Ria was too anxious to just watch Cavi fight with many men. But what can she do? It's not like she can fight men with swords.
Unlike the men, Cavi was obviously more skilled in fighting. But there were just too many of them. And he was already tiring. As she watched them not too far in case they would need to run again together, she noticed a man charging towards him.
"At your back!" she yelled to inform him.
He was about to face it but then, three more men attacked him in front, leaving his back unprotected.
It was a moment Ria couldn't think of anything anymore but to save him. running towards him, she used her tiny body to block him from the incoming blade. It was only when she knew it was seconds before the blade sink deep inside her skin that she remembered fearing for the pain. thus, she closed her eyes firmly; teeth gritted.
"Stupid." It was an angry tone but filled with pain. As Ria opened her eyes, she was stunned to see Cavi in front of her. Blood was spilling from his lips.
"W-what…" she nearly cried as she attempted to wipe those blood from his lips that she knew she caused. He just received the blade for her. and how did he even manage to defeat those men he was fighting and block the sword for her?
Cavi pulled her again into a run. This time, he was falling behind because of the wound on his back.
Ria couldn't help but wonder. "Why did he save me? I thought he didn't care about me? but if he really was, then, he shouldn't have asked her to run away with him."
She wanted to cry that moment as she watched the pool of blood slowly stain the white fabric of Cavi's clothes. But she knew, she'll burden him more if she does that.
They were breathless and weary when they came into a stop. It was a dead end. They couldn't runaway anymore.
"Just give up, Your majesty. you can't run away anymore," one of the men in masked and black clothing said, gripping at his sword tightly.
Cavi pulled Ria on his back. "Who ordered you?" he asked in a still firm and authoritative voice. he was indeed a king that he didn't even waver even though it was obvious that they had no way out anymore.
Ria looked behind them and trembled at the deep cliff. Below were the raging waves of the Western Sea.
"Nobody ordered us, your majesty. It's just that we are already tired of your ruthless reign. So, we are here to serve justice to the people and end your life!"
"Guys, kill him now!"
Ria looked at Cavi's expression but she just couldn't figure out his thoughts. The men were already coming to kill them. But why wasn't he even moving.
"No. I need to think of something," she thought and her eyes again wandered towards the cliff and water below. She firmly closed her eyes with the thought that was already in her mind the moment they were cornered here.
"Cavi," she called, making him glance at her.
"What?" he answered in a shaky and cold tone. It made her worry even more when she saw the paleness of his face and violet lips. was he….
"Do you trust me?"
Cavi almost scoffed but he felt the weakness and pain surging in his body. "I trust no one else."
Ria smiled at his reply and wrapped her arms around him by his back. Cavi was too stunned by her impudence and rare actions for a lady of her age. He didn't even got time to guess her plan was.
"Then," Ria whispered in his ear, still with a little smile of nervousness. "This time, you need to trust me."
"What do you-"
It's too late. It's what Cavi thought when he realized what her silly plan was.
He was falling into the cliff, with her hugging him behind. Even in the air, he noticed how she tightened her grip on him. she's obviously scared. Yet, why would she even jump and even pull him with her?
Opening her eyes as she felt Cavi removing her arms around him, her watery eyes were met by an electric blue eye which seemed like the waters where they'll fall into in any seconds from now.
Ria grabbed him even tighter with his attempt to detach from her. yet, his eyes were just melting her. this gave Cavi a chance to switch their position. And now, he's the one who's protectively wrapping his arms around her.
It made Ria gasp for breath.
"Are you scared?" his cold voice asked.
She nodded like a little girl, making him pressed his lips in a thin line.
"Then stop pulling me in just any silly plans you're thinking. Really. You're such a stupid woman."
"But if I didn't pull you into a run or in this cliff, we might lose both our heads."
Cavi could only shake his head. This woman wasn't even aware that his chance of survival won't be as worst as this if she wasn't present.
"Hold on tight," he ordered, as he also wrapped his arms around her more.
"W-why?" her voice was small.
But before she could receive an answer, their positions switched; with Cavi below her. was he planning to use hi body to protect her from the waves again this time?
As Ria panicked, they were enveloped by the ruthless waves of the sea. With the freezing cold entering her body again, she couldn't help but wonder.
'Just what is my affiliation with this sea that I kept falling here again and again?'
Ria closed her eyes.
"It's cold…"
