"Well if I have to crawl under rocks I do, I don't want to have anything to do with him ever again in my life."
"Emily, I find out about your whole life overnight with a private investigator. Do you think it's going to make it hard to get where you are?" she notes matter-of-factly, making my chest shrink and feel intimidated: "Besides, he's been passing the money to you. You can't run off with that money."
"That money he paid me for pretending to be his girlfriend all these months. That's what I did, he has no claim on me."
And that money is no longer registered in my bank account. It had all gone straight into my father's account in Glastonbury.
"What about the car he gave you, don't you plan to give it back to him?"
"The car was left in his parking lot, the keys are in his living room. I didn't take anything that wasn't mine out of effort, I have nothing to return to him, Lana."
I defend myself but his expression doesn't change.
