Everyone congratulated him and Rose as the midwife passed the baby to the mother. The girl stopped crying after her mother held her.
Jake stared at the mother and daughter. He had seen this scene many times in movies and in pictures. But seeing it in person was something else.
''She's heavy!'' Rose delightfully exclaimed.
To be honest, she was worried that the baby might be born deformed so early. After all, the childbirth had happened in half the normal time. However, nothing dangerous happened.
Her daughter was born healthy. Rose fondly looked at the baby cradled within her arms. Feeling the heartbeat and light breathing of the little one, her eyes moistened. She couldn't wait to breastfeed her child.
Jake glanced at his daughter and leaned on his chair, taking a deep breath. His body felt heavy for some reason. Especially the shoulders. Only a man who has heard his child's cry could feel what he was feeling.
