Prologue
Year 2018, December 31st Mid night.
The Oddly shaped flying object was circling around the Rajasthan deserts. It was as if they wanted to land. The UFO was trying to land in Khuldhara. Khuldhara was an abandoned village in the northwestern part of India, in the state of Rajasthan. The village was nearer to a city called Jaisalmer. Basically, it was a tourist part. They come from all over the world. The entire village was abandoned by thousands of people centuries ago. Why they abandoned their homes? What happened to those people? Where did they go? All these are answered my myths and stories.
Some said there was a secret attack from the enemies of ancient days because of 2 breath takingly beautiful girls. The villagers could not fight back the enemy. For protecting the honor of ladies, they performed Jauhar. It was a cruel custom prevailed in those part of India till 19th century. Jauhar was done as the last resort. When a battle is fought, when the people knew they could not win the battle, all men without fear went to face the enemies and vow never to return. Then the ladies performed Jauhar. A very big fire was created using large quantities of firewood. Huge quantities of ghee and oil are used to make the fire ablaze. Then all women in the fort or village entered the fire never to see back. Many people had died in that way in Rajasthan. So may it be a popular choice.
Some other said, a bad demon from the bottom of the earth visited the village and swallowed every single human living there. There was no proof for any of these myths. But people were always afraid to enter Khuldhara at evening times. Only an unfortunate night watchman was stationed at the entrance. He too would remain in his cabin and dared not to venture out. The next morning, he had so many things to say to his reliever. His name was Kashi.
Kashi heard the noise. He was shivering. Closing his eyes, he prayed and prayed. But the noise seemed to come nearer and nearer. With a thudding heart he peeped through the window. He saw, a few white things descended from a peculiarly shaped box. His palms and face became sweaty. He was breathing heavily. What on earth those things could be? Was the myth true about the demon? Were these beastly creatures were going to devour him? The thought his family came to his mind. What would happen to my wife and my son? Who would take care of them?
The white things were going towards the center part of the village. Totally there were 6 of such figures. One was in the lead. That was carrying a sort of circular object in his hands. Overall, they were all looking like a sort of human beings except that they looked like they were floating. Kashi was reminded of the story his son showed to him on you tube. They were all looking like Casper the friendly ghost. Could they all possibly be ghosts? He thought. He was not prepared to verify.
The lead ghost shouted something at the following ghosts. Then they all rushed towards a house and went inside. Now nothing was in sight. Kashi knew it was the time for his to flee. If those ghosts come out, he would be their dinner. With cat like steps, he opened the door of the cabin. It creaked lightly. He cursed himself for not applying oil. One small ghost just peeped from the house and went back inside. Gathering the courage, he came out of the cabin. He saw a square big box like object shining in the moon light. It was placed nearer to the entrance. Something silvery was coming out of that object. It smelled nicely. Kashi did not stop to think. He ran like a hare. He heard some cries and screams behind. But never stopped to investigate.
