Benny's high school name was Titanus Academy Branch C. As the name suggest, it was just a branch of the leading high school of Titanus City. However, even as a branch, the academy consisted of several buildings providing nearly any facility.
Benny made his way to his class, Class 2H, The Logistics Department. However, you can kick the word 'logistics' out of the window and add 'forever loser maker' because that's the whole purpose of this class.
The class's primary purpose was to educate children on general studies to make their way to college for higher studies or work for some company. All of which is only possible if a student is good at licking the boots of someone from a potent family.
For example, suppose Benny begins begging someone like Wendy Thena for mercy, stating doing anything she would ask for, just like Kevin, and getting on her good side. In that case, there is a chance he can get accepted to a college or a university.
However, Benny didn't have any intention of doing such acts. Wendy hated Benny with a passion, so she would rather kill Benny than make him her sidekick. The only reason she hadn't killed Benny was that she would taint her career as a killer since even if Naps lies on the last line of the food chain, they are still humans, and Zoey still protected Benny from time to time.
Benny also didn't need any support from higher families since his guardian was also a high-ranked Hero, so he could work for her in the future.
Benny entered this school because the school has an extensive testing ground and laboratories that can help Benny with his research.
"Benny, don't create any trouble for us like yesterday, or you will be suspended for the next week." As Benny was sitting at his desk waiting for the teacher to arrive, a teen approached him and said.
The boy had dark hair and eyes, wearing frameless glasses. His name was Sammy Punt. He was the class representative.
Benny inwardly sighed and nodded his head. He didn't want to argue with anyone today. Not that he was off at any fault here. Benny didn't know what kind of weed Wendy had taken yesterday to come to his class and beat the crap out of Benny for no reason.
"Humph. A Nap like you should keep a low profile and not talk back to kings." Sammy said and pushed his glasses, walking off.
Man, Benny hates these showoffs with glasses. Do they think they would become intelligent just by wearing glasses? Benny sighed and shook his head while adjusting his glasses. Oh, right, Benny also wore glasses.
But seriously, Benny had no idea why Sammy was being so arrogant. His Origin is called Armpits, where Sammy can detect anyone as long as he has smelt someone's armpit. His Origin was even more embarrassing than being a Nap, but where so many weirdos exist, a lone clown at the roadside won't attract much attention.
Benny's theoretical results were also better than Sammy's. The only reason Benny was placed last in the school ranking was because of being a Nap.
Benny sighed again and looked at the empty seat beside him. There used to be another Nap besides Benny in this class, but he died for unknown reasons. Now Benny was the only Nap left in this school.
"Okay, let's sit down, class." Soon a man with average height but good facial features entered the classroom and spoke, attracting everyone's attention. His name was Aizeck Lufar.
He was Class 2G's homeroom teacher.
"Okay, so today, we will be discussing some basics. Can anyone tell me what Heroes are?" Aizeck asked.
Before anyone could answer such a kindergarten-level question, Sammy stood from his seat and started speaking, "Heroes are humans with strong Origins who dedicate their lives to fighting against Mors and Demons." Sammy completed his answer and adjusted his glasses while gesturing towards Benny.
Benny palmed his face, utterly confused if Sammy was born stupid or plain arrogant. It must be both. It was the most common knowledge in this world. Even newborn babies can define Hero before they can call their parents' name
Just because Benny was a Nap, everyone thought they were better than Benny. Benny didn't have any problem since as long as he could graduate from here and continue his research as an entomologist.
"True. Being Hero is the most well-known and desired profession in the world. But their jobs don't end with dealing with Mors and Demons. They also have to face Villains backed by demons, evil gods and dragons."
What Aizeck said was true. As trashy nature suggests, humanity isn't united against demons and Mors. Some criminal originations support the demon ideology that humans shall obey demons and avoid fruitless war. Evil gods and dragons aren't any far from this ideology and help humans who were abandoned by society. You know, everyday politics.
They are also the ones involved in the murder of his parents.
"Next question. Who are three ancient entities, and how their Blessing differs from each other?" Aizeck asked, but he pointed at Benny before Sammy could answer this question. "Benny, you should answer."
Benny nodded, stood from his seat and started to explain.
"The Three Ancient Entities consist of dragons, titans and gods.
Great Titan Cronus rules titans. The primary function of their Blessing is gigantism and pure physical strength. If a human's Origin matches a titan's abilities, then the Blessing also enhances the Origin. Among the people who received Blessings from three ancient entities, around 24% are blessed by titans.
Zeus governs the god faction. Their Blessing enhances Origins and grants the respective god's perk skills. The most notable feature of their Blessing was natural resistance against demonic energy. They bless around 68% of the humans.
Quetzalcoatl rules the dragon faction, making him the only ruler not belonging to Greek mythology. Unlike gods and titans, whose Blessings enhance Origin, dragons' don't do the same. Inclusion of fangs, hard scale skin, and wings if the bestowing dragon has, their Blessing provide one skill or ability of that dragon. 8% of the Blessings go to dragons."
"Excellent, Benny! While you're at it, can you also tell how someone can receive Blessing from these three ancient beings?"
"There are three ways a human can receive a blessing.
One is worshipping the desired deity. It is the most common method but a little challenging to implement since one has to spend years to receive a Blessing.
The second is hereditary. A blessing can also be inherited from parents, just like Origin.
Third is rare, where a deity grants Blessing randomly to anyone for unknown reasons."
The whole class went into pin-drop silence until Aizeck began to clap with a smile. Most students also wanted to clap for Benny, but they were too afraid to offend Wendy since Benny was number one on Wendy's hit list. On the other hand, Sammy had an expression like someone had asked for his kidneys.
While it was also common knowledge, most people are vague about Blessing and how they differ from each other. So Benny, as a Nap able to explain perfectly with no hope of going anywhere near a Hero, showed a great display of his intelligence.
"Excellent, Benny. As expected from a student with a great theoretical score, even as Nap, you can explain such common yet important information precisely," Aizeck praised Benny.
Benny didn't need praises, but he was not going to refuse some since he also wanted to feel proud of himself.
Aizeck then continued his lecture for the next one and half hours, the average time of a regular course in schools. After a long quiet time that Benny enjoyed a lecture. He thought his day would go smoothly until Aizeck dropped a bomb on the class, shattering Benny's every bit of hope.
"So I have an announcement to make. Second Year Hell's Gate training will be conducted in three days. Make sure to prepare yourself to assist your combat team as their support member."
Everyone, literally everyone, dropped their jaws on the ground.
"B-but sir, we only study logistics and have no experience assisting combat students. Let alone support; we don't even know how to fight." One girl raised her hand and asked.
Benny and the rest of the class nodded in a union as they were all afraid to enter a Hell Gate. There is a separate department for supporting students, so they didn't see any logic in going into a Hell Gate.
Every Hero school manages low-level Hell Gates for training purposes. Hell Gates are cautiously maintained, and schools ascertain their level before sending any students.
"Good question. Indeed, you wouldn't face any Hell Gate in your life, but breakout happens. So it is essential to know how to save yourself first. Besides, we are only going for analytical purposes. You can use your Origin freely or observe from sideways. A teacher will be going with all of you to administer the training section, so don't worry much.
Anyway, that's it for now. The group will be announced at the end of the last period. See you guys later." Aizeck explained, and after bidding farewell, he left the classroom.
