Emily POV
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!" Nathan continues to sing at a slow, leisurely pace as he keeps C, as he calls her, cradled.
Carla slowly stops crying and starts to catch her breath until several minutes later she pulls herself together enough to accompany Nathan in his little moment. That's how they both end up on the floor, singing a nursery rhyme as one cradles the other; I, on the other hand, stand just off to the side watching the heartwarming scene in silence.
"I think it's pertinent that Carla stays home today, I don't think it's good for her to drive after an asthma attack" Nathan speaks looking up at me from the floor after the situation has normalized, his brown eyes darker than normal and his hair messier than ever.
