Chapter 30 - Kiss

As soon as Diana left, Anna poured some vinegar on a clean white cloth then turned to Reign.

"I think I should clean your wounds now before they get irritated"

"Actually, I would like to clean her wounds," Ares said as he walked towards them. They all turned to him with wide eyes except Julian.

"But your highness, you both aren't married yet. I don't think it's appropriate" Anna pointed out.

"Reign and I need to talk" He uttered without breaking eye contact with Reign.

"Don't worry Anna, Ares will do it" Anna nodded then slowly stood up from the bed before following Jess and Julian as they left the room.

"Are we really just going to leave them alone?" Anna muttered worriedly. Jess rolled her eyes as she slapped Anna's arm.

"Ow! Why did you do that?"

"Stop behaving like Reign's mother for once, okay? He's going to be her husband so they can do whatever they want. After all, they are both adults" Anna frowned as Jess wiggled her eyebrows at her. Both their eyes widened as Julian chuckled behind them. They had totally forgotten he was with them.

He winked as he walked past them which made Jess' feel like her legs were turning into jelly.

"Did you see that? He winked at me!" Jess squealed as she jumped up and down. Anna turned to Jess with furrowed eyebrows.

"You have a crush on him, he's way out of your league" Jess rolled her eyes.

"So was Reign, she used to be way out of the Prince's league but look at her one, Fondling with him. That might be me and Julian one day" Anna smiled at her.

"Sure whatever you say"

Ares walked up to the bed and sat beside Reign.

"I'll just clean the wound on your back. Hope you won't mind me touching you?" The way he said that made Reign gulp. Her body was reacting to him again.

"No… no I don't" Ares nodded then untied her gown.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you I wasn't Isabella. I just…. I was just scared and…"

"It's okay. I knew you weren't Isabella but I just wanted you to tell me yourself" Reign's eyes widened.

"You knew? How?"

"Well first of all, no lady I know from a noble family will go to the market dressed the way you were then with the way you acted, you just didn't seem like Isabella. I had seen her once when we were younger and her behavior was rude and when I saw your "Cousin" That say, I immediately knew she was the Real Isabella and you were Reign" Reign grimaced as she turned around to face him.

"I was scared you were angry at me and wouldn't want to see me anymore. I'm glad you aren't mad" Ares smiled.

"Turn around so I can clean your wound" Reign took a deep breath.

"Now that…. Now that I'm not your real Betrothed, what's going to happen to us? Are you going to marry Isabella instead?" Ares scoffed.

"There's no way I'm marrying Isabella and nothing is going to happen to us, you're still my betrothed and we'll be getting married soon" Reign furrowed her eyebrows.

"But you have already finalized the papers saying Isabella is your betrothed" Ares smirked.

"I guess they didn't read the papers thoroughly. I might have added a few lines to the papers" Reign's eyes widened.

"What did you write?"

"That if the Isabella I was with happened to be a fake, I could call off the wedding" Reign heaved a sigh of relief.

"That's good to hear," Ares smiled.

"Do you want to marry me that badly? Reign, I thought you said you weren't in love with me?" She gasped.

"I'm not in love with you" He grinned.

"Then why is your face all red?" Reign placed her palm on her face as if that would magically make the redness disappear.

"Still, that doesn't mean I'm in…." Ares crashed his lips on hers. Reign was taken aback by his actions and had no idea how to react so he grabbed the back of her neck and pressed her lips on his.

"Kiss me back" He murmured and she did. The feeling she had when kissing him was a feeling she wished to experience everyday. She closed her eyes as she enjoyed the moment of their tongue dancing to a similar rhythm. She felt no pain anymore, she was in total bliss.

After some seconds, he pulled away from her and placed his forehead on hers.

"Can I sleep next to you tonight?" Reign didn't even think about it before nodding.

Ares then proceeded to clean her wounds and he had to stop himself from screaming out in anger when he saw how badly bruised her back was and he found some other marks that seemed to have been inflicted on her some time ago because they were slowly fading. This instantly made him frown but he refrained from asking her too many questions at least for tonight.

"Ow!" Reign muttered as she clenched onto the bedsheets. Ares reached out to hold her hand as he blew on her wounds.

"I'm almost done, okay?" Reign nodded then heaved a sigh of relief after he announced he was done.

Reign climbed into bed while Ares went over to his room to have a bath. She was too tired to have a bath so she decided to sleep like that.

By the time Ares came back, Reign had already fallen asleep due to exhaustion. He smiled as he got into bed then he wrapped his arm around her and gently pulled her closer to him.

Her presence gave him a feeling of contentment and peace and he had no explanation why. When he was with her, he could easily fall asleep and not wake up in the middle of the night because of a nightmare. She drove his demons away with her light. Was he in love with her? He didn't know but all he knew was that he was never letting her leave his side.

Diana glared at the King as soon as he walked into her chambers.

"I don't want to speak to you neither do I want to see you so leave" She told him which made the King sigh.

"I just wanted Ares to not be disappointed in me again, please understand" She scoffed.

"So it was better to humiliate me? Leave already" The King walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her.

"I'm sorry, I won't do it again" Diana sighed.

"I guess I can understand you, I was harsh on the poor girl" The king smiled then sat beside her.

"But I don't think she's good to be Ares' wife, my love" Diana murmured. The King furrowed his eyebrows as he stared at her.

"What do you mean?" Diana sighed.

"She didn't go to school so how on earth is she going to help Ares when he needs the support? Plus, she's just a maid. She might taint his name" The King frowned.

"I don't know about this, I don't want Ares to be mad at me again and he seems to want her" Diana placed her hand on his shoulders.

"It doesn't matter what he wants, it's what's best for him that counts and as his father, his well being is your major priority. There's a very good wealthy family I know that would love their daughter to be betrothed to him. I've met her before and she has class and elegance. She's also as beautiful as a white lotus, he's sure to fall in love with her when he sees her, trust me" She gave him a reassuring smile.

The King thought over it for a while then sighed.

"I guess you're right, I'll send out a letter tomorrow asking for their daughter's hand in marriage" Diana shook her head.

"There's no need for a letter, they are already in our Kingdom for a visit" The King's eyes widened slightly.

"Oh if that's the case then I'll invite them to the castle tomorrow morning" She smirked.....
