Synopsis

Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The once brilliant golden sun had turned blood red and the entire sky was dyed crimson, leaving no trace that it was once blue. If you listened close enough, you could hear it; the screams that continuously rang on both day and night, the anguish they contained and the immense fear that strengthened them.

As for hope, .....it had long since disappeared.

On a towering mountain that seemed to pierce through the clouds , a man stood, lost in though. He had a well defined chiseled face with short blond hair that fluttered in the wind. His profound dark eyes held a hint of confusion as well as an intense amount of guilt.

"Did I really make a wrong choice back then"

He wondered. He felt the guilt suffocating him, almost to the point where his soul was drowning in it.

He remembered that day clearly. He remembered the soldiers that had fallen. The determination in their eyes even when they died, their courage and above all their hope. Their hope that the future generations would never experienced what they had faced.

And to think he had risked all of that for some petty emotion. To think that he had....

"Hmmmm"

The man sighed softly. There was no use burdening himself with guilt. He raised both of his hands and stared at them deeply. It was with these hands he had done wrong, so he was going to use these same ones to correct his mistakes. That was what he was here for. That was why he had awakened. The world had done it's best and lost, it was now his turn.

On this day, a particular legend long forgotten by most of the people of Avalon had come true.

That should a crisis befall Avalon, the king would return.

The man turned around to look at the ancient dilapidated temple on the mountain. Back then it could be considered as a glorious beautiful landmark but now, looking at it's withered state and the numerous cracks on it, he could only imagine how many years had passed. Perhaps a hundred, two hundred or even a thousand. He could only guess.

Straightening his back, he walked with slow

unfaltering steps into the temple. The interior, though dusty and mouldy ,looked like any other temple in Avalon, completely empty except for the statues of the Lords of Order.

They had always disdained the petty adornments.

In this particular temple however, a large rock lay right at it's center with a sword halfway pierced through it. The sword contrasted clearly with the ancient temple. The light blue blade alongside it's golden hilt looked as if it had only been forged hours ago.

"Excalibur, old friend..."

The man walked to the rock and held the hilt of the sword. It felt the same as it had done years ago, comfortable and perfectly fitting.

Gently, he pulled it out.

"Our rest is over old friend, it is time for us to battle again.", he whispered.

Almost as if it had heard him, the sword vibrated in his hand and for once the man broke into a smile.

It was time for Arthur Pendragon to reemerge in the world.

Meanwhile on the outside, people were staring at the sky with astonished looks on their faces. Because they saw it , they all did.

A dazzling white comet that tore through the dark clouds.
