Chapter 14 - Family Reunion | 10 |

17 years later

Walking through a forest that was identical in ever direction, in a single file line, wasn't how I expected my lovely Tuesday to go.

But since when does something go according to plan?

My plan at least

"Carson, secure the left, Cleo can handle right, and I'll charge in" Yoon commanded, his arm out stretched in each direction he appointed; a smile marking his every word as of he wasn't talking about a potential war.

Sprinting to the far left to cover as much area as possible; four fellows marking my every move.

The decade or two I've been with the Dallas, we've formated a coven of our own.

Even though a lead was never officially appointed, we follow every command Yoon gives like a bunch of lost dogs.

Dogs

There is a good amount of us, all here in this very forest. Why?

Well, let me summarize:

Vampires weren't new to the area, but suppose they weren't the only abnormal creature marking territory.

Only a few hundred acres of land over, the was another coven; of witches.

An innocent witches was at the wrong place at the right time, and got milked for everything they got. Inside, anyway.

The clueless vampire whom had done the said "milking", went into an uncontrollable and unstoppable frenzy, before dropping dead on our door step.

Of course, he wasn't one of our vampires; yet.

What could have been is unfortunate, but that doesn't remove the Who is at fault.

Receiving a few more hand gestures from Yoon, we all move forward. Finding our way out this mind beating dry forest and revealing ourselves.

That's when I see her

Her

My-

"Mia" I just barely whisper sweetly for my own ears, just the sound of it twisting my insides.

Of course there were slight changes,

Her frame had widened and curved with maturity.

Her hair seemed clearer; neater. Pushed up in a large clip so her ends were poking up at the top like a carrot sprout.

But, her eyes remained the same piercing bright amber I had dived into; and never resurfaced from.

There was something about they way she stood behind a girl whose height surpassed her own, just barely.

The girl's hair was like a wisp a fire in the wind.

Her limbs were on the lengthy side; her arms almost twice that of her torso.

Freckles dotted every crevice of her pale skin,

And her eyes.

They were like a liquidity emerald, a thin strip of brown circles around their edges.

As quickly as the outside world had blurred, it began to move again.

A dark-complected man with stubs of hair cut almost all the way to his skull, wearing a basic outfit of a light gray V neck and distressed jeans stepped up.

"So, the blood sucker have finally decided to show up"

Yoon mimicked his posture; hands looped together near his middle, "Or had to make sure you keep your part of this meeting"

A chuckle left his mouth before taking a few steps forward, a watchful look on his face as Yoon did the same.

No words were said from neither party as the two men out stretched arms; only sound being heard were quick not evenly spaced breaths.

A purple band began to tie these two together; the band intertwining and constantly moving between the two.

Moments past as the band sparked with each loop; both men seemingly painless as tears and grunts escaped.

Then it all stop.

Every head turning down as the otherworldly string disintegrated into nothing but dark black ash.

A faded pink mark was left on both parties as each took their need steps back.

Yoon spoke first, giving a formal deep bow as he stated, "We hope to have resolved our pervious and future issues"

The other male gave a short laugh, somewhere between fear and amusement "Yeah, me too" as he deeply inspected his scared hand.

I turn my head over with a goofy grin painting my face in anticipation, only to be met with disappointment.

Mia had left, disappeared along with the other young girl.

I was faced with the backs of the other coven heading back, and strung with them was a light gray wolf with white spots sprinkled all over and a crow perched on top of its dome whose features glistened rainbow in the shining sun.

Nothing ever quite ends
