Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: No.4 Apocalypse - GAMERS

Shachiku Club Administrator Private Group.

This is a small chatroom with only four members.

[White_horse] is the group master, with another three Shachiku————Kinky administrators in other words: [Upbed_ten_times_a_night], [Eighth_level_hurricane], and [See_you_tomorrow].

[Nighten]: "Ya all received helmets???"

[White]: "Yes, but...kind of strange this stuff, which was just left in front of my door."

[Tomorrow]: "I found it by my garage door..."

[Hurricane]: "Mine was on my working desk...I thought my colleague brought it."

[Nighten]: "Ya all less strange than mine, that this package was just delivered to my dorm room! My other three roommates were all there, and no one saw how the hell this one got its way in! I don't know if you discover the strangest part, if you wear the helmet, only you can see a countdown, but others can't see anything."

It is a strange silence in the chatroom.

[White]: "You said so...It indeed is a bit strange."

[Tomorrow]: "What are your opinions? Which game developers can be all-known like this, that it knows our addresses while delivering the packages to us without being found by anyone?"

[Hurricane]: "Emm, this concerns me the most. It's reasonable to explain the addresses. It is theoretically possible if it just analyzed our locations in reality with the IP address we clicked on the link. But when it came to logistics...I couldn't figure it out. I'm living in Gold Hill, while [Nighten] by my memory is studying in River City, which is about 500 kilos apart from each other, but we almost found the helmet at exactly the same moment."

[Nighten]: "Correct...And it's only after a short time after clicking the link."

[White]: "Shxt, shall we call the police?"

[Tomorrow]: "We don't have financial losses, it's hard to explain to the police, and how do you explain? Wrong delivery? Problematic helmet? Except wearing it yourself, nobody can see anything?"

[Hurricane]: "Yes, this is the major question, it's hard to explain clearly to others what exactly this thing is. I also tried to put my cellphone inside, obviously, I could see stuff with my eyes, but my cellphone could not capture anything."

[Hurricane] is a teacher, in reality, teaching science, so he usually speaks reasonably, both [Tomorrow] and [White] agree with his words.

[Nighten]: "How about...let's take it apart and see?"

[Hurricane]: "It's doable but risky. At least I didn't find where we can dismantle it, if using violence, it's hard to ensure we can put it back after."

[Tomorrow]: "Indeed, we can't backstab [Light]-Kun."

The ability to leave the helmet at his garage door without being noticed by anybody makes him start to believe [Light]'s words.

Maybe his company is some kind of official supernatural research facility funded by the government?

No matter what, at least for now, they did not suffer any loss. Furthermore, he is also kind of interested in full-immersion VR games.

That countdown has successfully captured his interest.

[Hurricane]: "I messaged [Light] in private chat, but no reply yet. That official website does not seem to be a territorial website, not even like a normal site, no registration info found."

[Nighten]: "A dark web!?"

[Hurricane]: "Not clear."

[White]: "Just let it be, it's meaningless to discuss more. After all, after three days, we can confirm the actual situation about this helmet ourselves!"

...

When gamers are having a discussion, in the wasteland, Light Chu is still busy making the final preparation.

5 kilos of green barley and some steel tools.

It took a lot of his efforts to transfer these resources without being noticed, from Bette Street to the Wetland park 3 kilometres away.

Sanctuary 404 is located right below this park, its entrance is in an unremarkable asylum.

Here it has lush vegetation, also is next to a lake, there should be some active wild animals around.

Light Chu became extremely careful when approaching here, constantly staying alert to potential dangers nearby.

Fortunately, no accidents happened.

Checked his mark left at the asylum gate, after confirming there were no mutants or marauders sneaking inside when he left, Light Chu uses his sharpened water pipe to open the door, and walks in carefully.

The entrance to Sanctuary 404 is the elevator located at the innermost of the asylum lobby, and only the dial plate of that elevator has a B1 option.

Light Chu goes down first to leave the rations in the doorway between the elevator bottom and the outer airlock of the buffer chamber.

It's an empty space, about forty to fifty metres below the surface.

TBH, it's not a good place to store food, but is always better than leaving it at the asylum, being targeted by mutant rats or roaches.

Through the two airlocks of the buffer chamber.

Entering the lobby, Light Chu said to Qi at the corner.

"Have you uploaded the forum yet?"

"Already done."

"How about gamers? Have they received the helmets yet?"

"Already received."

That fast?

Light Chu is a little surprised.

He remembers that he left the sanctuary at 6:00 AM, but now the time is around 1:00 PM, which is only about 7 hours in between.

"Does the Wasteland time and the Earth time really flow at a 1:1 ratio?"

"It is, but here, the time is equivalent to West 4 Time Zone on earth."

The time difference between East 8 and West 4 Time Zone is about 12 hours, which means the time in the east part of China is about 1:00 AM right now.

Light Chu sits at the laptop desk, logging in to the backstage of the official site.

Qi has added the Forum function, but with no trending, currently, there is not a single post.

The same is databank and wiki.

"How should I upload my photos?" Light Chu points at the Library and says.

"Just upload it directly."

"...What I mean is, how to take photos? Or do you have some kind of camera?"

Such a huge sanctuary, it's ridiculous that the entire B1 level does not have any usable tools.

Not saying about weapons, but shouldn't it have at least some basic survival tools?

"Emm, probably no handheld cameras, but my built-in camera can help you take photos...Which type of photo do you like to take? At here?"

Seeing the waste bin-like robot at the corner, Light Chu sighs and says.

"Why would I take a photo here...Forget it, let me think."

He can't just capture a mutant and bring it here.

However, it is considerable of taking Qi outside.

Most mutants have no interest in a piece of inedible steel chunk, just with a little camouflage and it can be a "ward" on the roof, effectively watching over your entire property!

Light Chu believes this plan is definitely workable.

Log in to his penguin account.

Light Chu finds that all four gamers have sent him a private message, asking which company exactly he is working at, what he actually means about the full-immersion game, and what the hell is going on with their gaming helmet.

TBH, Light Chu does not know how to answer these questions, and of course, he must not tell them the truth about this world.

Only to let them believe this is a game world.

So that, they can come to this world as the No.4 Apocalypse, fearless and restless, becoming his strongest weapons and tools.

"Master."

"What?"

Qi asks curiously, seeing Light Chu shut down the laptop and stand up.

"Is okay not replying?"

"Not necessary."

Explanations will develop flaws, fooling them with CONFIDENTIAL is much better.

As for others?

Just let them guess.

They grow a brain for imagining and thinking.
