[That Night]
Belladonna had denied Xinora’s offer.
She would be a fool to do otherwise.
She had told Alaris of her dreams; while they had been talking, he had sensed the ambush, and she had offered to be taken as captive under the pretense of being Xinora.
It was a difficult thing for Alaris to agree to; he wanted to keep her away from the castle and assassinate the White King himself; he feared that while she was pretending, she might get caught and made to go through the third death. Belladonna knew the risks, but she was adamant about doing this. Whether she stayed with the Rebellion or allowed herself to be captured under the pretense of being Xinora, she was still running out of time to retain her own body. The tattoo Protest Uza had carved to her chest was slowly fading away.
It was temporary and only a matter of time before she would start actively trying to kill her once again.
