The only sound in the long room was the pitter patter of the rain drops falling on the glass window and the clinking of the spoons time to time against the plates. Two women sat at the ends of the dining table that almost covered the entire room. The maids stood by the door ready to serve when called in. The women ate in silence as if strangers sitting in restaurant eating their own food not daring to say a word unless the circumstances forced. One couldn't tell if their relation was stained or it was the elder one's command to not talk while eating. To break the silence was to throw a hammer through the glass window. And a moment later the glass was shattered after immense courage.
"I want to meet father" The words heavy prolonged the silence as they reached the end of the room to the elder woman.
"No discussions at the dinner table" just one sentence and she resumed eating earning a huff from the younger one.
