Emily POV
Although their words and compliments were harmonious to my ears, I could only think of one thing that kept my attention from focusing on what they were about to plasma on my skin.
"Is it going to hurt?" Hailey picks up the print on the special paper and from the look on his face, she sensed the answer.
"It's not one of the best areas to start in the world of tattoos, but it's a small one so it won't take long. You can hold Nathan's hand while I do it, it'll be like childbirth."
I laugh but Nathan doesn't.
"It's a little early to be making those kinds of jokes Hailey."
"What, you haven't thought about kids, have you?"
His oxygen gets short and he starts coughing like he just swallowed a couple of soda crackers without any liquid. I reflexively pat his back and without much thought, I voice what crosses my mind.
"Don't joke about it, eh? You can see Nathan could be having a heart attack just thinking about kids with me."
