"I swear, if you throw one more punch at me, we are going to fight," William was scrolling through the internet to keep up with trends while a three year old child poked and punched at his back.
"He's just a cub," Lenore commented flatly, barely lifting her gaze at him before returning her attention to the never ending tome on her lap. They were in the library of the pack house throwing out plans. Two other wolves, namely, Warriors within the pack, were having a cut throat game of chess in one corner.
Lucian paced the floor in front of the fireplace, a glass of whiskey in one hand. The air was rather tense and all he could think about was the fact that they were now on The Guild's naughty list. He couldn't deny his mate either. There was a strong connection between the two that tends to pull them together no matter how far from each other they were. And speak of the devil, a loud rumbling could be heard on the stairs just outside the door, catching their attention.
"I'll go check," Lucian groaned, making a bee line for the door. Cautiously, he opened it and peered out towards the direction of the stairs. Csilla was descending rapidly, throwing herself from the top of the staircase and landing with a thud on top of a male figure sprawled on the floor, possibly a result of falling down the stairs. "What's all this?"
"I'm really getting tired of these annoying males," Csilla hissed, getting to her feet. She lowered herself only to lift the man by the collar of his jacket and shook him fiercely. "Touch me again and I will rip your heart out and suck every drop of blood out of it. I'll make sure its the last thing you see as your life fades away."
"That's...extremely dark."
"Get back in there," Lucian didn't even notice when William joined him by the door to check out the commotion.
Csilla gave him one last shake before letting him fall back to the floor. She pushed her ebony hair away from her face and huffed pass her mate and into the dimly lit library. Lucian shook his head in annoyance, closing the door after taking one last look at the unconscious member of his pack still motionless on the floor. He should be luckily she didn't kill him. Of course the unmated males in the pack were going to become creeps after taking a whiff of her scent. Even he was having problems keeping his hands by his side.
"We need a plan," William whined, throwing the three year old cub onto the nearest sofa to him. "If The Guild is after you, they are certainly going to target the members of the pack. I put everyone on high alert but still, these sons of bitches are very cunning."
William dodged a book that was flying his way from Lenore's direction. Thinking nothing of it, he simply went back to his phone. What was with this woman?
"If there is one thing I know, they like to feed on the lower ranks and climb their way up. Once the leader has no support, they all go in at once and overthrow whoever it is, wiping that entire group off the map," Csilla tapped her chin thoughtfully.
"That's just sick. Very effective, but sick. If they do it like that, then we have to do quite the opposite," the alpha commented, switching his attention from William to Csilla.
"What do you mean? Like cut off the head of the dragon rather than its tail?"
"Awkward way to say it, Will, but yes."
"And how are we going to do that exactly? There is over a hundred blood sucking termites in that house and about twenty something of us? It's already a lost battle that way....oh my god, what do you want, kid? Whose kid is this, anyways?"
"Mine," one of the warriors got up from their little game and walked over to where William was trying to keep the cub at bay. She took the child and went back to her game quietly.
"Since when did Jordan have a kid?"
"Shut up, Will," Lucian growled, lowly. "Your straying from the matter at hand."
"Right. My humblest apologies, alpha."
"I got it," Csilla got up from her chair and walked to the large wooden desk that stood alone in one corner. Switching on the lamp, she grabbed a pencil and a sheet of paper. The two men followed suit, peering over her shoulders. "There is a collapsed cave about twenty eight miles from The Guild residence. It used to be a catacomb in the eighteen hundreds but was abandoned due to the weak structures and countless grave robberies."
She drew a circle and scratched out an 'X' through it, then drew a bigger box on the end of the paper in the opposite direction, writhing the word 'Guild' inside it.
"Why am I not surprised you know such a fact?"
"Again, William, shut the fuck up...ouch." Lucian rubbed the back of his head, taking a short glance in his mother's general direction. She was still reading her book as if she didn't just throw a dictionary at his head.
"Please, pay attention," the young actress hissed at the two without even looking away from her paper. "Anyways, this leads to the very bottom of the house where they had built rooms to accommodate their disgusting lifestyle. More often than not, there would usually be two to three guards down there by that door. But I can't go in from there. My scent is very well known within those walls so I'd have to find a way to get them out, preferably at night because sunlight is not a vampires best friend."
"Why don't we just bomb the house, or just invite them to a nightly duel?"
The two stars stared at William in disbelief. He could not be serious. That house was in a neighborhood filled with human beings.
"You watch way too many movies."
