Iris's POV
We all stood in an awkward silence as we stared at each other and I took the time to take in how great Vlad and Ivana looked together.
Her in her beautiful black spaghetti strap dress and him in his blue jeans, white shirt and black blazer. They really look like the perfect couple.
I won't lie, I was jealous, really jealous and that's probably why I did what I did next.
"Oh hi Alpha, we didn't think you would show up since you have chosen to prioritize your..." I paused to give her a once over "her over your family. " I said in a sweet but sarcastic voice and I immediately regretted it cause I sounded like a jealous girlfriend.
Plus the fact that I forgot about the other people in the room who had no idea that I liked Vlad, hell, even Vlad doesn't know I like him, so I must seem like a really disrespectful bitch who hates her Luna.
But that fact didn't register in my mind as all I was feeling was burning rage at the sight of the both of them together.
"Shit Iris, I'm sorry I forgot about the dinner. " He said coming closer to me to no doubt pull me into a hug but he stopped when Ivana placed her hand on his arm to hold him back.
I was burning with fury at this on the inside but on the outside all I did was raise a brow at her action.
It was no secret to anyone that Vlad put me above everyone else in his life and I wasn't going to stand by and let some blonde midget change that.
My mom noticing my change in demeanor grabbed everyone's attention and led them back into the lounge room for drinks which left just me and Vlad at the foyer.
"I know you're upset Iris but let me explain first. " He said softly as he came to stand in front of me and cups my cheek.
How does he expect me not to fall for him when he acts like he's my boyfriend whenever we're together.
"Alright, explain it to me. " I said calmly even though I was anything but.
"I was dropping Ivana off at home and was going to come for dinner when her mom came out in a hurry saying she had to go to the hospital cause Ivana's dad had an accident so she asked me to stay with Ivana until they got back. " He explained.
"Her parents are werewolves, what type of accident did he have that required him going to the hospital and you babysitting Ivana? " I asked with my arms folded. "Was he attacked by rogues or tortured by hunters? " I know I sounded insensitive but the man was an adult werewolf, apart from these two scenarios, the only other thing that could hurt him is silver and we only keep silver in the cells for torturing rogues and traitors.
"He got cut by a silver dagger. " He replied.
"And just where did the dagger come from cause we know no one in the pack keeps silver. Your dad made the rule himself. " I questioned him and I was starting to think that our time apart has made him stupid.
"The blade was his. " He answered sheepishly.
"Then why isn't he locked up in a cell already? " He kept quiet when I asked him that and I knew exactly why without him saying it. "Ivana. So, your legacy as Alpha is that everyone in the pack gets punished for breaking the rules except for the soon to be Luna and her family? " I asked him and he had the decency to actually look ashamed.
"I didn't really see it like that. " He said realizing his mistake.
"Yeah, well, you need to start taking into account your actions because whatever you do reflects on the pack and you doing something as stupid as that is what gets alphas stripped of their position. " I wasn't even angry about him missing dinner anymore but at the fact that he did something as stupid as that for some idiot he's fucking.
Okay, maybe I'm still a little angry about dinner.
"I'm really sorry I missed dinner Iris, will you forgive me? " He asked with a cute little pout and I couldn't resist him.
"Fine. " I relented and he gave me one of his dazzling smiles that he only saves for me. "But, only if you have someone put the idiot in a cell for the weekend. " He looked slightly reluctant but he agreed nonetheless. "You're Alpha now, you have to show the pack that no one is above the law. " I said softly and his smile returned.
"What would I do without you Pixie? " He asked rhetorically and gave me a kiss on the forehead.
I was blushing so hard right now. He hadn't called me pixie in a long ass time.
Gaining my composure, I jokingly said "You'd probably get kicked out of the pack. " which led to the both of us laughing. "I missed you so much Vladdy. "
"I missed you too Pixie. " He said and pulled me in for a hug.
"But hey, you said Ivana's mom asked you to stay at home with her so why did you bring her here with you? " I was really curious on why he did that.
"Ivana said she didn't want to stay home while her dad was hurt and her mom didn't want her at the hospital so she asked if I could bring her here and I thought why not since there was a chance I would get to see you. " I hate how sweet he is sometimes. Now I can't even be mad at him for bringing her here.
"OK. Have you mind linked someone to arrest her dad yet? " I asked changing the subject to something that made me happy.
"Yeah, I just told Greg to take Hunter and go get him. " He said and I really tried to hide my smile at hearing that but I couldn't which he laughed at. "You really hate Ivana don't you? "
I stared at him in shock when he asked me that. "What makes you think that? " I said avoiding the question.
"The fact that you've acted like a bitch whenever she's involved in anything and let's not forget about the big smile you were spotting at the thought of her dad locked up. " He looked at me like he could see right through me which I doubt cause he would have known how much I love him if he could.
"I only act like a bitch cause she annoys me and the smile was because I was proud of you for making the right decision. " I told the partial truth but he didn't need to know that.
"Whatever you say. " He said with a short laugh before grabbing hold of my hand. "Come on, I'll take you home. "
"But my family's still here. " I argued even though I was jumping on the inside.
"I'm sure they won't mind me taking you home, now come on. " He said before pulling me to the door and out of his house.
I must say, today ended better than I expected.
