Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

"Sorry for ditching you yesterday." Jason apologised.

"No. There is no need to apologize." Kansas assured him.

"I heard you went missing yesterday you said you are going to the bathroom then…" Oh yesterday the party Kansas's first party. Well it didn't go as planned because she didn't even taste a single drop of alcohol. Instead she spent the whole night holding some overly sensitive white girl who couldn't stop crying! Like who cries when the is booze around!! But thankfully Kansas doesn't feel the same way about last night as me. She feels good. She feels wonderful because she was there to help someone when they were at their lowest.

"Sorry about that."

"Where did you go of to anyways? And how did get home?"

"Uber." Kansas answered completely ignoring the first question. A girl came up to them. It was the girl from the party. The cry baby.

"Hey guys. Can I talk to you?" She asked.

"To me?" Jason responded.

"No. To her."

"Sure." Kansas answered. Jason looked at them suspiciously. Kansas followed the girl and they stopped just a few feet away from Jason.

"Hi." The girl said. Kansas grinned for a second. The girl continued.

"Thank you for what you did for me last night. I really needed it. And I'm sorry for making you miss the party."

"I didn't do anything."

"Yes. It's exactly what I needed. Someone to not judge me and just comfort me. Thank you."

"No problem." Kansas said.

"I'm Natalie Nicole-Portman Johnson."

"That's a lot of names!" Natalie Nicole-Portman Johnson laughed a little.

"No! Natalie is my name. Nicole-Portman Johnson is the surname."

"That's a very long surname!"

" My parents don't like sharing Nicole-Portman is my mom's surname and Johnson is my dad's."

"Well if they don't like sharing so much. How did they agree on who's in the middle?"

"Court. You?"

"Njabuloyami Kansas Qoloqolo." Natalie Nicole-Portman Johnson looked puzzled.

"Call me Kansas."

"Call me Natalie."

"Your friends with Jason?"

"You know him? Your not new here?!" Kansas asked because she hadn't seen her here before.

" Yeah I'm not new. I got suspended for three days on the last day of school last year. I couldn't exactly go through with the punishment so they let it fall into this year."

"Harsh! Yeah he's my friend."

"So you are friends with the whole crew?!" Kansas made a face she met them last night and to say the least they are not her click.

"I met them at the party for the first time and…"

"Not your cup of tea. I know. Sometimes I wonder how Jason is even their friend!"

"Same thing I thought. Jason is nice. He's sweet and funny and they are… Well annoying. Fake. And pretentious."

"Exactly!!!!" Natalie exclaimed in full agreement. They both chuckled.

"Jason was the only person who was nice to me here on my first day." Natalie said.

"When did you come here?" Kansas asked.

"Second term. 9th grade. I knew no one. And I already had a reputation in this school. Everyone was just like. Mean! He was the only person who was nice and welcoming. Even though he knew what I had done."

"I know it's like he doesn't care. After that fight I got into. I knew I was ruined. But he had my back and he didn't even know my name."

"Well it's only your first week you can still make new friends." Natalie assured her.

"I came here in the 10th grade! That window closed years ago!" Oh, God! Kansas your so socially awkward and stupid! Can't you see she wants to be your friend?!

"Well good luck with the cake and pretentious ones."

"God! No!" They both laughed.

"Can you show me the bathroom?" Kansas asked a tad bit embarrassed. Natalie nodded. Some girls were tongue kissing near the bathroom door. Kansas widened her eyes. They made their way to the bathroom. Kansas looked disgusted.

"What?!" Natalie asked. Kansas couldn't stop making the face and just couldn't talk. She had never seen girls kiss each other especially in that manner. It was disgusting and unusual for her.

"Go and pee." Natalie instructed. Kansas went and she was in awe of the cleanest, freshest and biggest bathroom she had ever seen in her life. Not to mention in a school!

"You should never let Jason see that face." Natalie said as Kansas came out of the bathroom.

"What face?"

"That homophobic disgusted face."

"What's homophobic?"

"Someone who's against like gay's and lesbians and all that shit."

"Why would he be offended?"

"He's gay!" Natalie blurted out. WHAT!!!!

"WHAT!!!" It came back to her.

"They're a thing!" Hailey said.

"He's into girl's now."

Shit he is gay! Her first crush is gay! Wait what does that even mean?

"What does gay mean?"

"He fucks guys! He dates guys. What rock have you been living under?!!!"

"A massive rock clearly!" Kansas exclaimed. Damn! Kansas is really out of touch with the world!

"Well. Being homophobic is not wrong. Just that society will never let you feel what you want to feel."

"Great! Now I have to please society also."

"Well that's the real world." Natalie commented.

"Let me take you back to your friend." Natalie said. C'mon Kansas here's the window. C'mon!

"Can I sit with you instead?" Yes! Kansas is not a lost cause!

"Sure." Wait did they just both make their first friend in their lifetime! They got out of the bathroom room.

"I think someone's calling you." Kansas said as they were walking. Natalie looked back, a guy ran towards her. She definitely didn't look happy to see him.

"What?!" She exclaimed.

"Kalmer. Did you bring the book?"

"Locker."
