Chapter 23 - Distractions

Diviya misses her mom and dad so much it hurts, they were her comfort, her home.

She remembers her mother's bright blue eyes, beautiful, warm and welcoming smile, her sweet cheery voice.

Then she desperately tries to recall the scent of her mother's perfume, that one that she wears on every day.

Diviya closes her eyes and inhales as she recalls... Her mother was wearing it that day, she had leaned in for a side hug before leaving the house. The last time she saw her mother alive, she gave her a side hug.

Diviya felt like her heart was being squeezed tight.

She closes her eyes again and rubs at her chest as she tries to breathe. Then soon her thoughts flow to her dad. She was also close with her dad and she misses him so much.

She gave a half smile as she recalls her dad's laughter. He snorts when he laughs and now she will give anything to hear it again.

She will miss the way his entire forehead and eyebrows creases every time he reads the newspapers, he was soooo old fashion with that. Nobody even reads papers anymore. Everything is on the internet and accessible via phone. "Oh Dad, mom I miss you, I miss you both so much." She whispers.

After a long moment in her grief and her tears flowing silently she eventually simmers as her mind suddenly got pulled back to the scene in the office and she blushes.

Remembering the Demon King as Dracul and Michael been addressing him now. His perfectly handsome face and his body was indeed sculpted to perfection. Defined and cut in all the right places, he has that defined line that shapes the lower torso, the pelvic area making that v line, so HOT.

He radiated so much power, she had felt it. It rolled off of him with ease.

And then there were those eyes.

Those eyes, staring into her soul beckoning her, calling her out. They were wholly pulling at her soul.

She wanted to get lost in them, 'what the hell? Girrl, get a grip.

It was now after 12am and Diviya was ready to give herself over to sleep without any more interruptions for crying out loud.

Poor thing fell right to sleep.

With those eyes being the last thought she had. She comfortably slept in her new surroundings.

When the Demon King left everyone in his office...

The Demon King left his office and speed his way to the blood bank on the other side of the castle below ground. His vampire had just woken and he needed to be sated before he interacts with his love.

He did not want to risk losing control and hurting her in anyway. Though he thought he will never hurt her or that he was even capable of hurting her but he didn't want to take any chances with his Queen.

Besides he just was not ready to face her. Not yet!

Reaching the blood bank, the Demon King grabs five bags from one of the fridges and punctures the first bag with his fang.

In no time he was on the last bag and he emptied it, he reach for the fridge grabbing five more bags and he repeated the process.

His Vampire was starved, once completed he started his usual pacing.

He was really afraid, one look into her eyes and she had him. He was hers for all eternity and he was scared that she would be his downfall.

He wonders how he was supposed to keep her safe and not be distracted.

In need of some fresh air he made his way to his spot on top of the Castle's roof where he continued his pacing.

"Geez burn a hole through the roof why don't you?"

After bidding Diviya goodnight Dracul wanted to check in on his best friend and knowing exactly where to find him, Dracul made his way to the roof tops.

Up there is really peaceful and calming at night and a night like tonight where the moon was shining bright and beautiful one can easily clear their mind.

Startled, the Demon King stops mid pace and chuckles, "See why this is dangerous?"

"No actually I don't." Dracul states, slightly amused.

"I am already distracted."

Dracul arch a perfectly shaped brown eyebrow.

The Demon King completely out of patience because he literally had none at the moment, hissed, "Look how easy it was for you to sneak up on me."

"But I didn't sneak, I was very obvious in my steps."

The Demon King's eyes were suspicious "Oh Goddess this is worse than I thought."

"What is worse than you thought?"

"Shut the fuvk up Dracul," Adonis snaps.

Dracul knew Adonis was struggling with the beasts in him to not attack him right now in this moment.

Hands up in surrender Dracul says "look bud, just tell me what is on your mind and stop expecting me to guess."

"What the fuvk are you doing?" Adonis asks, suspicion laced in his tone.

"Trying to get you to understand that you need to be clear with your words and don't just say half sentences and expect the other person to guess what you are talking about, trust me…..I am only saying this because I worry you will do this with Diviya and you would leave the poor girl more confuse than anything else and I just happens to care about you both"

Dracul wore a sincere and concerned expression on his face, as he stood there relaxed with his hands in his pocket.

He has been with Adonis all evening who he knew was a mess.

From since earlier in the day, hell from since that call if he was being honest and now that SHE was here and he KNEW for certain.

It was like it was even ten times worse.

The Demon King growls low and menacing, he was really testy and antsy.

But he understood Dracul.

Hands back up in surrender "see you still haven't explained yourself, what is worse than you thought?" Dracul really was trying to get his pal to open up to him and try and help him through the process.

Dracul himself was no professional, but he was a friend and he has been around for years and was always open to the idea of a true mate.

He relaxes once more and slips his hands back in his pockets.

Goddess knows he wishes he has a mate out there, but that would be a miracle.

All of his kind except for him was wiped out thousands of years ago and if wasn't for the Demon King saving him he would have been lost to the world as he knew it.

But the Demon King however have been against love for so long Dracul fears he might really ruin things with Diviya before it even got started and the life of many depended on this union to go as planned and for the prophesy to kick into place.

He fears something big is coming.

The Demon King sighs and ran his fingers through his hair, "How can I protect her when I am already so distracted by her? Look how you were able to easily walk up to me, loudly I might add and I did not hear a thing."

"This is concerning and I am afraid. Afraid that my own distractions will cause me to lose her and I just can't bear the thought of losing her."

Taking one hand out his pocket Dracul reaches over and pat his pal shoulders then says, "I know buddy, I know."

After a moment of silence….

"In all honesty I agree with the Demon, he is on to something." Dracul says breaking the silence.

The Demon King chuckles, eyes glows a fiery orange, showing the demon was out and just as quickly blue orbs were back.

"Yea he's right, we were all shocked as hell." He laughs heartily at how stunned they were and still not believing it was the demon who made the most sense and actually had some sort of plan to start with.

Dracul smiles, he hasn't heard his longtime friend laugh like this in a very long time, maybe when Avery was alive.

"Yes so first and foremost protect her and get to know her. Also we need to tell her about the Prophesy and who she really is."

Dracul sighs and continues "and let's not forget she will start asking questions about her parents."

Adonis ponders Dracul's words as well as Dracul himself when he says "You need to be the one to tell her everything and let her work through it, do not keep anything from her."

Dracul let that sink in because he wants Adonis to absorb his words so he would not have to outright bring up the subject of the past.

Adonis good as well knows that information which he withheld from Avery with claims of 'keeping her safe' is the reason she was easily blindsided, captured and killed.

And so he knows he does not want a repeat of the past, Diviya needs to know all she is up against and the long and winding road that is patiently waiting for her.
