Flashback - Nathan POV

"If I yell at them, it is because I know this is not natural Mr. Vandenn. I've known my daughter for 21 years, do you think I wouldn't know when she's lying to me?" she asks but Dad doesn't answer: "I don't know what's going on here, I don't know why all of a sudden this is happening but Emily, you're going to tell me right now why you're doing it. What's on your mind?" she asks.
He makes her shake like a puppy.
"Answer me!"
"I told you!" He yells back at her and we're all shocked. I didn't know where that rush of bravery had come from, but it definitely felt like a breath of fresh air: "Mother I told you, I'm doing it because I love him. Because we want to get married, period!"
My eyes go to Harry and he subtly denies it, knowing that wasn't the real reason but he was the last one to judge me. What a piece of shit we VH men were.
