Ryder opened the door of the room in which Lassie was being treated. By her side, he could see Friel packing somethings up from a table. With her moving to the room's exit, he had to assume she had completed the treatment. Upon noticing Ryder, she bowed her head showing her respects.
"Is she going to be okay?"
"I have done everything I can my Lord, the rest is up to her," Friel answered before leaving.
Walking up to Lassie's side, he could not help but feel a sense of guilty run through him. However, he also knew nothing could be done about it at the moment. What made him wonder the most about everything that had transpired, was how he had even realized something was going on through some gut feeling. If he had to be honest, he believed the event that had happened only brought a lot of questions to his mind.
'Does that mean, gut feelings that usually happened in movies were actually real?'
This thought caused Ryder to exhale lightly before sitting down on a chair nearby. He would then proceed to silently watch Lassie, who was still sleeping on bed.
Vienna who had gone into town sometime ago, arrived from her trip, a trip that did not take too long. With the manner in which rumors had spread, it was no surprise to her that what circulated around had some difference to what actually happened. This only resulted in her staying an extra amount of time trying to find out what really happened.
Of course Vienna could not come out in public and do all of this, so she appointed a whole bunch of servants to do so for her. In doing so, she obviously learnt of what had happened and also learnt of some disturbing news.
Brenna upon noticing her arrival, wasted no time in approaching her to find out what she had found. From Vienna's calm expression though, it didn't seem like much had happened. That turned to the opposite pretty fast though.
"So, what did you find out?"
"Apparently Lassie was attacked by Lynn Advans earlier, with Ryder arriving in the scene later on. According to what they stated, he did some weird stuff before disappearing into thin air. Later on though, he appeared out of nowhere with Lassie in his hands and the body of Lynn Advans. If I am right, this is what really happened," Vienna explained.
"Lynn Advans? Disappeared? How do you think that happened?"
"I have two thoughts in mind, either it was some kind of spell or an assassination was attempted on Lassie's life in a pocket orb."
"That's bad news.." Brenna stated as she held her chin.
"Well that's the least of it. Apparently majority of the low breeds believe Lynn Advans is the victim in this whole situation."
"I guess that is to be expected after Ryder's match against Dalt Advans in the academy."
"Sadly, I have even worse news. The academy is planning on making an announcement about what had happened on the World screen."
Upon hearing this, Brenna's expression changed slightly. In this world, things that were announced on the 'World screen' were usually a big deal. This only told her that something was about to happen on a grand scale, and Ryder would most likely be in the center of it.
"What about Master Ryder?" Vienna could not hide her curiosity.
"He is in the other room checking on Lassie.."
"Okay. I will tell him about everything that has developed so far."
After this, Vienna walked off leaving Brenna to herself. While she walked away, Brenna could not help but fix her eyes on her like glue.
Hearing a knock on the door, Ryder gave permission for Vienna to enter the room he was currently in. As she had stated previously, she gave Ryder the break down on what developed so far. This news caused Ryder to grit his teeth and tighten his fist. Vienna who was witnessing this believed this was the highest amount of emotion he had ever displayed; however, she couldn't tell why.
'World screen? Damn it! It's like it's one thing after another," he thought to himself.
"I suspect their announcement should be any minute from now," Vienna said with a slightly wary expression.
Getting up to his feet, Ryder moved around the room waiting for the announcement to come. Few minutes later, Brenna would enter the room before a flash of light erupted in front of their retinas out of nowhere. In front of their eyes was a screen similar to that of an advanced projection screen. Ryder didn't really feel off about the whole thing since he had witnessed something similar with his system. The same could not be said for his fiancees as they flinched slightly.
In front of their eyes was a display of Lorde of the Academy. Seeing him alone was bad news to Ryder's eyes.
"I am sure majority of you are aware of what had transpired sometime in the day. Master Ryder's fiancee, Lassie, was attacked by a low breed. I will not go into the details of the attack and the low breed response; however, I am inclined to announce that drastic measures will be taken to ensure something like this will never happen again. We cannot have a world without order. If it means we have to break the very framework of the world in order to achieve it, we will gladly do so."
Just then the transmission ended, leaving Ryder with the thought of what was about to come. The fact that something like this could be achieved with magic shook him to his very core. Though he didn't think about it so much as what was stated on the World screen screamed nothing but bad news.
"Hmm, the academy wants to use the situation that occurred today as an opportunity to subdue the low breeds even more. I am not surprised by this since it is the perfect excuse for doing something drastic. All in all, the low breeds are going to suffer for what occurred today, not that it matters to us," Brenna stated with an expression of indifference.
Ryder on the other hand felt nothing but the opposite inside as he believed that he was some what responsible for what was about to happen.
"What? How...how did that happen?" A weakened voice could be heard.
Ryder in surprise widened his eyes the moment he realized Lassie had woken up. Though if he had to be honest, it happened at the worst of times. From her facial expression at the moment, she had heard the announcement from the World screen as well.
