"If more people cared about the common soldier," you mutter, "we wouldn't be here at all."
Tethong shakes his head, clearly unconvinced.
"Major," he says to a rebel soldier behind you, "send word to the soldiers: let the Terrans proceed, but be ready to strike if there's any sign of violence or trickery."
"Yes, sir."
As he departs, another rebel officer appears.
"General," she says, "one of their platoons is approaching a Centauri ambush."
Tethong and De Silva both rise, and you step out of their way as they head for the door.
"It's time to find out what your Terran masters really intend," Tethong says.
