Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Emerald's New Home

Emerald cannot believe her fate. She had grown a mermaid's tail where her human legs used to be and she found out that she can breathe under water and swim endlessly. She realized that the sea has become her new home as a mermaid and that she cannot go back to her parents anymore. She felt extremely sad so she bitterly cried and as her tears mixed with sea water, they would form into pearls of various colors, shapes, and sizes. It was an amazing sight to look at as the clear tears would change to salmon, violet-black, white, or yellow.

Then a voice was heard. It was Poseidon, the god of sea and all waters. He spoke while Emerald was crying, "Stop crying, my child. This is your home and you can play with all the fishes. No one will harm you."

She tried to control her sobs and simply said, " But I miss my ma and pa..."

Poseidon said, "Just say 'boomshikalaka' thrice to your sister fish and she will release a large bubble that will show the images of what your parents are doing."

Emerald looked for her sister fish and said "Boomshikalaka, boomshikalaka, boomshikalaka!" and the sister fish released a large bubble showing her parents crying and looking for her.

Emerald became happy seeing her parents but she was also sad because they cannot see her and they were crying so she called out to Poseidon again. "Poseidon, I have seen my parents already and I thank you, but I badly miss them. How and when can we be together?"

However, Poseidon said, "One wish at a time, my dear. You have already seen them, but can you imagine being a mermaid on land? If you want to see your parents, then you need to have your legs and feet back. However, that won't be easy. You need to find the unique and magical clam here in the sea that you can use, but you'll have to look for it and earn it. This is the only clam that has gold and green color with violet stripes."

"Okay, I will look for that clam, but is that the only way?"

"Not really, but I won't tell you just yet. You think you're going to be that lucky, huh?"

"Hehe, I was just hoping."
