Unknown POV
On a warm and sunny afternoon, the clouds were out, making peculiar silhouettes around the blazing sun that shown brightly in the beautiful sky above. In a quiet up and coming middle class neighborhood called Kahuna Heights, the air was stagnant, the leaves on the various trees that decorated the front and back yards of modern homes stood still.
All the while at the quaint home of a lovely old couple, stood three mask men in the living room.
The atmosphere was chilling and tense, the air of the room would be suffocating to anyone who was to walk in and behold the sight before them. These men were armed and dangerous, all three outfitted in jet black apparel, form fitting showing off their muscular and toned bodies. Also they each wore a pair of black combat boot.
One of the men 'Number two' ambled over to the fire place like he had all the time in the world. He then lit a fire and thrusts a branding iron in with a long handle. It has some type of patterned symbol to the top.
'Number two' stood by as he eagerly waits for the piece of metal to heat up at just the right temperature. While he waits he spared a glance at his partners in crime.
Meanwhile two of the other men, 'Number One' and 'Number Three' glance at the now dead couple. Each decorated with a gunshot wound to the head—middle of the forehead to be exact as they wonder how is it possible the girl escape their grasp yet again.
'Number One', which is the one in charge, he asks the other, "did you take your eyes off of this house at anytime? Even for the shortest of time that may seem insignificant?" He asks arching a flawlessly shaped brown eyebrow. "Now, don't you lie to me" he warned icily.
The other masked man 'Number Three' replies quickly, "it could not have been more than five minutes tops, I..I promise."
"What?" The one in charge snaps, not believing his ear. His ear must be deceiving him because this little shit had one job to do.
Number Three rushes on and tries to explain as he stutters slightly in fear "Boss j just before lunch my girlfriend called, sh she was having another flare up. I I am so sorry".
"You had ONE job TO DO", the one in charge roars, "not take your eyes off of the house, if you have to, someone must replace you", he reasons so earnestly at the end.
"I stepped away and was distracted b but it was only for about less than five minutes." He pleads.
"You idiot, that is enough time for a taxi to pull up, someone to get in and said taxi can be out of sight in that space of time. Hell she could have even walked out the road to the corner to fetch a TAXI." He all but screamed the last part now fully enraged at 'Number Three's' stupidity.
"I am so sorry, it it was my mistake and I will make it up to you, please boss," Number Three's hands are up in surrender as he pleads and begs with a trembling voice. Shaking his head back and forth a few times, he was stumbling over his words.
Number three was panicking and afraid for his life, he knew what was coming and he secretly prayed for mercy.
Not caring one bit, not even the tiniest for what Number three had to say. The one in charge asks "How could you be so careless?" with so much venom, but he was not waiting for an answer. "You know I understand your situation, I really do but you did not have to take your eyes off the house."
His lips then curls up in a crooked smile "so yes it was indeed your mistake." The leader spoke while pulling out his silencer and shooting Number two. One shot straight to the forehead, in a swift and smooth motion.
He then looks at the mask man Number Two who was by the fire place and say as he steps over the now dead mask man "get him in the truck and clean his blood up leaving no trace, and please hurry up and brand them already we need to get out of here."
Number Two jumps into action while the leader head for the stairs.
Heading for the girl's room he says, "The stars could not have aligned so perfectly for her YET AGAIN!!" He all but raged the last part. Squeezing his gloved hands into a tight fist he vows that this is far from over with a voice dripping with venom and an icy look in his eyes that if looks could kill he could have easily froze someone to death.
******************************************
That very same afternoon a taxi cab turns the corner and onto Diviya's street which is in the same up and coming middle class neighborhood. To her dismay both she and the taxi driver straightens and they crane their necks trying to see as far ahead of them as possible.
Higher up the street there were the bright flashing lights of what look like multiple police vehicles.
"Looks like something big is happening just up ahead, Miss how far are you going?" The driver asks.
Diviya did not hear a word he said, her main focus was ahead of her, lost in her thoughts wondering what could be? Why were there police cars on her street? And why does it look so close to her home? Could it be my neighbor, oh god did something happen to that poor sweet old lady?
"Miss? Miss how far up ahead are you going? Looks like we are being rerouted and this is as far as I can go. MISS?"
The driver had only crawled a few yards since Diviya was in her head.
Diviya jumps out of her thoughts and looks at the driver who was already looking at her, then she looks up in front of the taxi closer to them and she now observes a policeman directing cars to turn around, looks like she have to go the rest on foot.
Though there was a horrible feeling that was forming in the pit of her stomach and clawing at her insides, she looks at the driver, smiles and says, "thank you sir, right here is fine", not like she had much of a choice anyway, vehicles were being rerouted.
"Ok Miss, have a good evening".
Then she gets out of the taxi and makes her way to the policeman.
Reaching the policeman who was busy directing traffic she looks up at him and says, "ex excuse me Officer", then she looks pass him. "What is going on? I need to get home."
The Officer turns his head slightly and looks down at her "mam nobody gets in till we get the all clearance" and he just looks away continuing his duty at the time.
Diviya thought for a moment, how am I going to get home, how long will I have to wait? She was excited to share the news with her parents.
"How long will I have to wait, how long does it usually takes to get the all clear after something like this?" Still unsure as to exactly what this is.
A long moment passed and so Diviya thought the Officer did not hear her, but as she was about to ask again he says "it takes as long as it takes".
That did not help Diviya one bit, after her lunch today with her best friend and after hearing the good news all she wanted to do was go home to her adoptive parents and share the news with them.
Instead she was now stuck on the side of the road with no idea as to when she will be able to get home.
"Such a sweet couple" Diviya heard a passerby say to her companion.
"Oh that poor girl, my friend is her neighbor" she overheard another pair chatting by the roadside. Diviya eased closer to hear what else the pair had to say, but she was not prepared for what she heard next.
"They said it was a hit." Diviya knees got weak for the poor soul who has to hear the news that their loved ones were murdered like that.
However that feeling in the pit of her stomach won't leave her. Slightly uneasy, she walks back to the Officer and asks. "Sir is it the Masons? I am their daughter, did something happen in that house?
The Officer's head snaps to her and asks "What's your name"?
"Diviya Mason".
The Officer pulls out his walkie talkie and calls another Officer over to him giving the instructions for him to take over duties here.
He then turns to Diviya and says "come with me."
