When he said those words, the expression on his face was nearly ethereal, as if he was basking in some gentle dream.
"I can feel your existence right now, Daphne. I know that you and I both don't know who I am, but I just wanted to say thank you for accompanying me all those times in the darkness. For a while, you were all that I had."
The boy in the portrait suddenly looked much too clean for this world, not a flicker of annoyance nor frustration from all of Daphne's questionings.
Instead, his lips parted to reveal two rows of pearly white teeth, a smile sweeter than honey itself but as refreshing as a spring wind.
Daphne felt almost guilty for wanting to ask him another question. But ultimately, the words still left her mouth.
"Does another man come here to visit sometime?"
