Chapter 8 - Life wasn't fair

In the same room which Ge-un had been previously at, the patient was sitting up while boringly glancing through his phone.

Due to his attention which was hundred percent focused on the phone before him, one couldn't quite make out how he looked.

A soft sigh escaped his lips as he dropped the phone. Almost immediately, the man dressed in black suit walked in and bowed his head when he saw his boss was awake.

"Nice to see you awake sir Ho-jin." The man in black suit addressed the man in the bed. Ho-jin looked up at his personal assistant and hummed.

Despite being in the hospital wear, Ho-jin's appearance was one that couldn't possibly be ignored cause he looked strikingly handsome.

His jet black hair was beautifully combed to the back of his head. He was the type of guy everyone in Korea swoons over and yes he is.

"I hope the media heard nothing about me being in the hospital?" His deep, yet firm voice cautiously asked while looking at his personal assistant whose head was still bowed.

"Not at all sir. We made sure you were out of the building as soon as possible."

Ho-jin relaxed a bit after getting his confirmation. "Good. Any issues I missed on?" He asked with a raised brow.

"Madam called last night sir. She asked after you but I didn't tell her you were in the hospital."

"What else did she say?" Ho-jin asked.

"She specifically told me to inform you to visit her since you refused to get yourself a woman, she would get you one. She also said you must come home next week or she would be visiting you." His personal assistant informed.

"Don't pick her calls again and make sure she doesn't come here." He gave his orders while a displeased look what starting to form on his handsome face, "I have to focus on this new movie I'm in. I don't want her coming over and turning the place upside down, choosing suitable brides for me from the cast. If she comes here Han, you'll be in great trouble and Mark my words when I say that." Ho-jin shot his personal assistant a wicked glare, making him gulp.

"Yes sir." His personal assistant bowed gently. "Your manager also called yesterday. I told her you retired early." He also informed and Ho-jin nodded gently and almost immediately, Ge-un walked in.

Ge-un looked like someone who just woke up from a deep sleep and was being forced to come check on the man before him.

"Why did you have to wake up now? I haven't had any sleep in two days." He complained.

"It's not a new thing to me. I also go that long without any sleep." Ho-jin snorted and Ge-un sneered.

"So rude. Why did you have to overstress yourself? You didn't have enough sleep as I told you. You know once your ailment kicks in, I won't be the one to carry the pain for you. Just listen to instructions being given to you, simple instructions."

Ge-un sighed once more before looking at the stubborn man before him. "Your pneumonia had gotten worse. It has lead to Hemoptysis."

"I used all the drugs completely. I don't miss a pill no matter what." Ho-jin frowned.

"I rechecked last night and it turns out someone had switched your medication. The ones I gave weren't in your system at all." Ge-un replied and Ho-jin's gaze darkened in an unreadable manner before turning his attention to Han.

"You know what to do." He said and Han bowed before walking out of the ward.

"When will you get yourself a wife?"

Ge-un suddenly questioned, earning him a deadly glare from Ho-jin. "I wonder how your son will be."

"Just shut up already Ge-un, get your girlfriend pregnant instead and stop expecting my own child." Ho-jin rolled his eyes in accordance to his visible annoyance.

"Oh Ma-ri would even kill me before I can get her pregnant at this time. I wonder why I got myself a hooligan of a girlfriend." Ge-un sighed while thinking about how love can make one do the craziest things.

"That hooligan of a girlfriend is the type that suits you even more, you can't possibly marry a quiet lady, I won't even allow it." Ho-jin mumbled, picking the handkerchief to cough in while Ge-un dramatically rolled his eyes.

In Ji-hoon's ward, Ma-ri quietly walked in with a file in her hand. It was the agreement she had drafted for Do-yun as planned.

Seo-yeon was busy feeding Ji-hoon a bowl of hot soup when her friend walked in, handing her the file to read. Ma-ri took over feeding Ji-hoon while Seo-yeon read through the paper before nodding and returning it to Ma-ri.

"Now how will we get into his house. He banned me remember." Seo-yeon reminded her friend.

"I'm going to book an appointment with him and his wife tomorrow morning. No need to worry about entry. I'm a lawyer anyways." Ma-ri replied.

"Being a lawyer means nothing stupid. He would drive you out of his building within a minute and there's nothing you can do. Just keep it cool if you want to drag a matter with him. I don't want trouble, I just want to get the money I would use to take care of our son." Seo-yeon mumbled but it was loud enough for Ma-ri to hear.

"Alright. As you wish." Ma-ri rolled her eyes. "So if he gives you part of his money what will you use it for?"

"I haven't thought about it but Ji-hoon's surgery is first." She thoughtfully replied while Ma-ri nodded in agreement

"I don't want to continue or start any business with that money so he wouldn't come telling at me that it was part of his money I used in starting a business."

"That's a valid point. You can keep the rest." Ma-ri brushed it off before picking her phone to dial a number a very familiar number.

"Good evening sir Do-yun….. who is speaking? Oh you don't really have to know that for now but yes I do know you. I wanted to bring a case to you and Mrs Lee tomorrow morning so that's why I called….. alright sir "

Seo-yeon looked at her friend questioningly till she ended her conversation while forcefully disconnecting the call like talking to him was already irritating enough.

"I called Do-yun earlier that I'll be coming over tomorrow. I didn't tell him exactly who I was though."

"Alright. I just hope all my hopes doesn't come crashing for the hundredth time." A sigh escaped her lips as she looked at Ji-hoon who was busy staring at her with interest.

"What's wrong sweetheart?"

"Nothing momma." He smiled at her and she patted his hair lovingly. She looked at the little boy who didn't deserve all this sort of pain smile sweetly at her like he was alright.

Life wasn't fair to her little boy at all and it stung her deeply.
