The silver necklace and jade bracelet were nothing noteworthy and, looked like any ordinary accessories.
Cui Len'an who had met way too many setbacks after being transmigrated could grasp the idea of the abilities of these two items.
The one affecting him by shrouding him in warmth was the jade bracelet, it had a red string attached to the jade. The wearer would undergo a body-strengthening process and it will thicken the wearer's innate body structure, this allows them to be able to withstand any force three times their weight.
It was named The Body-Strengthening bracelet.
He read Old Lao's letter as he quickly analyzed the bracelet with an amazed expression.
This item is too precious! I doubt I can find anything like this in a normal market. Where do Old Lao even find these things?
He rubbed his temples as he thought with a pensive look,
It will come in handy when I face my enemy's strength head-on, precisely physical power.
He deliberated thoughtfully and swept his glance to the other item.
The other one that affected his mind, turning his thoughts serene and tranquil was the silver necklace. The necklace was nothing out of the ordinary, it had a wool chain with a silver pendant, very common-looking.
Its main power was to make the wearer's mind be at ease, with himself and his rationality. In any case of intense mental pressure, the necklace will place the wearer's mentality in a state of tranquility. It is efficient in mental battles, resisting any power relating to the manipulation of the mind.
According to what Old Lao told me through this piece of paper, apparently, there's more than fighting sticks and stones. There's fighting mind to mind, possibly taking control of one's mind!
He couldn't help but feel his view of this world broaden.
I have assumed accurately! Our world wasn't just technology and AI, it consisted of other supernatural beings and phenomena. The main reason they aren't flashy is simply because of the level of danger it would impose on other people.
Wei Yi's consciousness in his body, couldn't help but shudder.
Both of us should've just died then none of the crazy stuff that occurred today wouldn't have taken place and we wouldn't be stuck in a desperate situation.
He lampooned inwardly and glanced over a string of lines beneath the descriptions.
'I predicted you might be traumatized after you got reborn in another body and uncovered this strange world, I specifically made preparations ahead.'
'Partially the reason you are here is due to me. Get used to it :)'
Old Lao drew a smiley face on the piece of paper, at the end of the text.
"..." His face darkened, and his features twitched slightly.
Cui Len'an quickly put all the items back into the place, some of Old Lao's letters haven't been touched yet. He decided not to waste any time and read them later when he is back at home. He kept the box close to him, exiting the room.
He looked around his surrounding, noticing the people strolling lessened than before he entered the bar. Most of them were businessmen returning home late, he didn't need to worry too much about garnering attention.
He diverted his attention to Street 7, depending on the original owner's memories to guide himself home. He walked back to the exact same street he had encountered the mysterious incident due to there being only one street that leads to the main street, that leads to his home.
Cui Len'an strolled along the side as he watched the passersby as they walked past him, they all looked exhausted and readied to be reprimanded by their wives for working overtime. Following that, he passed by the spot where the silver pickup truck was parked at.
He discovered the car was gone, leaving behind a sparse of empty land. This is highly coincidental, his eyelashes trembled immensely. He instantaneously deducted the fact that he might have been followed by someone, however, he couldn't eliminate the other possibility was it could be someone else.
Being guarded is extremely important, making deductions won't cause anyone any loss.
Then almost too sudden, his intuition struck him. Triggering him to lower his head to see another shadow behind his own, sending a shudder to his very bones.
Frick! Again!
Cui Len'an was alerted and twisted his head to find a faceless figure, standing not far from him. The figure had no face nor any detail, to determine if it was a male or a female. It was facing toward him with its head lowered.
It was a fight or flight! There was only one thought crossing his mind.
Run!
Swish!
He lifted both of his legs and dashed forward at full speed. Cui Len'an ran for more than ten minutes and looked behind him to discover nothing was chasing him. He was completely guarded and didn't dare to slow down.
This is a completely different one, not the one I faced. This one is a shadowy figure instead of mysterious eyes. I have to try to see if Old Lao's items are able to help me escape.
Swish!
It appeared a short distance away from him!
It had still retained its original state, its head lowered. And after a moment, it lifted its head and hovered forward in Len'an's direction.
Taking him by surprise and panicking, Cui Len'an felt both of his legs turn soft and he had goosebumps. He felt the will to live for the first time.
I don't want to die!
On his body, he felt rough movements next to his clothes. The box on him was moving, making a slight shake. Cui Len'an immediately took out the box and lifted the lid off.
The dagger was moving!
It emitted a dark shadowy glow as it shook tremendously as if it was scared and panicked about something.
Cui Len'an glanced at the shadow behind and immediately came up with a plan he scanned the other parts of his surrounding, tried to search for an escape exit, and also ran around holding the dagger. The shadow didn't stop its chase and continued chasing after him.
He proceeded to throw the dagger a hundred miles away from himself, trying to see if it was still chasing him or coveting the dagger.
The way the dagger reacted to the shadow indicates something! I can confirm this if I threw it far from my spot and then strike when its defenses are down! If the dagger fails to catch the shadow's attention, I can run over and retrieve it back with the enhancement of the bracelet.
The dagger fell on a nearby spot, still trembling and emitting a pitch-black glow as it struggled. The shadow stopped its chase of him and averted its attention onto the dagger.
The handle of the dagger was clenching the blade tightly due to anxiety and fear of the shadow.
Cui Len'an concluded the shadow wasn't coveting his flesh but his dagger instead. He proceeded to take out the bracelet and necklace, put them on, and carefully look for a place to strike the shadow.
The necklace and bracelet enhanced his physical strength and mental state, making him immediately calm down and a wave of strength flowed into his innate body, feeling as if he had done a thousand pushups and became a bodybuilder.
The shadow floated over to the dagger, it lowered its head and extended both of its arms to grab the dagger. The dagger struggled helplessly as it point the blade at the shadow.
Cui Len'an dashed behind the shadow and immediately gave a punch to its head, as the bracelet gave in the burst of energy to his arm.
Strike!
He strikes it, and the shadow suddenly disappeared. Cui Len'an didn't let any of his guards down and looked behind himself, to discover the shadow appear right behind him. It proceeded to race forward with both of his arms extended to grab both him and the dagger.
Cui Len'an felt calm and rational due to the influence of the necklace. He suddenly considered a possibility.
Considering the dagger has some sort of relation to the shadow, the trembling and shaking could signal a level of hatred toward that shadow.
It didn't make much sense if it were someone else in his shoes but with Cui Len'an in a desperate situation, any attempts would be alright.
If I'm dying because of this dagger. Then the both of us should die together!
He grabbed the dagger and pointed it straight toward the shadow as the shadow rushed forward to swallow the both of them. Almost instantly, the shadow disappeared like thin air.
As if it had never shown up before.
Cui Len'an breathed heavily and lowered his eyes to his hands, the dagger had calmed down and returned back to its normal state again.
Where did it go?
The dagger in his arm tightened his grip on it, matching the size of his palm, and held it, almost reassuring him everything will be okay.
This dagger felt alive! Am I hallucinating or is the characteristic of the dagger alive?
He wasn't essentially frightened, the necklace kept him from having excessive emotions and stopped him from intensifying his panic.
He noticed his necklace was glowing a bluish color whereas the dagger's pitch-black flame-like aura dissipated, and his eyes dimmed.
He turned his head to observe the passerby, they appeared to not have noticed his existence and his previous troubles. The supernatural world is oblivious to the human eyes!
No wonder there weren't any cases of these types of events appearing on the news or any websites!
