Chapter 63 - Eat First

"You called Master, Wh-whose house is this?" The question came out of Leigh's trembling lips. At least she needed to know whose house she was at. If the maid in front didn't know anything about her arriving in this room. Maybe the owner of this house can answer the question.

Without waiting, Cora immediately answered "Mr Kendric".

Lightning seemed to sting her already chaotic mind, now it was even more chaotic. "Ken-Kendric?" she said in disbelief. She was at Kendric's house. Wait, is it true that she is at the Kendric's house that he knows, because it could be what Cora means is another Kendric. "You mean, Kendric Osvaldo?" she asked, wanting to be sure.

"Yes, that's right, Miss," Leigh's eyes immediately opened wide, in disbelief. Of all the houses, she ended up in the house of the man she tried so hard to forget. This is very unreasonable.

"H-how could that happen? How could he bring me here?" Leigh asked with her eyes staring intently at Cora, demanding an answer.

Before Cora could answer, there was a knock on the door. And both of them turned their heads simultaneously towards the bedroom door. A voice behind the door was heard, "Mrs. Cora, Master has left his study, he is currently heading to the dining room."

Cora's heart was beating fast, a sign that she didn't have much time. She suddenly turned to Leigh who was already looking at her. With eyes full of dismay. "Hmm, Miss, can you get ready now, because Master is waiting in the dining room for breakfast, please?" Cora hopes Leigh won't make things difficult for her. With Kendric already walking towards the dining room, it was a sign that she had neglected her duties.

"Can you take me to him?" Leigh ignored Cora's pleas. Because currently the urgent matter is Vhaken, her mind is filled with Vhaken who might need help right now.

"But…."

"Can. You. Take. Me. To. him?" Leigh repeated the question word by word, with her gritted teeth tightly, her jaw clenched.

Having no choice, Cora finally turned and walked towards the door. Opening it wide, turning around to invite Leigh to step out first. That was the extent of his master's guests. Don't dare to be rude or impolite. "This way Miss Quinn."

After Leigh, Cora followed suit, stepping out and closing the door behind her. "This way, Miss"

their footsteps sounded muffled on the marble floor. Leigh watched with her eyes wide open, unsure of what she was seeing. This house is very large and luxurious. And the feel is almost like the houses in the film, with the setting of a Royal palace. Torches lit up along the corridor they walked through. The ornaments that decorate the walls look ancient but are pleasing to the eye. As far as she knows, statues in ancient styles can only be seen in museums, but here, these statues, like they have no historical value or meaning. Standing as decoration for the pillars supporting the house.

Leigh didn't know how long she was in awe, stunning, her ocean blue eyes, wide open. She didn't realize that they had already arrived in front of two large and tall doors. Not until Cora placed her palm on her shoulder. "Miss Quinn"

She Jolted "Ah yes, sorry," she answered, embarrassed, she tried to look in another direction, so that Cora couldn't see her red face.

"We're here" finished saying that Cora turned to push the dining room door open, the sound of the door creaking softly, after that she is turning again to Leigh "Please Miss Quinn" she bowed her head slightly and invited her to come in.

Leigh, with hesitant steps, stepped inside. Followed by Cora behind her. Kendric sat with his back agianst the entrance of dining room, so Leigh couldn't see his face directly. However, her heart began to beat so fast that it felt like it wanted to jump out of her ribcage. Until they walked closer to the dining table, half a meter away from where Kendrik was sitting at the end of the long table, which could fit for two dozen people.

"My Lord, Miss Quinn wants to talk to you" Cora lowered her head, waiting for Kendric's answer.

Kendric turned towards them, his eyes immediately narrowed sharply. A cold voice came out of his sensual but masculine mouth "I thought I had given clear orders that I wanted you to help her get ready, and why is she still wearing the same clothes?" Kendric's words only sent a chill down Leigh's spine, especially Cora, who now lowered her head even deeper.

"My Lord…." Cora just called Kendric but was cut off by Leigh.

"It was me, I forced her to bring me here. "I have more urgent matters to do," Leigh exclaimed, even though her body was shaking slightly due to nervousness. But, she tried not to show it in front of Kendric, who was now looking at her, with cold and sharp eyes. It was as if just that look could make her freeze instantly.

"And what is that, I hope there is nothing more important than changing your dirty clothes" Leigh frowned, hearing Kendric's words, of course Vhaken's problem was much more important than her dirty clothes now.

"I need to go back to my house, I need to see my friend" their gaze eyes were still looking at each other. Kendric looked at her with a cold gaze, while Leigh looked expectantly. She didn't care how long it took to get to her house again, as long as she could make sure Vhaken was okay.

"And here, I thought, the important thing you wanted to talk about was important, but it wasn't" Kendric's words were cold. The atmosphere in the dining room was heavy. Even Cora, who was standing behind Leigh, didn't dare to raise her head, waiting anxiously for what would happen to her mistake.

Leigh doesn't know what made Kendric who he is today. Where was the man who always show warm and charming in front of her, during Yannick corporation's annual training, why can't he understand her current situation? Couldn't he see how anxious she was, now?

"He's in danger," replied Leigh, clenching her palms on both sides of her body, shaking.

"Who is 'He' you mean?" Kendric asked patiently. Even though he knew who she meant, he pretended not to know.

"Vha-Vhaken, my collegue friend at the Terrazen branch office. Please he is in serious danger" Leigh, this time begged.

Kendric just stared at Leigh without responding to her request. Silent fill the room until Kendric who is Still have a cold look he said, "Eat first".

Leigh's chest sank when she heard Kendric's answer. Seeing her reaction Kendric said again "You want to go now, you can't possibly go on an empty stomach, right? When you get there, you will only faint before you meet him, eat first, I promise I will take you there."

Kendric's words are true, from last night to now, a lot of things has happened. She took a deep breath. At least he still wanted to take her to Terrazen and see the situation there. She concluded.

Cora, without being given orders, immediately walked to the chair on Kendric's left side to pull it out, so Leigh could sit there. Reluctantly, Leigh sat there. Once she was sitting comfortably. Cora immediately poured water from the jug into a glass. Filling her plate with the dishes on the table. After that, she stood a few steps back, waiting in case if needed her assistant.

The two ate in silence. Kendric ate casually, occasionally glancing at Leigh, her hands moving, eating from one spoon to the next quickly. But her gaze was blank, her mind was not here, he didn't say anything, just remained silent. Leigh herself didn't pay attention to what food was on her plate, she didn't even taste the taste of the food until the two of them had finished eating.

Leigh turned to Kendric with eyes full of hope, impatient to get home at Terrazen. Her two fingers were in her lap under the table, squeezing each other. She felt her palms damp with anxious sweat, which spread across her body. This was the first time in her life, she felt anxious to such an extent.

When their eyes met, Kendric looked at her expressionlessly. "Come" Kendric finally invited her. He stood up from his chair and walked towards the dining room door. Leigh hurried stand up as well and follow a step behind him.

They continued walking, from corridor after corridor, which seemed long to Leigh, she wanted to ask where he was taking her, but she chose to wait and see. Until they arrived at a big, tall door. Kendric pushed the door open. Then step out of there. Leigh looked around, at first glance this place looked like a backyard. Why did he bring her here? Was he lying, but earlier he promised he would take her home. But…
