The ride back home was awfully silent. Lucas was back to his cold self, not mentioning a word. Both Dionne and Sandy found it awkward and hence, kept to themselves as well.
No one talked about what happened at aunty Linda's house, or how Lucas was smiling freely like he was possessed by a smiling spirit.
Dionne held herself from ruining the silence, but she just couldn't help it. Her mouth was itching to part and release words - whatever word, she just wanted to break the silence.
"Andrew seems to like you, Sandy," Dionne breathed in relief when she heard a sound - the sound of her voice.
Sandy, who sat at the back tried to hold her smile, but she failed miserably. "I don't think so, I just think he was trying to be nice," Sandy said humbly.
"Don't try to act ignorant, I'm sure you felt it too, he was all over you, asking what you wanted and even feeding you." Dionne rolled her eyes at Sandy's ignorance.
