It was the day Eren managed to kill a high-level wolf for the first time. Two months had passed since he had first come to the Elven Village.
The days passed calmly, but there was great restlessness in the air. The burden on Eren and Emily increased even more. The number of creatures was increasing day by day.
"Do you think I can win if I face two high-level wolves right now?"
Emily shook her head. Eren was only Level 19 and didn't even know how to use a weapon.
They walked to the village together and had a nice dinner.
When Eren opened the door to Earth, Emily didn't want to come with him. She wanted to spend the night with Eren, but she stayed behind in case the village was attacked at night. Creatures these days were very daring.
Since tomorrow is the weekend, Eren also decided not to return to Earth.
"Actually, I was going to call my mom and ask something, but I'll do it tomorrow."
"What would you ask?"
Eren smiled. "I can't open the washing machine door. The machine has locked itself. My mom knows how to fix it."
The two wandered around the village until midnight. Several times they refused the elves who invited them to their house for a drink. They walked hand in hand and talked about different subjects.
"What do you think is the best way to deal with this forest, Eren?"
Inwardly, Eren was thinking the same thing. This forest was huge. It was so big that it was tens of thousands of times larger than the area of the village they were in at that moment.
For two months, the ancient hunter had traveled at unbelievable speeds, reaching the end of the forest. Emily's mother was at a higher level than they could even imagine. But after traveling for about two months in the forest, she arrived at a human settlement.
"Maybe we should burn it..."
Emily thought Eren was joking and smiled. Eren wasn't kidding.
..
It was very dark outside compared to the luminous plants inside the village.
Looking at those trees gave Eren goosebumps.
"When I'm at level 20, I want to choose a class that will allow me to kill jungle creatures en masse. It would be great if I could be a mage."
Emily couldn't tell the man next to her that no one had much choice in class choices. Because since the first day they met, Eren had been saying that he wanted to be a wizard.
But even among the elves who were closer to mana and nature, in some generations, no one could have magic-related classes.
Just as the two of them were returning to the village, Emily suddenly turned her head and looked towards the forest.
"What happened, is there an attack?"
Emily studied the area for a minute and took a few steps as if she was even considering going into the woods.
"No. I felt like I was being watched by someone. But it didn't seem like a monster. It was probably something else."
Feeling uneasy, Eren took Emily's hand again.
"We can arrange for someone to keep watch at night if you want. In the history of my world, there have always been soldiers who stood guard at night and provided security during the day."
While Emily didn't like the idea of soldiers, she agreed with Eren about the night watch.
"I'll be on Earth for a few hours tomorrow. I'd like to have these gems and stones checked. I need to research a few things in the meantime."
"Hmm…" Emily agreed, but still, her eyes darted back to the forest.
..
The next day, Eren returned to Earth and immediately changed his clothes. They had a nice breakfast with Mel, who came with her. Then they walked towards the market.
The neighborhood where Eren lived also had its own center. He was sure he had seen little jewelers there. They had been walking for 10 minutes when he finally found the jeweler closest to his house.
He entered the shop and saw a short old man inside. The old man looked tired and overwhelmed by the heat.
"Good morning, Uncle. My grandmother in the village passed away and I want to sell some of our leftovers. But we have no idea of their true value. Can you take a look?"
Normally a jeweler's job is to buy and sell gold and some jewelry. For such abnormal requests, they either charge or simply refuse. This is the standard for jewelers, as there will be thousands of people who will come to pick up a stone and ask if it is a valuable mineral.
Eren agreed with the man to look at the contents of the bag for a small fee. They agreed on a cheap fee of only 100 TL (Turkish Money).
The old man set aside a few pieces of gold and gave their approximate value. Eren was sure that he would already make money from the gold.
But deep down he wanted other stones to be valuable as well.
All stones turned out to be average or abundant things. But the old man's eye was always on a green stone as if he didn't want to believe it. He deliberately left this stone for last and examined it for minutes with his special tools.
"I think your grandmother was a bit of a rich woman. This emerald. And the biggest emerald I've ever seen in my shop."
"If you want to sell me the gold and this Emerald, my prices are good. You can also check the average prices online. But I will buy the emerald below its value because it is unprocessed. As you already know, gold is very expensive these days..."
While the jeweler was talking, Eren looked at the prices of emerald-embroidered rings and necklaces on the internet and tried to understand the average value. Since the gold price was already standard, he did not see the need to bargain.
But when their deal was finally over, he had to force himself not to laugh when he saw insane amounts of money like 29,000 TL in front of him.
A tiny emerald of just 19 carats (7.6 grams) wasn't very valuable. But the gold that came out of the bag had saved the day. Two-thirds of the money was obtained from gold and the rest from emeralds.
Eren tried to get a few clues by talking to the old man about different topics until he left the shop.
From what he learned, the larger the Emerald size, the more valuable it was. In fact, the world's largest emerald was exhibited that week in Istanbul, the city where he lived. It was something like a 2.5-kilogram giant Emerald. One of a kind in the whole world.
"Emily told me your village has a lot of these stones. She even said tons. Is she exaggerating or are there really tons of gold and emeralds?"
Mel turned her head to Eren as she stared at a small toy bunny in a gift shop. "Indeed, one of the oldest warehouses in the center of the village is filled to the brim with metal and stones. Most of it is seen as garbage."
Eren was excited. If he had money in the world, he could get a gun license and even buy expensive machines in the future.
Eren decided to do a little shopping before returning home from the district center. First, he went to the bank and deposited the money in his account. Then she spoke to the place that sells some homemade goods.
All the while, he was holding Mel's hand and sometimes hugging her waist. Wherever they walked, people's eyes were on Mel. Eren wanted to finish his work as soon as possible and return home.
"So it will be more expensive if I buy the tiles and cement separately."
"Yes. How much exactly do you want first?"
Eren smiled. "A lot."
For the next few minutes, he explained that he wanted to build a stone wall around a 30-decare land (village).
"Then my price is..."
In one day, Eren talked to ten building material shops. Finally got a big deal with a place that is giving good discounts.
He would buy a small amount of cement and tiles at first, then continue to buy larger quantities as the situation became clearer.
He was upset that he spent a fifth of his money selling gold on the same day. But for the safety of Emily and the elves, they had to embark on such a plan.
The village had to change somehow. If they only trusted Emily, the entire village would be destroyed in a few months at the most.
..
"Do you understand now?"
With the small shovel in his hand, Eren had rubbed a bit of liquefied slurry of cement between the two tiles and glued them together.
"After a few hours at the most, these two tiles will join together and become one piece. That will be our main job in building a wall."
In the center of the village, in an area where all the elves gathered, Eren put on a small demonstration. Seeing the excitement in the eyes of the elves, he knew that he had succeeded.
"I will continue to bring some supplies every day. You also need to build a thick and solid wall, starting from the north of the village. This will also improve the defense of our village. You can add wooden supports, large wooden spears and other things to the wall. I leave it to your imagination."
Eren spent the whole of Sunday planning how to build a wall with the Elves. While Emily was hunting in the woods, he was also trying his best.
But when evening came Emily came and she had a confused expression.
"I've finally reached Level 50!"
"What!"
Emily went to the tiny tree in the center of the village, with everyone's astonished and excited eyes.
"Is Emily going to rise to level 2?"
"Yes. Besides, her mother also achieved the 'ruthless hunter' class at this stage. Emily will soon become very powerful."
Eren learned a lot from the elves' conversations.
He learned that the girl who put her hand on the tree was connecting with a being much stronger than herself.
And after Emily's previous records and everything she'd learned along with the Evon system were reviewed, she was going to move to a higher class.
Evolutionarily, Emily would rise to be a level 2 creature. Each previous class, the "Hunter", would also evolve into a more detailed and powerful class.
She put his hand on the tree in front of everyone and closed her eyes for a few seconds. Then she withdrew her hand.
While Eren wanted to go up to her and ask what happened, Emily raised her hand to create a huge gust of wind. It didn't rise all the way up to the clouds, but it was a pretty strong cut.
"It looks like something very powerful."
Emily smiled and jumped into the air. She rose three meters and began to fall to the ground. But somehow the girl's body slowed down.
Normally she should have landed in a second, but she floated slowly through the air for about fifteen seconds.
It was as if the "wind" wouldn't let her body fall to the ground and slowed it down.
I have a class called "Daughter of the Wind". It give me tons of passive and active abilities. It's amazing! Now I am stronger and much faster than five minutes ago. And with this new glide power, I'll be able to move around the village faster."
Emily was pretty excited.
When Eren and Emily went home, the number of people who wanted to level up in the village increased. Everyone was excited at that moment.
But with the howls coming from the forest, all the excitement is gone. And instead, the smoke of war began to rise in the village.
Monsters were coming!
