Chapter 65 - He's a good friend to me

"He was dying when the fire was extinguished, his body was burnt. he apologizes to you. He didn't mean to hurt you," even though Vhaken only said her name in his last breath. He knew, those were the words he wanted to say. At least he wanted to make Leigh not burdened and feel guilty. "After that he pass away, and his body turned to ash and disappeared. There's nothing left of him, I'm sorry."

Leigh would have staggered, if not for the spontaneous movement from Kendric who swiftly supported her body by wrapping his arms around her waist. Maybe she had fallen to the ground. Her body shook, sobs could be heard.

Kendric hugged her. Rubbing his hand on her back slowly. Wait patiently until her crying subsides. As he felt, Leigh was quite calm. He stretched his arms, trying to look at her face which was half covered by her hair. Her eyes were still closed and wet.

"There's nothing for you here, for now, let's go back to Yannick and recover there, ok" he said in a low voice, full of hope. Nothing could make his heart more relieved, with a gentle nod of her head.

With that he hugged Leigh again in his arms. His eyes looked at Farley. "Settle everything here," he said in a voice full of authority.

"Yes, sir," answered Farley, curtly accepting orders that were clear to him.

In the next second, Kendric and Leigh disappeared from the ruins of Leigh's house and in front of Farley.

"I sense Master here" a woman's voice came from behind the rickety door.

"You're late" Sentia furrowed her eyebrows. She almost ran as soon as she felt Kendric's presence in the area of Leigh's house. She hopes to meet and pay her respects to him. But her hopes were dashed.

"Come, finish it here," ordered Farley, who didn't want to delay any longer, because after this, he still had to face Kendric again for the same matter.

Sentia could only sigh, but that didn't break her enthusiasm to complete the task that had been ordered by her master.

-----

Kendric and Leigh appeared in his bedroom, which Leigh had been using since last night to rest. Her body tensed. He ran his hand along her back. So that her body could returns to normal. After she is calming down. He took her to the bed and sat her there.

He walked towards the table side. Reach for the teapot, pour the water into the glass. He returned to Leigh's place, crouching down in front of her. "Here, drink this"

Leigh raised her head slowly. Her eyes looked at the cup in Kendric's hand. With her hands still shaking slightly, she accepted the cup and drank slowly. When she was done, she lowered the cup and held it in her lap.

"Do you want more?" Kendric's eyes studied her movements closely. Every time he spoke, he made sure that she was not afraid.

Leigh shook her head, she wanted to answer, but she knew her voice would only get choked in her throat. So, she chose to shake her head. Besides, she didn't want to make the man in front of her now, who for some reason, she felt a little awkward since their meeting again in the dining room.

Right now, what she needs is time, alone. Trying to examine all the events that felt too difficult for her to understand and too far-fetched. Starting from Vhaken's appearance at the front door of her house last night, her friend's attitude turned violent, his eyes turned red like a vampire's, flames suddenly appeared, plus Vhaken's attack which she didn't understand, made her choke, unconscious. until she found herself waking up in this room. Desperately, she asked Kendric to allow herself to return to her home, which was thousands of kilometres away but could be reached in the blink of an eye. But all she found were ruins of her house. Plus, the news that Vhaken is no longer alive. And now she is back again in this room. All series of events, one by one appeared. Makes her chest tight. She had to take a long, slow breath so that she didn't get too deep into sadness.

Without her realizing it, her voice came from her mouth, but it was almost a mumble but not for Kendric. "He's a good friend to me," even though they've only been friends for a short time, with his friendly attitude, she considers Vhaken like her family member, a close friend and can always be relied on. Friends to talk to during the hustle and bustle of work in the office. but now he is gone. It was something she hadn't already digested.

"Yes, he is" Kendric answered, surprised by the expression. Without waiting for her reaction, he continued "I've asked Farley to prepare mourning for him. Pray that his soul will go in peace."

Hearing that, Leigh raised her head, looking at Kendric with eyes full of emotion and respect. Vhaken is just an employee at the Terrazen branch office, and they only just met at the annual event. But now, the supreme owner of the Company, arranged a mourning event for him. It touched Leigh's heart. She gave an awkward smile on her tiny lips and her cheeks were still wetly red. "Thank You"

"He deserves it" he smiled back at her. "For now, you need to rest. I will let you know when all the preparations are complete" Kendric stood up. Take the cup from her hand and put it on table side. With gentle movements he lay her on the bed.

Leigh just obeyed. Kendric covered her body with a blanket. Her eyes were closed. With a wave of his hand, some of the curtains on the window closed by themselves. Let the room not be too bright, the light that comes in is enough for her to rest peacefully.

The series of events left Leigh's body drained and feeling tired. It didn't take long for her to fall asleep. When her breathing gradually stabilized. Kendric stand up from there, walked towards the door, opened it slowly, so as not to wake her. Before he stepped out, he glanced briefly at Leigh. Making sure she sleeps comfortably. after that he stepped out and closed the door behind him.

In front of the door, there were already guards standing on both sides of the door. Without turning to face them, he said, "Guard it here, report to me if there is anything suspicious, even the slightest."

"Yes, my lord!" the guards answered simultaneously while lowering their heads. And Kendric walked away.

----

It didn't take long for Farley to find the person behind the round metal he found in the ruins of Leigh's house.

When he had finished dealing with the problems at Leigh's house with the local police. He and Sentia knew that someone was watching their movements in the distance. He and Sentia stared at each other, with a nod of his head Farley disappeared from before Sentia, only to appear again right behind the person who was watching them.

He immediately grabbed the person who was standing behind the tree and immediately disappeared from there. In the next second, the two of them appeared in a dark room, on one side were iron bars that stood firmly to lock up prisoners who would have the misfortune of being caught and locked up here.

Added to the thick smell of dried blood, causing an unpleasant odor in the nose. But that wasn't the case for Farley, who was used to going in and out of dungeons.

The noisy sound that emerged from their appearance invited the dungeon guards to immediately approach them. They found Farley clutching the prisoner. Without Farley's orders, they immediately entered the prison, grabbed the struggling prisoner, and tied him to a chair that was available there. Yes, it's a torture chair. Whoever is sitting there, prepared to accept unbearable torture, if they firmly close their mouths, the sooner they speak, the more humane their death will be.

Once the prisoner was bound and unable to free himself. He was still struggling in the chair. Groaning, with great effort to get free from the chain, unfortunately, the chain was very sturdy to keep him sitting there.

"It wouldn't surprise me if you didn't die that easily, Deacon," Farley exclaimed in a relaxed, calm voice.

"You think with one weak blow like that could kill me, seem like, you weaken over the time, getting old, is it?" Deacon scoffed, his lips in a deep sneer, a smirk on his mouth, challenging Farley's skill all along. An iron fist. The nickname given to him.

"You should have been glad, dead then, but you chose to live only to end up here, look at you now, nothing more than the lowest ranking incumbent" replied Farley standing up, leaning against the iron bars, while looking at Deacon with a deadly grin.
