The meeting room of Silver Lane Mixed High School was an organized space with three long table in the middle and enough chairs around each to sit the teachers of each year.
The room was brightly lid and had an air of authority in it. It seems that when one entered the meeting room, they are immediately compiled to pit up their best attitude.
The door open and one after the other or in groups, teachers of year one to three began to file into the room, taking in hush whispers among themselves.
Miss Lauren walked in alone, among the last to enter. She calmly moved to the table meant for the year one teachers and pulled out a chair at the end of the table, facing the white board and tv in front
The door opened again and a tall man with broad shoulders walked in. He moved with an air of arrogance around him and arrived at the year one table.
Everyone at the table looked up at him as he glared down at Miss Lauren who was sitting on 'his' seat.
Wordlessly, yet harshly, he pulled out the chair by her left and sat. Miss Lauren however, didn't give the slightest response as though she doesn't register his existence.
The man, Mr. Lin, anger rise when he saw she didn't great him like the other teachers at the table tried to. He quickly fixed his expression and leaned back on his chair, a smile plastered on his face.
"Miss Lauren, I heard of your new students. You can now teach in such a talented class" Mr. Lin said. It was obvious he was trying to provoke the female teacher by the tone of his voice "How does it feel to finally be useful in our academy"
Miss Lauren didn't have any reaction at all as she stared ahead
When Mr. Lin saw this, he lean forward and rested his hands on the table. "Miss Lauren, what strings did you pull to get the sons and daughters of influential families in your class" He leaned closer and said in a slightly hushed voice "Did you use your body?"
Miss Lauren turned to him with a calm look on her face, her eyes focused on his
"Mr. Lin," she said, voice calm yet a hint of pity could be heard in it ",...are you okay?"
Mr. Lin and every other person on the table and even the next table were taken aback by the question.
"Wh...what?" Mr. Lin asked slowly sitting up, his confusion and uncertainty clear on his face
Miss Lauren however doesn't reply and turned back to face her front, completely ignoring everyone else and their confusion.
The door opened once more and in came the year masters and the school master.
The hall immediately fall silent and the meeting commence.
**************
The house was quite as Glen used the wet white towel in his hand to slowly clean Mac's forehead. He had a far off expression on his face even as his hands worked gently to reduce the boy's fever.
He only returned to reality when small warm fingers wrap around his hand. He looked down to seen Mac had woken up.
Glenn managed a smile and put the cloth away
"You're finally awake. Does it hurt anywhere?" He asked, moving from the chair he sat on to sit on the bed.
Mac shook his head and sat up. "Have I been sleeping for long?" he asked looking around the room. "I don't remember coming home"
Glenn nod "You fainted at the school"
Mac's eyes immediately widened on hearing Glenn's words. He grabbed Glenn's hand tighter, a serious yet frightened look on his face
"That boy.." He started "The one who came with you"
"Conner" Glenn said
Mac nodded repeatedly "Can you stay away from him...huh...can you, no, you should change school, you can do that right..you can..."
"Mac" Glenn said, holding Mac's shoulders firmly and looked into his unfocused eyes "Breath. I'm fine, Conner is just my classmate"
Mac took in deep breaths as Glenn spoke
"Nothing's going to happen, okay? It was just a dream" Glen pulled his small body into a tight hug
A sob broke through and Mac's body trembled. "I don't want you to die" he said, his voice soft as he drift into the welcoming warmth of sleep.
Glenn held him for a little longer before carefully laying him back on the bed and placing the blanket carefully over him.
He looked at Mac's face. He is still so young, not even ten, yet he goes through such disturbing things as such. Glenn had mixed feelings about it.
On one hand, it was a rather helpful ability to be able to see into the future but this ability could completely break down one mentally leaving them unable to tell their dreams from reality.
It was for the this reason Glenn hated the ability and had completely cut it out of his life, ignoring whatever he sees or hears when he close his eyes.
However, Mac doesn't know how to control his ability so he was constantly being hunted by them.
Glenn sighed. He picked up the bowl and towel on the night stand. It is a good thing Miss Lauren isn't around else he wouldn't know how to explain to her.
"Does this happen often?"
Glenn jumped out, shocked to hear the familiar voice. He turned to the door and saw Miss Lauren standing there with her bag, eyes which were on Mac slowly shifted to him, waiting for his answer.
Glenn felt like hitting his head with a block of brick
'Damn it, Zero. Can't you be a little helpful?' he yelled in his mind
