"Exactly. That's why we came all the way here, we don't really know what to get him, so we wanted to take a look at his things to see what he likes and what he doesn't like. You already know that Mr. Chris is a very complicated boss" Carla continues with the talk handling the situation naturally. Without a doubt, this woman had an incredible ability to lie.
"Totally" He nods without losing his reluctant attitude towards Carla. Surely all the staff knew about the suffering Nathan had gone through thanks to her: "Should I let Ms. Elizabeth know they are here?"
"No!" I hasten to answer: "I mean it's not necessary, we don't want her to notice our ineptitude when it comes to choosing a gift so if you could keep that little secret for us it would be the glory. We won't be long."
She nods complacently: "I'll keep the secret. For you Miss Emily."
She clarifies and I hear Carla scoff under her breath.
