"I had sent her away after I realized just how much you didn't like her." He admitted, looking like a little boy who was confessing to something he had done wrong.
"Do you trust her with your life?" Daphne confirmed.
He closed his eyes. "Yes."
That sealed the conclusion.
"Are you mad?" His eyebrows once again knit together, and Daphne reached out to smooth them.
"If you have grown up with her and trust her, who am I to tell you otherwise?"
His gaze softened.
"Thank you."
"It's not like she's your first love, is she?" Seeing the puppy-like expression on his face, Daphne couldn't resist the urge to tease him. But behind the teasing, she had to admit that she cared about the answer to this question.
He sharply shook his head, wincing as the headache struck again. "No!"
A smile lit up Daphne's face. She didn't know why his hard refusal made her smile so much. But she was glad that it did.
