Chapter 2 - happy birthday

SERENETY'S POV

"happy birthday, princess", the sweetest voice ever woke me up. I snap my eyes open as I examine my surroundings, I am in my bed, at my home, safe.

The pink cotton bedsheet under my skin on my fluffy bed with a warm duvet draped on me I fell sound asleep last night. The memories which always hunts my mind in sleep is like a animal unleashed at the dark nights of my dreams. Dreams! Thankfully those are dreams or else I probably would have died with a heart attack or something when I was haunted by someone as in my dream. I sigh heavily as I look at my mother, her face is frowned as she saw my early little panic attack.

My sweaty face and dump palms as my eyes are moistened because I was on the verge of tearing up badly because of the same dream again and again. Why the hell am even mentioning it as a dream? Its a nightmare – a realistic nightmare.

Not to make it more obvious I give my brightest smile to my mother as I hug her. "Thank you so much mom", I tell her as she hugs me back tightening her hold on me.

"My pleasure, princess, its your seventeenth birthday, I cant believe you are growing so fast", she squeals as she pinch my cheeks softly making me pout.

"who said am growing, am still struck in the same height as I was four years ago", I sulk pouting with my lower lip as she chuckles ruffling my hair.

"dont you think you look cute like this, I know many guys wants to date a cute, short girl like you", my mom tells winking at me as I hide my flustered cheeks from her.

"Not gonna happen when am alive", my father announce his arrival with his usual possessiveness. I mean no offence I kind of like it when he cares about me so much but, sometimes it gets annoying as he kicks away all my male friends who wanted to just talk to me about homework or something.

"Happy birthday, my little princess", my father tells taking me in a big bear hug squeezing life out of me.

"Thank you, but hey dad! Am unable to breathe", I admit feeling suffocated in his tight hold as he frees me immediately.

"oh sorry sorry", he apologises giving a kiss on my forehead.

"your mom is crazy, boys are bactiviragus creatures, you should stay away from them", he tells making me chuckle as my mom frowns.

"am not crazy! you are a crazy man, but what the hell is this bactiviragus", my mom asks clearly not knowing anything about the father and daughter talk.

My father winks at me as he shrugs his shoulders not answering to her question leaving her in all confusion.

"Oh my god! Its past eight thirty am!", I exclaim in horror as my eyes fell on the watch beside my bed.

"Its your birthday sweetie, you dont need to go to school today, we can go to the beach and have brunch", my dad suggests as I shake my head leaving my comfortable bed in my pink pyjamas.

"I have to go today, next week am having final exams cant miss the classes if I want to top", I tell determined as I rush into washroom with a blue jeans and pink cardigan to layer on white crop top.

I slam the door shut before using the washroom for my needs, after brushing my teeth hurriedly as I get into my outfit, tying my hair up in a pony tail I get out from the washroom.

"Princess, have some breakfast", my mother yells from kitchen as I pack my bag before putting on my white sneakers. I hop out of my room in long steps as my dad is preparing a sandwich for me for my lunch.

"dad, I will buy my lunch from cafeteria and mom, just pass me an apple", I tell as she throws one at me which I catch successfully.

"once again happy birthday, princess", both my parents tells as I stroll out from my home running for the school which is few blocks away from my home.

munching the crunchy and juicy red apple, I step in the warm and cosy weather welcomed me as the sun is shining bright. This is the type of weather I like beside rainy days. It feels like spring season where the birds chirp their sweetest songs as the beetles and crickets provide chorus. Luckily I arrived at my school before the first bell rang or else I would have missed most important class of today.

"Serenity, wait", I hear a familiar voice of my best friend, I turn my head around seeing him panting hard, his blonde hair is messed up showing he ran way to far for the mean time. I smile at him as he regain his breathe. "I went to your home, your father said you have already left to school", he tells running his hand in his silky hair setting them properly.

"yes, I slept long", I tell as I greet my friend giving him a sweet smile with a hug.

"happy birthday", he tells hugging me tightly.

"thank you, Alex", I tell him though my dad knows Alexander and I are just friends nothing more, I know if my dad finds this out he will push me in the pool after filling it with gallons of sanitizer.

"here", he tells as he wrap my wrist with a silver bracelet which looks costly with a blue diamond hanging from it.

I gasp as I see how beautiful it is, I look into his eyes "you shouldn't have bought this!", I coo at the effort he put.

"its your birthday, how couldn't I", he tells tucking my hair behind my ear making me blush.

"Thank you so much, Its really beautiful", I tell him genuinely, hugging him once again.

"Not beautiful than you", he comments chuckling as I break the hug.

"lets go to, we will be late", I tell him taking his hand in mine which is a normal gesture we do it since we were kids. as we enter our classroom my other friends greet me with warm smiles and few of them stand up hooting me. "happy birthday, serenity!", my whole class greet me with a huge smile on their lips which made my eyes tear up in happiness. The rest of the day passed usually while learning and laughing with my friends.
