In other words, the official competition would take place on the 26th.
For some martial arts schools that might be rushing due to tight schedules, it would be acceptable to miss the opening ceremony as long as they arrive on the second day.
Of course, most reputable schools would want to save face for "Evil Eye Fist" by arriving before the afternoon of the 25th. After all, they would have to settle into their accommodations at the guild hall.
