, or status.

OR, even worse yet, to become his Queen!

That last thought almost burned Diviya's mind. Bitvhes!

She snares inwardly. A wave of possessiveness flows through her.

Diviya continues to look on trying to not let her emotions show, although she suspects maybe this werewolf can sense them.

She was almost sure she can and the thought of that is mortifying. Someone being able to easily sense her emotions and terrifyingly, they all can. She has to figure out a way to control her emotions as she is certain they were able to mask theirs with experience as she highly doubt they would let anyone read them easily.

And the fact that she is in fact a 'different kind' she strongly believes she had the ability to both sense theirs getting better at reading them and mask hers

Janice empties the trolley, plate by plate, she gently rest each on the table and laid them out strategically in front of her.

Diviya finally spoke shook by the turn her thoughts took "Yes indeed and that's why I am very thankful, besides I never ever experienced anything like this before."

She halfway gestures to the meal in front of her as her thoughts took a different turn.

She went on "and I never expected anything like this."

But in all reality that statement had a deeper meaning for Diviya, she truly didn't expect anything that has happened in her life from the moment she got out of that taxi cab the day before yesterday.

But she was not about to divulge any of this to Janice.

Just as Janice was sizing her up, Diviya was also sizing Janice up as well. She is here all alone, she has no one except her mate of course.

But other than that, Diviya recon that she may need to get to know some of these people as she will be spending a lot of time around them after all.

Janice was all done laying out dishes and she moves on to bend and reach the bottom part of the trolley pulling out a glass mug of orange juice, and a glass mug of iced water.

On the second shelf she reaches in and pulls out a coffee tray, with all that you would need to make coffee or even a cup of tea.

"Miss. Mason, when you are finished eating, just press that buzzer," Janice points at the small buzzer by the table and there was one at her bed head.

"Someone will come to clean this up," She gestures the now stacked table with an assortment of breakfast.

"And Michael will come by shortly after to take you around the castle and grounds." Janice finishes up lifting a thick bushy brown eyebrow.

She watches as Diviya's features lights up at the mention of Michael and for some reason that did not sit well with her.

This was confusing, shouldn't she be pleased that this girl may not be interested in her King after all.

That she didn't have to fend off another snob, or gold digger.

"Oh great, Michael!" Diviya breathes and this was only because she has associated Michael as being someone she knew and maybe they can become friends.

After all he got her here safely, then came and got her again when they realized that it was too much of a risk to have her stay out there given the effect she is having on the different kind.

Plus she and Michael have things to investigate.

He had brought her to safety at the castle and he promised to help her figure out what she is.

Diviya really felt like she had a friend of sorts, maybe, who knows.

But she was optimistic.

"Yes Michael." Janice said almost sharply then rushed on "I will take my leave now" and with that she gave a tight smile and turns on her heels and made her way out the door leaving Diviya in her stupor.

Diviya was a bit confused to Janice's cold response at the mention of Michael's name, or whatever it was that could possibly have caused THAT reaction? She bounced around questions in her mind.

She remained staring at the door that Janice walked out of and closed only moments ago…

The Demon King's Office...

On entering his office Adonis sets the tray down on his desk and heads straight to one of his many secret compartments, pulling out a bug detector then proceeds with his routine every time he steps into this office.

Though very few people has access. The fact that Janice has a key, it's alarming and not because of her.

She is the only one with access to his office, so if the cleaning team is in need of access. She simply comes and opens up for them and closes when they are finished.

Now call him paranoid but a cleaning crew can do a lot in the space of time they clean.

Nevertheless he finishes up his scanning and sits comfortably at his desk where firstly he pulls out his phone and contacted Michael, informing him of spending the day with Diviya showing her around the Castle and it's grounds. Something he was not happy about but he would not be able to do it and he didn't want her to have nothing to do waiting on him to solve this. As right now these witnesses were important. Diviya was safe.

"Janice will contact you when it's time, show her everything."

He truly wanted Diviya to have something to do today. While he was away.

And he wanted her to know HIS Castle and everything about it. This is now HER Castle too.

Her home.

Wrapping up that conversation he positions the breakfast tray where he wants it. As he thought of what he need to do next.

The Demon King already had a plan in mind and he needed the assistance of the Royal Elite Squad on this. Though he and Dracul were running point he still needed the Royal Squad for what he had in mind.

On the other hand, Goddess alone knows what 'pretend investigation' Beta Drew was running. He then picks up his phone again and contacted the Guard Tower. He spoke briefly with the Head, Paul McLean.

Wrapping up the Demon King told him as soon as he is ready he will make contact again. He then taps the computer making sure it's on as he began to scan his emails.
