Chapter 1 - CHAPTER (I)

Boyle Heights, California

The clock struck midnight, and the night wasn't young anymore.

The rain hit hard on the roof on Nate's Single cabin pickup truck, parked on the road side. Inside the truck, Amanda Hall sat on Nate's laps, her top off and his hands fumbling to un-do her bra. He kissed on the top of her breast and buried his face on her, feeling the warmth of her skin on him, his hand under her skirt. Her soft mourns made him want more and more. The liquor they had taken back at the party only gave him energy.

The rain outside blurred everything outside, but Amanda, looking through a small window on the back wall of the pickup truck, was able to make out two figures under a street light. They seemed to be in an argument.

"Nate stop!" she suddenly said in a whisper, as he pulled on her panties.

"Mhh... what?" He groaned kissing on her now exposed breast.

"Something is going on outside," she told him squinting her eyes at the two figures. Nate wasn't listening.

Her body's desire screamed at her, but what was happening outside seemed more interesting. "Nate…" she mourned closing her eyes, on opening them, she saw one of the two figure fish out something and pointed it at the other, then a loud spark and gunshot sound that tore the night silence, followed by stillness.

The two teens froze, the gunshot sobered them up, she saw the other figure fall. Their hearts seemed to have stopped for a minute. When they recovered, she quickly shifted to her seat and they sunk into their seats as she quickly putt on her shirt.

"What the hell-" she was speaking but he cut in.

"Shhh!" He drawled and after a second, they slowly moved up and peeped out, to their surprise, the man with the gun was dangling, kicking his feet then he suddenly stopped and dropped from the other's grip.

The man standing turned his head to them and they sunk back into their seats.

"Thi…think he saw-" Amanda wanted to ask but before she was done, Nate's window shuttered and a hand was chocking the life out of him. Amanda found herself screaming.

Nate kicked and tried to pull the hand from his neck, but the guy didn't budge. Nate bit the hand in an effort to get him to let go, but that too did nothing to the stranger. Amanda caught the guys eyes, she saw nothing but coldness, then she heard a snap and Nate stopped moving. He was dead.

When she looked up from Nate's body, the guy was gone, she was shaking, she heard a touch on her door and she slowly turned her head and came face to face with him. He didn't break the window, just stared at her as the rain water ran down his face.

She was sure her neck was next to be snapped. The headlights of an oncoming car distracted her and she looked at the car, on turning back, he was gone. She looked around but he had vanished in the night. She turned and looked at Nate's lifeless body, eyes wide open and pale, blood stains around his mouth.

Her mind raced. For a minute, she didn't know what to do, then it hit her, she fumbled with her purse and got her phone with trembling hands, punched 911 but before she could call, she saw Nate's body move. Her phone slid out of her hand when he blinked, "Oh My God! "She exclaimed holding his face between her palms, in visible shock.

"Nate you… you are aliv…" She broke off.

She leaned in and kissed his forehead.

"I was dead?" he asked. "I was dead." He stated looking at the shocked Amanda.

The rain outside had subsided, in front of them, she saw the headlights of an oncoming car, she got out.

"Where are you going?" He asked weakly.

She flagged the car down, a man was on the wheel, "Need a ride miss?" he asked after rolling down the window. His eyes dropped from her face to her open cleavage.

"Yes please…my…my boyfriend, he needs a hospital."

The look on his face quickly turned to a disappointed one but he helped get Nate into his car. Amanda opened Nate's door and the Samaritan helped him out. Her head unconsciously turned to the right where the incident had happened. The street light was out and she couldn't tell whether the dead man was there or not. She closed the door and followed the man into the car.

She sat next to Nate, "where are we going?" He asked holding her hand.

"A hospital, just hang on babe, you'll be fine," she said reassuringly as the man on the wheel took a right.

Nate had a strange taste in his mouth, the driver was directly in front of him. Nate looked at him and he thought he could hear his heartbeat. Nate slowly leaned forward and his gaze settled on the guy's neck. Amanda tried to hold him back but failed. The guy looked back at Nate then back on the road.

"What the hell man!" the Samaritan cried when he felt him breathing on his neck.

"Nate…" Amanda called in a drawl, "your teeth," she pointed out when she saw his upper canines elongate. She felt all her energy get drained when Nate dug his teeth into the man's neck and sucked.
